There's a version that does 4 instead of 5 on the linked Nexus page, but I did not make a version for 10. You're welcome to examine this mod using the mod creation kit for MW5 (available on EGS I believe) and make a version that does 10 instead if you like.
sashahellsing 8 Oct, 2024 @ 2:58am
there a way to change it from 5 to 10?
coltace45 7 Jul, 2024 @ 10:40am
I can confirm this still works with the most recent patch
Menghis Khan  [author] 28 Jun, 2024 @ 7:10pm
Yes, it should be totally safe to add mid-save AFAIK - unless something in the game itself blocks you from loading a save with a different set of mods enabled than the save was made with.

The new salvage share calculation for negotiation points won't take effect until you jump to a new planet though (that's when contract details get re-generated).
Lon247 28 Jun, 2024 @ 5:31pm
can this be added in mid save?
Menghis Khan  [author] 20 Jun, 2024 @ 1:35pm
This mod should work for all the randomly-generated missions (not story-related or sidequests or DLC questlines - basically all the missions that show up with normal white icons), they haven't changed the base negotiation system. If it's not working for the new Arena missions (assuming they're randomly-generated and not part of a storyline/questline), it probably means that they use the same handcrafted "scenario" files which override the basic negotiation system.

The mod should be compatible with all DLCs, it just does not modify negotiations for the DLC questline/storyline missions or other missions which use handcrafted "scenario" files.
Arsat 9 Jun, 2024 @ 5:24am
I hope there will be an update for the mod
wraithwar1987 18 May, 2024 @ 12:28am
@Menghis Khan Will you be updating this mod to be DLC 6 compatible?
Menghis Khan  [author] 11 Nov, 2023 @ 9:30pm
Weird, but glad you managed to fix it with a re-sub and restart. I wonder if it just never installed correctly, or something about loading and finishing that DLC campaign put the mission generator into a weird state.
necro55 11 Nov, 2023 @ 4:41pm
OK, had to unsub, launch, save, exit, resub, launch, and then leave the system and come back and it is working. All is well, please disregard last post.
necro55 11 Nov, 2023 @ 4:37pm
Im trying procedural generated random missions after finishing Dragons Gambit, and it is not working. I will unload and reload the mod and retest, report back results.
Menghis Khan  [author] 10 Oct, 2023 @ 4:09pm
Exactly, as @Illydth said. For whatever reason the devs decided to make individual scenario files including negotiation point values for every predefined (story, campaign, DLC, quest, etc) mission. This means that this mod only applies to the "regular" randomly-generated missions, because it would be a lot of work to also modify 50+ scenario files in the blueprint editor (unfortunately this is not just a YAML config file I could edit in bulk with find-and-replace or something). Honestly I find you'll tend to get more than enough benefit out of this mod just from the randomly-generated missions since those are mostly what you'll be doing during a Career or Campaign (especially the multi-part missions since unused salvage shares and insurance both accumulate).
Illydth 3 Oct, 2023 @ 9:54pm
Description says: If it's not procedurally generated, it's not going to apply. All Campaign missions, including the new DLC missions are NOT procedurally generated.
Diremerc 2 Oct, 2023 @ 5:35am
Doing the dragon's gambit dlc and doesn't seem to apply to any missions. Do all the dlc missions count as story missions then?
Menghis Khan  [author] 11 Jun, 2023 @ 4:05pm
Hm, it should work even just jumping one planet over. Maybe they did add a cache for contracts on nearby or recently-visited planets? FWIW, in my local testing I did literally just jump one planet over and then back and it had updated properly from 3 shares per point to 5.

Anyway, glad you were able to clear that up.
Clanner Jake 6 Jun, 2023 @ 7:33pm
yeah, there appears to be a cache for missions in regards to the salvage table, i hadn't jumped far enough away; i jumped next door but the value wouldn't go above 41 even though it was at 40 with 2 points to spare. but i went to a 3x higher threat area and it was threw the roof, so i warped back and they're all working properly now. thanks for checking as well, and sorry about the confusion.
Menghis Khan  [author] 6 Jun, 2023 @ 5:04pm
I also verified it with an existing game save: at my current planet salvage shares were still 3 per point. As soon as I flew to a new planet, salvage shares were 5 per point. Flying back to the first planet, they were now also correctly 5 per point.

I also double-checked the game file which I edited in this mod for you all to make sure it is a base game file:
"/Game/Campaign/Progression/DataTables/DefaultNegotiationPointAllocation.uasset"
Yes it is a base game file (not a DLC file), and yes it still exists in the base game.
Menghis Khan  [author] 6 Jun, 2023 @ 4:54pm
Did you:
- Remember to close and re-launch the game after activating this mod?
- Remember to travel to a new planet after activating this mod, since contract specifics (and their negotiation values) are only generated when you arrive at the planet?
- Remember that this mod specifically only works for randomly-generated missions? So not campaign missions or missions with are tied to other questlines.

