you are completely correct, i missed that entirely when i was patching the techstations. i'll go ahead and push an update to fix that right now. still need to go through and add support for more modded techstations.

@AnomNom When you were replacing the Sail boot up dialogue, you forgot to make sure the "/ai/portraits/" lines used the correct portraits. That might be why Tadpole had that issue with all the racial sails turning into the Apex one when using a Starbound beta Sail replacers mod, since in your techstation patches, the boot up dialogue lines point towards the Apex sail portraits for all the racial sails. Though when taking a small peek at some of the other files here, I didn't see a similar mistake, so this bug should only affect the first Sail interaction in the entire game, then be normal afterwards. In my tests it seemed to only affect that specific interaction.

Also, this should be a bug for vanilla Sail users too, since as you mentioned earlier in this comment section, most of those beta Sail replacer mods are just replaced image files

The problem with that idea is that there are several ways in which radio messages are triggered, either through config files, cinematic files, scripts, and several other places. Because of this, you'd pretty much have to hunt down every single trigger, remove it, and hope that it doesn't conflict with something; you can't remove radio messages at the source and expect it to work, because then the game calls a non-existent radio message, and throws and error. It isn't a game crashing error, at the very least, but it's incredibly messy and annoying.

That's the thing: I just checked Racial AI Restorer to confirm, and yea, it doesn't even use json or any scripts. It is only image files, which means that my mod should be physically incapable of conflicting.

Unfortunately, yes, I've isolated it to this mod. Removing it and only it made the SAILs use the racial equivalents again.

To be fair, it also might not neccessarily be the fault of this mod in particular, and the original Racial AI Restorer mod may use dirty code that actually makes that one not play nice with other SAIL mods like this one.

That, literally, is impossible. This only touches dialogue. There is no practical way that it can change the AI Sprites, as I've not touched the image files, nor any instances where the AI images are selected. Are you one-hundred percent sure that it's this mod?

I can attest this mod is incompatible with Racial AI Restorer, and forces all racial SAILs to use the Apex one.

Honestly decided to install this mod because I was tired of SAIL berating me for beaming down to a gas giant out of curiosity (that line is far more bearable now, by the way)

Weirdly this mod is abit iffy with Racial AI Restorer (or just any AI changer like original Floran for an example)

When you wake up in your ship the ai is always blue so in RAR it's always the Apex ai, not too sure it is this way.

Personally, I am a huge fan of somewhat sentient AI that can be not only a computer-assistant, but also a companion. A cheeky friend that makes witty jokes and funny comments (when it's due), and also comforting during difficult times, making your spacefaring adventures not so lonely.
That's why I prefer vanilla S.A.I.L.
