I would like to post this here for those that don't know, this is from the mod creator Oskar Potocki's Patreon, posted back in March regarding the future development of Rim-Effect.

" Rim-Effect was created when I was riding the Mass Effect Legendary Edition hype wave. As I finished the game, the hype died down and I lost interest in continuing the project. Considering it took as much time to make these mods as Vanilla Factions Expanded mods, and it only reached 5%-10% popularity of the VE mods, I couldn't justify spending so much time and effort on them. The mod will be reuploaded by Neronix and will receive 1.5 update on his end. "

I wish Oskar and his team would have continued working and updating the Rim-Effect series mods, I was looking forward to the Quarians and Turians being released however having Neronix update it is still appreciated. Hopefully one day the mod will be developed again and the stuff they are making now is great. :steamthumbsup:

Hey just letting people know, and im gonna put this message on the other mods as well, Neronix is working on the mods you just have to get the mod from the Github. Latest update is still old for 1.4 back in June 2023 but does work on 1.5.

I read on Oskar's Patreon that Neronix may take over this mod and re-upload it once updated. I very much hope so - I'll miss the Reapers invasion mechanic quite a bit!

Confirmed, I had the same error on startup. I came here to comment that it can be worked around by removing the forcedTrait element from backstory def, but I see that linessi has a better solution that I can confirm works.

Anyone else having a problem with the N7 Armor having very low Armor Values with CE?

Got the same error (Exception in custom XML loader for RimWorld.BackstoryTrait. Node is: <li><defName>RE_BioticRecoveryOffset</defName><degree>1</degree><chance>100</chance></li>).
To fix it I edited N7Backstories.xml:
1) Open in Notepad:
<Steam Folder>\SteamApps\workshop\content\294100\2479560696\1.4\Defs\BackstoryDefs\N7Backstories.xml
2) Find and replace <forcedTraits> to <forcedTraitsChance> and </forcedTraits> to </forcedTraitsChance>
3) Save the file.

What with the missing Backstories, i get red errors about missing Backstories, tested a lot and found out its this mod makeing it? Anyone know way or how to fix?

@Lekoda, it is compatible with CE (for the most part, some small weird bugs exist). Most CE patches are done from CE's side nowadays, so I don't recommend asking on a mod's page, but rather, in CE's Discord server.

This is probably my favorite group of mods for the game. Glad to hear it isn't shelved. Eagerly awaiting update. But obvi take your time. Can't imagine the workload you got. Especially with your new game! Can't wait to try that out. Anyway. Wanted to say thanks for all the work you've done for RimWorld.

Is the shield supposed to be used without a weapon?
I assumed it would make it a one handed thing so it could equip a pistol or smg but not a rifle, or a spear or gladius, but not a plasmasword or halberd (the weapons that say can be worn with shield no).
The description format and stats make it look like the game thinks it's apparel, but when I tell a pawn to wear it they equip it in their weapon slot and drop their weapon.

Am I misunderstanding the way the shield is supposed to be used?

The Dark Channel ability throws a lot of red errors after hitting a target.

How I reproduced it:
I started a new game and spawned a "Bionic amp" and used it with my colonist. Then I spawn a "N7 adept suit" and equipped it.
After using the "Dark channel" ability on a wild boar, it threw an error each tick.
I then used the ability on a pawn (Soto), same errors.

In regards to the shield bug: it’s a vanilla limitation. Shield requires a hand, but when you install a prosthetic arm it doesn’t come with a hand.

There are other mods that make prosthetics keep sub-parts.

OverSight: N7Armor. Although it is mentioned it is a powered armor with overshields, it doesn't meet the requirements to lift heavy weapons and other items that require "powered armored" category.

Oversight/Bug:Took me a bit to track it down as to why but I figured it outl.
Omni Shield cannot be used once bionic limbs have been added to the pawn. Only original flesh and bones arms can use the Omni Shield as a shield.
After installing bionic limbs the option to use the shield says "cannot wear omni shield: missing body parts"

Observation Weaponry:
N7 Shotgun/Crusader. The one meant to fire slugs has lower AP and the same stopping power than other shotguns which fire pellets.

Is there any reason the N7 standard armor is so bad at insulation compared to the Alliance Armor from the core module? both of these in lore are able to be hermetically sealed to survive in space, but my pawn with the N7 armor can barely stand a snowy map that gets below -64, whereas all the pawns wearing alliance armor are marching about outside just fine

It's a heavy power armor with an overshield that can effectively block the first salvo enemy fires during every raid (as it takes some time to recharge). It's also an overshield that allows you to shoot ranged weapons, when shield belts do not.

You equip omni-shield as a shield, but it only works with one-handed weapons that are light enough to be used.