I just loaded up the game and re-activated this mod (specifically this one I have here on Steam Workshop, not the variants I have up o Nexus), and started a new campaign and flew to a planet. Salvage shares per negotiation point with a 25% negotiation bonus was 6, which is correct for a base value of 5 (number of shares is rounded down to the nearest whole number).
Clanner Jake 6 Jun, 2023 @ 4:22pm
i tested it, vanilla 10 shares at 25% bonus, 41 points. the mod didn't change this and i own zero of the DLC, so.
Darcyblue 23 Apr, 2023 @ 2:54am
this mod does not seem to be working at this time.
coltace45 28 Feb, 2023 @ 6:29pm
Yeah I took out ten mechs in a row and the math just doesnt add up
Max 18 Feb, 2023 @ 9:45am
its not working
coltace45 28 Jan, 2023 @ 1:01pm
I can confirm this mod works with the latest update Rise of Rasalhague.
Cyntonian 28 Jan, 2023 @ 8:39am
@Sir Sunkruhm Yep, my bad. I remember reading this but must have forgotten it again because I mainly played non-story missions before the DLC release.
Sir Sunkruhm 27 Jan, 2023 @ 9:28pm
@Cyntonian you might want to read the description, mate... It does not work for ANY story missions or major side missions, only generic missions. It's literally in bold text in the description.
Cyntonian 27 Jan, 2023 @ 11:41am
It appears to not fully work unfortunately. Started the new DLC story missions earlier and the salvage shares only increase by 3 instead of 5.
El_Globo 27 Jan, 2023 @ 1:16am
Hi

With the latest release of the new DLC "rise of rasalhague" this mod is still working. I do not own the new DLC, but the update for the vanilla game is working (for me). I have tested it yesterday.
It should be fine, as the author says below !
Thanks for this useful mod !
Caruwr Eirin Gwlanus 26 Jan, 2023 @ 6:25pm
Thanks again Menghis Khan, glad your mod's still working
Menghis Khan  [author] 26 Jan, 2023 @ 4:43pm
@Mad_rage12 as per the other times I've commented on this mod to this exact question: this mod should never stop working with new DLC unless they change the negotiation and salvage point system entirely (or they change the balancing of negotiation). This mod only changes a single file containing the base mapping of negotiation points spent to salvage points earned.

That being said, I haven't actually bought the new DLC yet or played this game myself in months. But none of the recent update news has been about them completely changing or rebalancing the negotiation point system from what I've seen.
Mad_rage12 26 Jan, 2023 @ 4:36pm
is this mod currently working with the new DLC?
Caruwr Eirin Gwlanus 24 Jan, 2023 @ 9:37am
Very handy mod, cheers :crashthumbsup::steamhappy:
Negative Entropy 3 Jan, 2023 @ 8:28pm
considering the game dramatically changes the mech build and damage numbers from the base game to make it workable and fun there is no point holding to a thirty year old manual if its unfun. I appreciate this mod and it has made salvage points a viable mechanic.
Alyfox 23 Nov, 2022 @ 2:18pm
Mr_who_42:
the only way to really get 100% salvage rights, in both FM Mercenary (Revised) and Campaign Ops, would be to have an incredibly good reputation (talking top 5% of mercs) or working for a really minor power. combing both to get it more reliably. It uses a 2d6 roll, and you need to roll a *13* or better to get it, meaning you need to have rep or minor power modifiers, which are plusses. If you're working for a great house (except free worlds league) there is an inherent minus on the roll; if you're working for the Combine or CapCon, even a Dragoons Rating of A+ wont get you enough to get 100% rights, as those two have a -2 to the roll, while A+ rating is only +1. Etc.
Animous 31 Oct, 2022 @ 4:03pm
That's understandable.
Menghis Khan  [author] 29 Oct, 2022 @ 3:17pm
@mr_who_42 That addresses the in-lore reasons why 100% salvage _might_ be possible for a merc company to negotiate in certain situations, but not my point that making it 100% salvage across the board (essentially would be giving like 999 salvage shares at 0 negotiation points spent) would be essentially a "cheat" given the game balance and mechanics.
But you are more than welcome to copy and modify this mod to do so yourself if you feel that strongly about it! The blueprint file I modifed for this should be listed in the mod.json file, and you'll need the MW5 editor from the Epic Games Store to modify the UE5 blueprint files and repackage them as a working mod.

I have no intention of creating another version of this mod that I feel equates to being a "cheat" mod for the game. I only make mods that I feel I would use myself, because typically I make them for myself first and then share them with the public.
Animous 28 Oct, 2022 @ 11:28pm
I understand. I get that you want realism but 100% salvage in addition to pay is realistic, especially with top tier outfits that can command top tier pay and benefits. I can quote novels and game books that show that merc companies do negotiate have the opportunity for 100% salvage in addition to pay.

