No, I have not updated this mod in years or even played stellaris in years. If you use this mod with newer versions of the game, you do so at your own risk.

If someone else wants to update it though, you have my blessing.
Quo 13 May @ 4:20pm
Can you fix the this: whenever fleet is defeated i get an event observation.6.
Bluetail 16 Apr, 2024 @ 5:21pm
So this is the mod causing the bug, I had a strong feeling.
Dark  [author] 12 Apr, 2024 @ 3:14pm
Yeah I haven't updated this mod in 3 years (and don't plan to. I'm done with stellaris) so correct, avoid this mod.
Mishal Killecs 12 Apr, 2024 @ 1:53pm
This mod currently causes a small, but annoying bug with observatory.desc popup.
Avoid this mod if you want.
urktheturtle 19 May, 2023 @ 4:36pm
anyone got a functioning mod that... does the opposite, keep them from going into space?
FirePrince 4 Apr, 2023 @ 3:23pm
@Rising Fenix: definitely NOT (the syntax and key names have pretty much changed in 3.7).
In the core this mod is quite simple, it changes only the numbers (if someone want to update this mod).
Rising Fenix 4 Apr, 2023 @ 12:56pm
Does this mod works with first contact?
發芽馬鈴薯 2 Apr, 2023 @ 8:56pm
Update pls
VelxraTV 17 Mar, 2023 @ 2:19pm
Although unlike, I would like to see this mod fixed for 3.7 as it fits in perfectly for what the update should be.
CTH2004 14 Mar, 2023 @ 2:05pm
with the new DLC, this would be perfect. Just a thought!
ChaffyExpert 9 Mar, 2023 @ 2:23pm
Is there a mod like this that just speeds up primitive advancement (and quickly, for any age)
Eli 5 Dec, 2022 @ 5:51am
Fantastic. Needs update though!
GlitchFling108 3 Dec, 2022 @ 8:01am
I think this mod broke
A Hazbin Radio Demon 23 Nov, 2022 @ 1:43pm
This mod is absolutely fantastic and I REALLY hope it gets an update soon.
Kepos 14 Nov, 2022 @ 9:53am
@frozenparagon
No problem, I'm just still hyped by the options of the PP mod and looking out for some sort of similar heading. I do like your mod and enjoying it very much. It would have been some extra exitement on top... :steamhappy:
FrozenParagon 14 Nov, 2022 @ 8:25am
@Kepos I've looked into making one of those mods. from what i've seen in the files it would have to be a total overhaul based on all the stuff it touches and would have lot compat with other mods.
I think it's doable, but I personally abandoned it. Just to temper your expectations to it being made with the current state of the game
FrozenParagon 14 Nov, 2022 @ 8:17am
This is a very good mod @Dark
I rather enjoy it, it's been a staple of many of my games
Kepos 12 Jul, 2022 @ 5:10am
Interesting mod, that perfectly fits a bit into the old Primitive Players 2.0 mod.
Is there a chance to start as one of those 'near or in space age' and have to research spaceflight?

Another question about your notes:
Is there a mechanism planned to have new 'space age' AI go into revolt, if you denie them to secede their own empire from your power instead of having them join you? I mean, depending on the ethics there should be some empires that would better fight until death instead of join an overlord. Would be nice to see that option find a way into your fine mod.
NguyenTen 17 Jun, 2022 @ 6:20pm
So what change in the 3.4 update caused this mod to bork up? When i tested a run in observer mode in a 600 star galaxy only about a dozen primitives nation formed after about 40 years which is a bunch off the preview images.
Dark  [author] 6 Jun, 2022 @ 3:20pm
You mean as a planetary feature? That's a neat idea.

at the moment this mod is pretty busted in Overlord but if I decide to try to find a way to balance it, I might look into adding something like that.
anaris 4 Jun, 2022 @ 6:51pm
You might consider unique cultural deposits as a way of differentiating ages; stone age art and culture has little new to contribute to your people, but unity, influence, inspiration for society research etc might well be derived from industrial or space age art :)
Darkgills 21 May, 2022 @ 6:28pm
Stellaris? Change or focus on primitives? Impossible
Dark  [author] 6 Mar, 2022 @ 10:34pm
This mod should work for any update as long as they don't change anything involving Primitives. It has a light footprint.
lordhaw 4 Mar, 2022 @ 9:30am
@Discouraged Metal, it seems to work OK in 3.3, at least in my games it has anyway.
I'm Gonna 3 Mar, 2022 @ 8:06am
Does this still work in 3.3?
Vigorous Gil 26 Oct, 2021 @ 6:32am
Doesn't that already happen?
TheShir 24 Oct, 2021 @ 6:31pm
@Lord Rithon the day Stellaris can simulate rise and fall of multiple era of galactic civilizations is the day Stellaris wins
Shoku 9 Oct, 2021 @ 3:36pm
you think there would be a way to make a primitive species generator so you could play the game and new species would auto generate on worlds?
roosterfareye 6 Oct, 2021 @ 5:24pm
@Kulvain it seems to work just fine in 3.1.2, just started a new playthrough and primitives seem to be spawning as expected.
michelbosman 1 Oct, 2021 @ 12:01pm
Can me play as Primitive?
Kulvain 29 Sep, 2021 @ 5:18pm
Is it possible to have the galaxy age as a trigger for certain primitives to start developing? (e.g. 20% of the primitives will start developing at 2200, another 20% start at 2250 and so on)
I'd like this mod not only at the gamestart, but to automatically "repopulate" a late-game galaxy with new empires after some endgame crisis destroyed half the galaxy before being beaten.
Being the new ascendet/fallen empire of the galaxy isn't that much fun if there are only like 5 empires (probably being fallen empries aswell) in 1000 star galaxy left and 2/3 of the galaxy being empty uncolonized space.
Mustard Lid 19 Sep, 2021 @ 1:09pm
Are there any immediate plans to update for 3.1? If not, that's understandable.
Red-Eyed_Gelynome 29 Aug, 2021 @ 4:54am
Created a small patch instead for people who wants lower amount. Instead of x15, it's x5.

