To be fair the criticism is most likely justified. I am fine having that project closed and seeing some people still enjoy it

Just to offset the usual whining on class mods, super fun design and the "animations" look great. Thanks for providing more fun characters and keeping the game fresh.

His Guard only lasts 1 turn. Not sure if its intentional, maybe you forgot that it ticks down by 1 immediately - but it shouldn't be a thing.
This skill offers too little benefit to only be a 1 turn guard, and i think it should be available pos4 aswell.

ramming maneuver should be available pos 2 to be able to set the Boatswain up for the position 1 exclusive Mooring Blow
It would not be OP at all. the bounty hunter has uppercut that also knocks the enemy back 2 but is a much more useful, used and reliable skill because it stuns. It is a valid comparison

It's a missed opportunity for the Boatswain's predetermined name to be Gustaf or Johansen after the sole surviving sailor of the Emma from The Call of Cthulhu short story.

man, class isnt terrible, But every other dash in the game has +damage modifier, not -50% lol, also, only pos1 attack is a big nono, get moved by the enemy - waste a turn for -50 or manual movement ? Bad design

I like the mod concept and the characterization of the Boatswain! His move set is pretty good in encouraging mark and shuffle teams. I am on the same boat about the lack of CC and CoM Trinkets though..... Would it be alright with you if I went ahead and made a mod to add in trinkets for those? You'd get full credit!

uhhhhh what combo potential
with his mark skill he moves himself backwards:
ruining his own Mooring Blow opportunities
pushing my legion out of Veni Vidi Vici
pushing my highwayman out of pistol shot or duelist's advance
pushing my grave robber out of thrown dagger and other skills
potentially pushing my bounty hunter out of flashbang
overall not welcoming of a cataphract in the team
overall not welcoming of a wanderer in a team

this is some inverted ass combo potential that forces me to consider the party comp for the one boatswain extra carefully and arrive at maybe 3-5 possible solutions that work, thats with the 20ish modded classes present. lame

@[thughunter] mad thuggie that's highly unlikely.
Mostly because I find it to be one of the defining features of the boatswain and personally really enjoy all the fresh combo potential it creates but also because I just don't intend on touching the mod in the foreseeable future. I'm fine with how he functions, many people seem to enjoy him as is and so I consider it a closed project.

can we please not have Back One on the Heave Ho skill??
it is way to limiting to party compositions and playstyles, aswell as his own set of 4 skills, almost requiring to get the ramming manouver alongside.

all his palettes besides tan skinned & grey haired are not great

Alright, you did it. You got me to download a class mod for the first time. I love this character's concepts, and his art design is just way too appealing to me to *not* go for it immediately. Looking forward to adding him to my roster.

-Head Cracker is now usable from rank 2
-Brace for Impact! deals less stress damage
-Minor trinkets stat changes

@Scribe of Nekoti nope, I don't own the DLCs and I'm not aware of how districts work nor can I test it. I may update him to use one eventually.

Wow this is actually is a mechanically satisfying kit. Is it possible to clean up some of his white pixels on the edge of his character? When he is moving and idling he has some white edges particularly around his head and shoulder.

This guy looks looks visually great and mechanically simple in a good way, I'm excited to try him out! The "Fight by my side!" ability looks super fun, powerful, and unique so I'm looking forward to running that on every Boatswain from now on.

Some other buffs that I had in mind for this class would be to buff his "Stand Behind Me!" and "Ramming Maneuver". His guard seems a bit too weak in the early levels and well, as a guard in general. In early levels, it only gives you about 1-3 speed and nothing else, maybe another buff such as a small stress reduction of some kind? Ramming Maneuver should have a smaller damage decrease overall, 33% or 25%? However, the main problem that I see with this class is that he has extremely tough competition with other classes that fulfill a mix of dance-and-frontline such as the Crusader and Man-at-arms with the only exception to this rule is if you plan on only taking him to the cove or other areas that have a large amount of Eldritch type enemies. Again, this mod is really great so far! Just a couple small buffs could make this class really dang good rather than somewhat average.

@BLTwithNnoTomato thanks for your feedback! I'm currently thinking about making some balance changes, perhaps Head Cracker being usable from rank 2 as you suggested. I'll give it some thought and we'll see where it goes.

I personally really love this mod overall! Like, damn I love it lol but, I think he could use a couple buffs overall. I feel that both Mooring Blow and Head Cracker should both be usable in the second rank and that Mooring Blow should also be able to hit second rank but, that's about it really. Again, I really like the mod, I just feel that he could use a couple small buffs :steamthumbsup:
