Will there be an update for the new radar and sonar?
dogtherevenger 1 Apr, 2024 @ 5:14pm
i get that this is deprecated. but is there a new one or does this still work?

Sonar + Radar on 1 map?

When Update
Ari Ari 10 May, 2023 @ 6:56pm
When will this be updated?
luca.wlke 17 Apr, 2022 @ 2:30pm
it says its not working with the new radars is that still the case ?
Dice 11 Apr, 2022 @ 2:28pm
the radars seem to be only able to detect targets that are extremely low, is there a way i could change the pitch fov of the radar to detect higher targets?
Neottious  [author] 13 Mar, 2022 @ 7:25am
It's possible to do that if you chain them, though some UI elements may intersect.
Poto 22 Feb, 2022 @ 12:32pm
Is it possible to hook TWO of these (one for radar, one for sonar) up to MNCS to get data from both sensors on screen?
AlphaMoon 12 Feb, 2022 @ 3:34pm
Any chances this system will be updated to (also) use the new updated radars?
smolz 1 Oct, 2021 @ 12:10pm
look forward to the new controller :) last one worked great after i updated the map
smolz 19 Sep, 2021 @ 5:29pm
that might be it i didnt know there was a new mncs version
Pufferfish  [author] 19 Sep, 2021 @ 4:09am
are you sure you are using it with the updated MNCS version? The old version of MNCS is not compatible with the new version of HATS.
smolz 16 Sep, 2021 @ 9:25pm
used with small and large radars, doesnt show targets or radar
smolz 16 Sep, 2021 @ 9:24pm
doesnt work, used to us the v1 version but this doesnt want to work
Pufferfish  [author] 18 Aug, 2021 @ 10:01am
Which radar did you use? On which targets did you test it?
Wombattoker 13 Aug, 2021 @ 9:36am
i'm having issues with the radar not showing targets, i made sure all targets was well above 1k mass, but for some reason no targets shows up, even tried cutting the radar and controller from the example and just plopped it on my command center, nothing seems to work :O
Pufferfish  [author] 3 Aug, 2021 @ 9:59am
Yeah, that problem is known and I'm working on an improved version of HATS right now, it might come out soon.

Using the CT function, followed by the C function resets the map feed to 0,0 instead of centering on your GPS or staying put.

Does putting a radar upside down really affect the accuracy?
fasterdenyou2 24 Jul, 2021 @ 11:00am
I did not know it could still grab the targets from the Large Radar I thought you needed the composite to display it but I will look into it. Also that might be nice for the weapons DLC as I am guessing that RADAR is going to be put in ships and AWACS and might start to be more popular and 6 is better than none.
Pufferfish  [author] 24 Jul, 2021 @ 9:51am
This can be used with the huge radar, you just won't have the ability to detect 8 targets at once. And the grid thing, sure. You can already get the gps of a target when you select it, it's outputted on the composite output but the being able to click on places and get the coordinates - that would probably be a good feature for the MNCS base controller. I am working on an update for several things right now, including this system. Maybe I'll add a huge radar additional controller to be able to scan up to 6 targets at the time, all 8 won't be possible.
fasterdenyou2 22 Jul, 2021 @ 1:07pm
Also another idea that could be cool is that if you click on the screen it would give you grid coords so that you can click on the radar contact and give grid coords to other people, this could be extremely useful for navigation and finding vehicles for SAR and relaying that or it could be useful for the upcoming weapons DLC to relay enemy contacts.
fasterdenyou2 22 Jul, 2021 @ 12:24pm
Is there a version if this that can be used for the huge RADAR? Because it could be so useful for SAR and weapons like you can spot stuff 50KM away and dispatch a helicopter or drop a GPS guide weapon from far ranges. Anyways thank for this and let me know if there is one.
Pufferfish  [author] 11 Jul, 2021 @ 9:46am
I mean, you can technically use just one MNCS. You would need to switch the composite and video though and for accurate target coordinates, also switch the gps and altitude data. Best is just to use two MNCS though.
Roseman 8 Jul, 2021 @ 7:00pm
If I want sonar and radar do I need both twice or just two HATS?
Neottious  [author] 5 Jul, 2021 @ 2:09pm
I don't think we should implement the dish radar into this system, since it lacks nuanced yaw control. While it is technically possible, the accuracy would not really be passable. I recommend using the large dome radar in place of the dish, wherever that's possible.
KasperKRZ 5 Jul, 2021 @ 8:50am
Okay Thanks For The Response.
Pufferfish  [author] 5 Jul, 2021 @ 8:26am
Yes it is possible. We might update the controller soon and add that feature
KasperKRZ 5 Jul, 2021 @ 7:53am
Would It Be Possible To Make A Version Or Converter To Allow For The Use Of A Dish Type Radar? Preferably Allowing Rotation Of The Dish If Possible? If You Decide To Do So, Please And Thank You.
Neottious  [author] 25 Jun, 2021 @ 6:15am
This radar system doesn't lead targets, it just gets their position. You can use proportional navigation to get on a collision course with them using the data of this radar.
roknmatoz 20 Jun, 2021 @ 1:53pm
I meant more as in the system on the large radar that lead the target as it was moving
Pufferfish  [author] 20 Jun, 2021 @ 4:21am
You mean in terms of range? sadly small radar has a max range of 5km and large a 20km range. Also, the smaller the vehicles gets, the shorter that detection range actually gets. We cannot change anything about that
roknmatoz 18 Jun, 2021 @ 8:55pm
I love the whole thing but is there a way to make it lead the vehicle further. Im trying to make a gps guided missle with it and it always is falling short.
Pufferfish  [author] 13 Jun, 2021 @ 8:12am
Thanks! :)
Echolot 9 Jun, 2021 @ 12:07pm
After further experimentation this works perfectly for the intended use-case and feels pretty much magical with the tight MNCS integration. Thanks a lot, really cool project.
Pufferfish  [author] 9 Jun, 2021 @ 4:59am
Yes
Neottious  [author] 9 Jun, 2021 @ 3:51am
In short: This radar system is designed to filter for only meaningful targets. Only vehicles will be detected. This is so that the track-while-scan system does not get overloaded. The basic intent is that it can track a target even while it is not being seen - this is the fundamental concept of a track-while-scan radar system.
Neottious  [author] 9 Jun, 2021 @ 3:47am
Also, AlphaMoon, the large radar actually does have a fairly large FOV for elevation, and it's independent of the FOV input. We did much testing of this.
Neottious  [author] 9 Jun, 2021 @ 3:46am
You cannot use a dish on a velocity pivot - you must use one of the main sensors listed in the description.
Neottious  [author] 9 Jun, 2021 @ 3:45am
This radar does not support using a pivoted radar. It is a track-while-scan radar system, and it ignores targets which are lighter than 1000 units of mass. This is so that you can be sure that you're only tracking vehicles.
Zero 8 Jun, 2021 @ 3:42pm
using a Dish on a velocity pivot, the pivot does 180 before instantly stop and reversing and repeats that same pattern
AlphaMoon 8 Jun, 2021 @ 11:32am
I have the same issue as Echolot, additionally, the Large Radar's controllable pitch means even the example rig can't detect targets even slightly above its plane of search.
Echolot 8 Jun, 2021 @ 10:22am
Radar contacts aren't displayed on the map (but detected by the radar, tested with a buzzer tied to the target detected node output of the radar)... Even the example rig doesn't seem to work for me :/