Should Drastically reduce the chance of species tab lag/crash. (Still depending on how powerful your pc is and how many did you spawn)
roosterfareye 24 Aug, 2021 @ 10:34pm
Marrow: Nope, haven't come across that issue... However, if you turn the slider up too high, you will end up with a *lot* of empires. You'll end up with a lot of pops across the galaxy! Most recent game I had the slider on primitives on 1.25, 1000 star galaxy and 3 AI. I ran the entire thing in observer mode just to see what would happen, and at its high point (around 150 years in) there were 24 space faring empires plus six fallens. By 2580 this had dwindled to 6 but the game still ran OK. The number of pops (which is the real performance killer) was just over 30000 empire wide. Laggy, but playable.
Marrow 23 Aug, 2021 @ 4:22am
Loving this mod and having tons of fun with it, but holy shit I cannot even open my species view screen without the entire game crashing. Is anyone else getting this problem or am I just playing on a potato?
roosterfareye 23 Aug, 2021 @ 1:18am
It actually seems to be quite well balanced imho. I’m going to try a run with no ai and see how things progress. It’s like a galactic simulation lol!
Dark  [author] 22 Aug, 2021 @ 9:35pm
I think that's an observer mode thing. You can run the console command to play an empire and reveal everything to see.
roosterfareye 22 Aug, 2021 @ 8:12pm
Great mod! I have been running some games in Observer mode and its interesting watching them rise up, form federations and battle each other. Works well on a 1000 star galaxy, 1 - 3 AI Empires, Fallen Empires and no Advanced starts. Only issue I have is a weird one, where the uninhabitable icon seems to stay on all planets, even when they are inhabited (or is this an artifact of observer mode?)
Starkrome 15 Jul, 2021 @ 4:38am
this mod is amazing i didn't expect to found one of them on primitive
Vigorous Gil 1 Jun, 2021 @ 6:42am
@Target using the assymmetric start mod I linked earlier that didn't happen with me. (although my save is still in 2030)
Target 1 Jun, 2021 @ 12:54am
All that happened when I used this was they all Enlightened each other. By 2050 there were about 50 AI empires, presumably all Enlightening the next one in the chain. So it kinda rendered the whole thing moot.
Vigorous Gil 30 May, 2021 @ 6:14pm
If anyone else got interested into my crazy wondering yesterday, I found this mod which is not updated but still works fine:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/comments/1767972160

@Dark, thanks for the mod! It works like a charm :)

Dark  [author] 29 May, 2021 @ 8:55pm
Yep, I do recommend turning down AI empires and let the primitives take their place. Vanilla just spawns all AI empires on day 1 along with the player. Advanced starts mostly get extra tech bonuses and some resources.
Vigorous Gil 29 May, 2021 @ 8:52pm
All this makes me wonder: how does the base game spawn empires? Is it diverse or everybody the same by 'year 0"? I know Advanced Starts are a thing, but are they equal as well? Is there any way to diversify? Is there any way to modify all that with mods?

I mean: new game, random everything: the galaxy starts with a 2 Fallen Empires, a "regular" empire who has expanding for the last XXXX years (and maybe have large territories already), the Advanced Starts (which are also diverse - ones bigger than others), some other regulars empires with 1-2 systems and then, finally, you just starting exploring.
Vigorous Gil 29 May, 2021 @ 8:52pm
I really like this idea. I feel base game is very limited to the way Primitives work but I understand it's already very unrealistic in base game to have more than one civilization in the galaxy reaching the space exploration at the same time.

Would you recommend to start with a bigger galaxy with less "regular" civilizations, then? (so by the time you find them all there will be a variety of civs in different "states - some advanced with many systems, some just starting exploration? I also have Fatherland. I am curious to see how these 2 interact together. (continues...)
Dark  [author] 29 May, 2021 @ 8:36pm
Observation posts block the final advancement event for primitives, the one that makes them into an actual empire. They can advance all the way up TO that stage with an observation post over them, though.
Cheesemongle 29 May, 2021 @ 7:06pm
TIL observation posts block primitive advancement
Dark  [author] 29 May, 2021 @ 1:34pm
@MayhemX8 Precisely! My goal was to make it feel like you ARE the advanced start.
Journeyman Prime 29 May, 2021 @ 12:58pm
ok, so its good for if you want a galaxy full of randoms but also want to be on the other end of the Advanced Start mechanic. Kinda cool actually.
