Can you add support for Clean textures?
Orravan 21 Nov, 2023 @ 4:55pm
Quick note: there's a soft & benign incompatibility with Fertile Fields, which can be exploited to create dirt at no cost.

In details, the terraforming tool of FF allows recovering dirt from packed dirt tiles, even if those were laid on terrain that didn't originally contain dirt, such as stony soil.
It's a very minor issue, but worth mentioning for people playing on harsh biomes where proper soil is scarce or nonexistent. It can nullify the hunt for soil ingredients (most notably fertilizer).

Cherry Picker can disallow specific FF terraforming actions, but FF also has a generic, dynamic terraforming tool that I believe cannot be turned off without disabling terraforming entirely.

@Maoman You can use Smart Farming for planting trees in rows, if you're fine with it looking less natural.
Maoman 22 Oct, 2023 @ 7:53am
I have a request but I've no idea how hard it would be to implement.

I like to plant orchards and then fill in all the spaces between the trees with packed dirt because it looks really nice and clean but still natural-like. Unfortunately because colonists don't plant trees in perfect tidy little rows and instead slightly randomize the placement, filling in the packed dirt is pretty tedious--you can't place it over the trees or they'll chop down the tree.

Might there be some way to automate this process? Just, have a button I can click that would automatically place a packed dirt blueprint on every tile that does not contain a tree?

Can this be made to work with "Clean Textures"? That would be awesome since Toony Terrain is out of date.

Thank you!
Owlchemist  [author] 24 May, 2023 @ 7:40pm
@Arky - cherry picker can do that. Those are called ScatterableDefs
Arky 24 May, 2023 @ 5:03pm
Is there a mod that remove those scattered dark sands over our paths?
Chazz Hazzard 5 Mar, 2023 @ 9:21am
Great mod, would be even better with compatibility with Alpha Biomes.
Thanks for your work
Owlchemist  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 5:26am
Yes to the first. Never heard of the second.

Does this work with Desire Paths and Natural Paths?
Owlchemist  [author] 25 Oct, 2022 @ 1:35am
Support for all the terrain types from the Regrowth mods addd.
Luigipunch 22 Oct, 2022 @ 1:04pm
Some of the custom soil types in Regrowth: Core are also not supported yet, it would be great to have those.
Demognomicon 3 Oct, 2022 @ 5:09pm
Another vote for Alpha mod compatibility..
CosmoSweet 17 Jul, 2022 @ 6:36am
I am trying it within an alpha biome, but the type of floor doesn't allow me to do so.
It is a "Dense Grass" terrain.
Would there be a way to make alpha biome compatible? :o

It is causing a desync on Multiplayer mod. I wonder why? It still does the task but we have to resync everytime a pawn does the work lol
Kaz 25 Jun, 2022 @ 11:38pm
Alpha Animals adds three terrain types. Could you add compatibility for these so that packed dirt/sand can be applied on top of them?

defNames:
AA_FertilizedSand
AA_SuperiorFertilizedSand
AA_PollenSoil

@Hamstirly I think you're misreporting a bug. I use this mod and that doesn't happen.

@OwlChemist
Would you consider making these surfaces not get the filth "dirt" on them - like normal sand and soil? As it is with a small colony (which is when you want to use this mod the most, the early game) my colonists spend more time cleaning the packed surface than they get from the faster walk-speed.
Hamstirly 10 Jun, 2022 @ 10:04pm
Wonderful mod I've used for ages. One bug I've noticed: if traders walk on ice, they'll turn it to packed dirt. Yet to see if it reverts back.
Teax 21 May, 2022 @ 9:11am
Great mod, should be vanilla :D One thing annoys me is that 1 wide roads looks too unnatural/big compared to flagstone i.e, would like to see that my packed dirt/sand roads blend like the sandstone in the enviroment. would that be possible?
Viper 22 Sep, 2021 @ 7:28pm
thanks
Owlchemist  [author] 22 Sep, 2021 @ 7:01pm
Yeah
Viper 22 Sep, 2021 @ 3:10pm
does this allow the packed dirt to be removable? I remember the original reason I used Yoann's mod was because i had permanent packed dirt on my map that could never be undone. Just wanna be sure before I build some in my current game with your mod.
Owlchemist  [author] 19 Sep, 2021 @ 12:34pm
They both use the same def, so sure. Packed dirt is a normal vanilla def, after all.
Hyomoto 19 Sep, 2021 @ 11:13am
Okay, so this is a dumb question but I have to ask: you say it will skip packed dirt if I already have it, but would it work if I _replaced_ VPD with this? I have a hunch the answer is "noooooooooo" but just in case, I gotta ask.

Yet another must-have. Very much appreciated
Peyo de la Mancha 31 Aug, 2021 @ 2:04am
@Owlchemist It works perfectly now ! You're a steel-eyed man ! Thanks for the help ! :steamhappy:
Owlchemist  [author] 30 Aug, 2021 @ 11:32pm
Aright @Peyo, should be fixed now.
Owlchemist  [author] 29 Aug, 2021 @ 9:41pm
@Peyo de la Mancha - sorry somehow I missed/didn't get a notification about your comment. Thanks, I'll look into it!

Hi. I think I have found an incompatibility with the Soil Mod (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725747149) . This one adds two things, a soil transformation for crops and a basic dirt replacement for smooth stone floors.
However, as I tried to create a packed dirt path with your mod, it appears it can't be be done on this "non-natural" dirt. Instead, I have a blank area, pack dirt can't be applied on it. For what I see, Soil mod adds a kind of "layer" on smooth stone instead transforming it into vanilla dirt, or perhaps changes it appearance and features but it's still a stone floor, I don't know.
Anyway, I guess you can't do much about this but if you can test by yourself and see exactly what the problem's, could you add a note in your mod's description ? Thanks.
Owlchemist  [author] 25 May, 2021 @ 1:03pm
There isn't really such thing as snow terrain in the game. Snow is a status applied to the terrain below. Now, there *is* ice though. But an ice road (packed ice?) seems like kind of a stretch, hah.
The Cat 25 May, 2021 @ 12:39pm
@Owlchemist
Hello, you should do a packed snow version too.
Owlchemist  [author] 22 May, 2021 @ 10:22pm
Me too :(
john_marston_jr 22 May, 2021 @ 7:25pm

Owlchemist  [author] 21 May, 2021 @ 3:47am

General Teno 21 May, 2021 @ 3:35am
