I should mention, I made a better version in what is currently the shell of a Luna Class Starship, (similar in appearance to Voyager).

I actually did this at near fullspeed and it worked great. Now it'll work even better with merge blocks. I tested it many a time though. (Merge blocks allow for reintegration of the core too now :D)

Love the idea, but how could you apply this in a fully built ship? in that scene from Voyager (which is one of my favorite scenes) the ship is going quite fast, and the warp core is ejected through a quite small hole. This may work on film, but in Space Engineers, the physics would kind of drag the core along with the ship.

Maybe something with Pillars could solve the problem? Good work so far, please keep at it. We need more realistic Star Trek star ship functions in this game. All thats really missing is for the devs to add the ability to use hotkeys for groups of reactors...maybe you can and im just missing something

A wonderful concept to start with, though one step up from this could be the complete separation of a shuttle similar to this scene from the original transformers movie. I’m only suggesting this as you’d probably have better luck than me in creating a reliable system.
