This mod is now redundant as of the Nov 10th, 2021 patch.
All characters now have some form of Birthright effect!

That's odd, I can't recreate the bug anymore; Are you using other mods at the same time + which character are you using? Theoretically it should not do anything on a continued run now, except check if its continued.
If that leads to crashes I have to work around the API; Do that I need to be able to recreate it, so any information is appreciated!


(That leading to crash would be bad for the API..:then again the old version realistically also shouldnt have lead to any crashes; So might still be)

In the main.lua is a array that contains the IDs of the characters for which it removes birthright, so you can simply delete the IDs of characters you want to keep birthright for

Thank you for telling me about it! I am currently not playing alot and mostly without mods, so I'm dependant on ppl telling me if something is not working^^

I sadly am unable to understand what the inherent cause of the crash was (It shouldn't crash by any means, especially without logging anything), but it atleast fixed it

Oh it was this mod that was causing the continue crashes! I was able to continue after turning of all my mods but today i was able to continue. Nice for the fix!

Try unsubscribing, starting the game (so it uninstalls) and subscribing again, if its not automatically updating

Not sure, honestly I couldn't test if the save was actually bad after that tbh. I just assumed so since it wouldn't load. I'll have to test it though.

First of: Thanks, fixed it!
Tested it, didn't corrupt the savefile but did crash the game for me. I dont understand why it happens, logfile doesnt say anything either. Maybe some problem with altering the itmepool and its not loaded yet. Welp anyways, now it won't trigger on a continued run, so that won't happen anymore. Thanks for telling me^^

If I save and quit a run with Apollyon for example, and then close the game then reopen it with this mod it crashes the game and corrupts the save. I personally like this mod but if it's causing crashing I'm gonna have to disable it temporarily.

You have separated runs between modded and not-modded as far as a I know, meaning you can't continue runs that you started wtihout mods activated after activating them and vice-versa

The code the way it is, is for optimal performance; It runs after character initialisation which is afaik once per game (Or up to 4 in coop) when the game starts; There is no Callback for "leaving the starting room" I'm afraid and it would neither increase nor reduce the complexity. Rerolling items would mean running the code for every single item encountered, which is quite resource intense (Especially if multiple mods run). There is no way of readding items into the itempool, so I can not simply check for clicker use and readd the item either.
TL;DR: Too few runs use clickers for me to justify running a script resource intense enough to accomodate for using it.

@Khryptos You could run the script after leaving the starting room. Can't add new people after that anyways. Or even better don't remove the item but reroll it when it appears, that way changing character during the run (clicker etc) doesnt break this.

Super useful, tysm! could you also make a mod that makes Esau Jr. not appear for characters it breaks? (Forgotten and J&E, but J&E especially since using the item with them causes save file corruption)

It triggers after the character initializes, so I assume it would remove it from the item pool if you have one character that has it. I suppose changing that is possible, if you tell me what exactly you envision^^

Kinda weird they don't add a placeholder effect like "Gives 3 soul hearts on pick-up"

Thank you. Every time this popped on a character with no benefit my only thought was, "This could have been literally any other item."
