A unit has to have the ability to use hold firm as well as a general ability to unlock it.

I apologize for not responding sooner. I saw your response at the time and meant to go check the names of the retainers and look for mod conflicts but life got in the way and it slipped my mind.

Sadly, that save file is gone and I can't accurately recall what the retainers were called. I'm willing to call it a mod conflict though as my most recent games have not had this issue.

Thank you! If you're not getting the attack or accuracy effects of a retainer then you may have a mod conflict. If you don't have a mod conflict then let me know of the specific retainer that you're not getting the attack stat on so I can check it.

This, along with all your other mods, are quite good and I've enjoyed the work and dedication you've put into them.

You should know that I've noticed any retainer that adds to the attack or accuracy value of the units does not work. If the retainer gives a special ability, like Warcry, that does work though.

Overall, I really love your work. I don't expect you to do anything about this mod but I did wish to inform you of it.

@Nani my mods don't work for FOTS

@Hoonting You would have to download pack file manager and open the .pack file from your data folder and it will list all the effects. I never took the time to make a list.

can you create create an add-on mod which allows one to freely choose which retainer to choose from instead of 2 predetermined choices randomly selected by game.

I only spend about 2 -3 nights after work and most Sundays to mod. I thought I'd have this thing released back in June lol.. probably will end up being June of next year. The quest idea I got from final fantasy. The first one I made works beautifully. It will give you more stuff to do with your agents and make you think a lot more.

That is a good idea. The reason I haven't done that is because it took forever to write each province trait script for just Generals. I got burnt out so didn't want to do it 6 more times for the agents. I will most likely do it eventually. Right now I'm working on quests for agents. It's something completely new or at least I don't think I've seen anyone do anything like it yet.

By the way. You ever try to add traits similar to Governor Traits but to the agents instead? For example if you keep a Metsuke in one province long enough he gets an Overseer Trait which gives a bonus to Ninja detection as well as further Tax increase. Something similar for Ninjas and Monks. The purpose of it is to encourage you to keep your agents in specific towns as they build networks and rapports with the locals

I'll be revisiting my traits mod at some point next year. It shouldn't be too difficult to add the expanded provinces to the script.

There are 3 categories for generals. The first is Naval, being on a ship. The second and third are if your general is not on a ship and has or does not have the governor trait. If you do not use my traits mod you'll only be locked out of 20 or so retainers that can only pop up if you are a governor of a province. These retainers give stats to your garrison units or tax revenue. There is a fourth pool of retainers that are open to any general or admiral. The fourth pool is the largest.

Shame. Is there at least a requisits to get certain retainers? I know a general needs to be on a ship when he ranks up to get the naval retainers but what about some of the others? A list would be great

Is there a trick to unlock specific Retainers? I usually get retainers that increase general combat stat but only once did I get a Ninja Retainer that allowed me to be in ambush anywhere. That was OP as hell and I would love to get it again but no matter what I do, I just can't get it

Most of the ability unlocks only really do anything if the ability is locked by the base game or if you're using my overhaul or promotions mods which locks most abilities behind the effect.

That will unlock hold firm for all melee hero units. If you are using my promotion mod, I have added hold firm to the samurai retainer units.

Don't know if it's only me, But the Ronin Retainer that give "Hold Firm" skill didn't seem to work. : /
(It said on the General detail screen that i can now use "Hold Firm" but i got no new skill in battle.)

That makes sense. All the new retainers I added are for Generals only. I removed the restriction for FOTS so it should work for that at least.

Moved some of the stronger retainers to max rank only.
Removed FOTS restriction from script, haven't tested if it works w/ FOTS yet.

It's good to take the image from Nobunaga's ambition, but the arrangement of the image is not correct at all, so it feels strange.
For example, the image of the ex-parent is placed in kunichika, the father of the ex-parent of Chosokabe.
The image of Nobunaga Oda, who is a world-renowned man, is used as the image of the mob warlord.

Try disabling that mod and see if that fixes it. If it does then let me know exactly what mod it is and I'll see if I can make a workaround. Good luck!

Fourstrider i found a giltch were i cant get retainers, it might be because of the faster level levelup/3 skillpionts per level mods ive been running.

Ah, i must comment,

i was using Improved Retainer Stats (Vanilla) from Darnold's Workshop, it's really good as a small mod that gives a minor bonus, but it had problems since requires FOTS.

As you know, i dislike massive mechanical changes in the vanila game - hence my initial hesitation in just download this mod at first.

But i decided to test yours as well, since it could be fun.

After all, why not?

And i really apreciate the new vanilla version you made. I will use that version regardless of stats changes, because, like i said, your art is just great.

I would test yours right now, but Darnold's released a new version, i think. So i will dowload yours, his, and the old version and test it all. Maybe even test two of them together, if i feel bold enough.

I may have new and more precise feedback once i do so, and i would be happy to talk about what i found.

I really apreciate your efforts on those mods.

I also made this mod easy to work with retainer stat mods. If you subscribe to a mod that just changes retainer stats and this one it should overwrite my stats depending on how the other person made theirs. It would not change the stats for the 50 new retainers tho.

Oh, and a way to see how the Retainer stats increased would be great, because i can't really tell what changed without download and test...
