Thank you @Protok St and @zArkham4269. I will find it strange for me and all AI to use only one city visual style. I normally play Harmony and prefer only the visual style that comes with it in my cities. In vanilla tech it is easy to gain other affinity high enough and have them 'mess' up the city visual style which am not a fan of. If there could be a way to lock it to one visual style using some kind of condition, that would be amazing.

On the affinity front, Codex tied the affinity to population, somewhat similar to religion. And you can build affinity specific city districts. So I may suggest to look into giving the faction unique tech that allows them to build unique city districts next to their cities. The challenge would be to blend these to the city centre itself and not make it look out of place. Perhaps collaborate with Riyka, Codex author for some ideas.

I'd like to agree with Cythal in that the Codex Overhaul mod has a LOT of nice things in it. Beyond wanting to help work on your Mod, the primary issues is that mod makes it almost impossible to win an Affinity victory given it seems you end up having to fight and defeat all your enemies before you every get the Affinity Win techs.

Still, that mod has a lot of cool things and their Codex only Factions are kind of cool as well. Frankly, I sort of like the mods where Affinity is base more on what you build and do rather than the tech. I find it odd to see Harmony factions slaughtering every alien and burning every nest.

Hello Cythal and thank you! I'm glad that you found something interesting here.

Due to your question:
"Is it possible to mod the game such that cites only use one type of visual style based on the highest Affinity?"

Yes, it is possible and not too hard. The styles of bases use 4 different complex model-files.
If replace all 4 files with the same one the game will use 1 visual style.

Hello Protok ST. Excellent mod. Right on the latest page when I needed to do some research.

Is it possible to mod the game such that cites only use one type of visual style based on the highest Affinity? Now I can see an issue with this in vanilla play where a long game will cause you to research all techs and max out all affinities. Perhaps, an alternative is to freeze the visual style on the first affinity you maxed out late in the game.

Codex Overhaul mod did this very well where on a tall play I can continuously spend diplo points to max my pop on a given affinity and maintain only one style throughout the game.

That is a hardcoded thing. Any change of visual of base can be implemented only for all factions. There is no way to show different visual style of base for two factions.

The different affinity visuals in reality is a one complex style of base.

We can do colored textures, but game core can use only one texture for all factions. :steamsad:
Researches continues...

One thing you might want to try with this is have a tint or accent color for each Affinity along with the different hybrids. I like the look, but it does look a bit blocky as it's mostly mono-chomatic.

I figure with your awesome work on the vehicles, this should be (???) a snap? For that matter, it would be nice if the accent/tint was based the faction color instead.

Aww! Thanks for the "heartwarming", I like it a lot! :AffinityHarmony:

Hi Ian, good idea. I have a functionality of Centauri Escape Pod in plan.
If last base fall but army is still around, then leader escape to safety place.

Speaking of cities, I realize you have a lot going on, but I just realized something just now. Maybe I'm just thinking of Civ V or so, but I thought BE used to have a feature in the set-up which would require you having to kill off all a faction's units before taking them out.

I think this is an interesting option. Especially given I just played a game were Hutuma had this huge navy...yet only one city. Having that huge navy magically disappear is sort of stupid.

So, maybe something to look into for future updates?

So turns the cities into a dark texture, I was just confused at first.

What's the difference on pictures from usual game?
It's a textures of bases-cities.
And as the desription says the mod is changing the visual style of bases-cities.

What is this mod exactly? The description doesn't really do much to help me understand or even pictures.