The 1997 field manual gave contract salvage basically said:

"The mercs keep anything they kill or capture that isn't specifically-noted"

"The mercs will be paid fair market value for any salvage recovered"

"The mercs get to keep some, and get paid fair market value for the rest"

"The mercs get nothing"

In the Novel Double Blind the merc company would literally use their mechs to drag as much salvage as they could off the field.

In the novel Wolves on the Border, Wolf's Dragoons got into a salvage dispute with House Kurita because in their contract they got 100% of all salvage rights that wasn't specifically mentioned in the contract as war materials claimed by House Kurita.
Menghis Khan  [author] 27 Oct, 2022 @ 8:25pm
@mr_who_42 Unfortunately I do not plan on making such an expansion to this mod, as I feel that doing so would be *too* unrealistic (there's no way a Great House would pay a merc company to deal with a problem _and_ give you 100% salvage rights to everything from the mission). I also feel it would be way too OP financially, as after just a couple of warfare or otherwise combat-heavy missions you would be essentially set for life.

This is a quality-of-life mod that makes an aspect of the game which I felt was too brittle/strict more flexible, not a cheat mod.
Animous 22 Oct, 2022 @ 10:24pm
I love this mod. I was wondering if it is possible to make a variation of this mod that has 100% salvage? I feel like if I was an elite merc company that I would have in my contract 100% salvage rights. Even with this mod I am often getting only 20-25% of the possible salvage with max salvage shares negotiated and hero faction. I must have left 2-3 regiments of legless/headless worth of mechs on the the field by now simply because I could not salvage them.
Khantemplation 21 Oct, 2022 @ 7:47pm
Works fine for me, running a career mode with all DLCs, don't forget to enable it in the main-menu y'all.
Menghis Khan  [author] 14 Oct, 2022 @ 6:26pm
@Ole it has worked through the last couple of UI changes, since I last played the game after they updated the negotiation UI to be like a series of coloured blocks that fills in as you spend negotiation points. Also the only file this mod changes is the small table that defines how many salvage shares you get for a given number of negotiation points spent, to break this mod they would have to change entirely the negotiation point system or have for some reason switched to using a different table or dynamic calculation of shares per point.
Ole Hockey Thighs 13 Oct, 2022 @ 11:37pm
I'm having issues with this as well. If I had to guess, based on the screenshot you have in here them changing the UI/UX is probably the cause of the issue. Might be trying to read something that isn't there anymore or something similar.

I did just pick the game up so take what I really have no idea what I'm talking about.
🔥Fart-Maker🔥 11 Oct, 2022 @ 8:55pm
Game recently just went on sale so it got a resurgence of popularity
🔥Fart-Maker🔥 11 Oct, 2022 @ 8:52pm
Thanks dad I appreciate you
Menghis Khan  [author] 11 Oct, 2022 @ 5:25pm
Tbh I haven't checked this mod in months, but it only changes 1 file so I would be extremely impressed if any of the recent updates broke this. It made it through both major updates without breaking.

I'll give this another check sometime soon when I have time to re-install this game.
🔥Fart-Maker🔥 11 Oct, 2022 @ 9:54am
doesnt work like most of the mods for this game
noxCodex 4 Sep, 2022 @ 1:00pm
I get the feeling this is a hit and miss for me. I did get 90 shares at the end of one mission (When zero effing mechs were available...) but mostly I get around 30-40. Currently that's putting 5-7 points into salvage at the beginning of the mission which is basically all of them.
Solon 14 Aug, 2022 @ 7:14pm
Be nice if it was 7 shares...pirate days ARRGH!
Snarky Milarky 1 Aug, 2022 @ 3:20pm
This is no longer working for me (did a rando davion battlefield and a rando assassination both were back down to 3 shares NOT campaign or transmission missions) not sure why it's not working but it seems to work for some but not others atm
Menghis Khan  [author] 26 Jul, 2022 @ 2:51pm
It was working as of June 10th or so after the Call to Arms DLC and patch. This mod _shouldn't_ break unless PGI completely changes the way salvage shares and contract negotiation work in the game. It also does not conflict with any other mods that I know of.

Monthly reminder that this mod only works for the randomly-generated missions and some of the High-Value missions (not sure exactly which ones use the random-generated mission template rather than a preset map/scenario). This mod _does not affect_ the number of salvage shares you get from negotiation for the Campaign storyline missions, the Kestrel Lancers Career storyline missions, and most of the High-Value missions (such as the ones where you earn a hero mech at the end of their quest chain, that use preset maps/scenarios).
coltace45 21 Jul, 2022 @ 5:00pm
Working with the patch? i cant tell
