@Pengu im over a month late, but i made a quick vscript to precache all the L4D1 commons and i saw no improvements with the initial lag spike. the lag spike is also more pronounced when using this mod, but less so with the retail addon to this

Get rid of the blood, pale skin, etc and make them look like normal people

Over a decade ago I was dumb and wanting to make an open world game in the source engine and part of it was taking L4D2 infected and cleaning them up to use as regular pedestrians. Nothing ever came of it and I never got around to trying that out, but I'm curious if it wouldve been possible to begin with

I know this is an infuriatingly stupid question, but how hard would it be to "fix" the textures for the infected to make them look like regular people? Or would it be easier just to remake it from scratch?

@Pingu @Lemmestrokeyoshit25 Guys, you should also contact the support system with this, because they answer me according to the same template, "These are problems with your PC", "Unsubscribe from mods to fix the problem". Maybe if there are more requests, they will start to solve something. Because my arguments that everything is fine on L4D2 maps with the same number of mods do not satisfy them.

Same issue. Huge drops at the beginning of L4D1 Maps. Prob a TLS thing.

@Pingu Well, for me, the reason for the drops at the beginning of the map was in the mods for models, skin, textures of the infected. Especially the high-resolution skin mod, since I tested it by unsubscribing from all mods on common infected. Despite the fact that there were still 450+ mods in the subscriptions, but as soon as I renew the subscription to mods with variations and other options for CI, the lags on L4D1 maps appear again.

@RedBigEvilDevil The mods aren't so much at fault, it's just for some reason the TLS team didn't have the foresight to update relists. This probably could be solved with a script that precaches all infected models.

@Pingu Yeah...I have same issue, L4D1 campaigns have huge lag spike at each map starts. Support saying i must unfollow mods :( By trial and error I found out that it was because of the mods on the infected, their appearance and skin, etc. But I didn't know the reason, thanks for pointing it out, I'll send it to them, maybe they'll do something about it.

I looked more into it. It seems like the L4D1 infected models don't even get precached for the L4D1 campaign maps aside from the ones in Last Stand.

From what it looks like, the L4D1 campaigns still precache the L4D2 infected back when they still used them, they didn't bother to update the relists...

I don't think this is necessarily a bug with the mod but I notice horrible frame drops whenever the 'corrected' models are loaded in-game. I tried having the mod as a local addon and tried having it be loaded via gameinfo but the models still seem to not get pre-cached properly.

This isn't a population mod, this only affects the models and textures of the CI. You just have unlucky infected spawns

Maybe the reason is you added "$wound" and "$burning" in the "common_infected_shared" vmt.
Also "$burning" is useless on L4D1 CI , this feature is don't work properly on them

That is not why the gibbing is broken, it's something else. It's more than likely a bug with the method used here

I did say that the mod may or may not work online. As for the female gibbing, I honestly don't know what's causing it, there's nothing wrong with them internally as their gibbing is setup the same way as the TLS models

When I dismembered female infected her arms didn't dismember. Also when I dismembered her with machine gun, her limbs are starting to float. It seems that you haven't fixed everything. (also I don't have any mods which modify infected (only ragdoll physics mod which don't conflict with this mod). Test the mod yourself and see.
