So example, the dinosaur warpaint I made, it is inspired by a fortnite wrap Triassic, same colors, work, design, but rework in my own way of course not to plagiarize. All the warpaints I make are Weapons skins that other games deem'd "Acceptable".
I follow the formula of how most game do Lootboxes, everything on the bottom is trash nobody wants, while everything going up and god tier, like Rainbow Six siege, everyone wants Black ice, but you'll get a trash item that is usually what a sticker warpaint is, and have no choice but to settle with crap but they still strive to get Black ice because it looks nice.
This actually stop being about me wanting a self-made and more about mending the toxic workshop community for warpaints. those I still want a self-made, but it ended up become more then that after seeing so many people non-stop bombarding me on advice on how to approach the workshop.
however, I could argue that the Sam and Max Lugar pistol is in the game and that weapon is really really cartoony.
that why right now the workshop is in such disarray, and you see people doing what im doing, retaliation.
and a lot of people are putting their foot done and telling me "I had enough of Zesty's bullshit", not just him but everyone else, everyone just group them together as i entity.
There a lot happening behind the seen that Im not doing, but rather let happen.
Im fully aware of the actions I been doing since I research what was going on. I know for a fact that if I done what im doing now in any other steam workshop, the developers would of removed me, or gave me some kinda warning a long time ago. But here, what the point if im completely avoided of consequences? The only punishment I could get is if I broke ToS of the steam workshop. I would take myself more seriously and make better warpaints if steam gave more control over what can by accepted in game by via ratings. and ratings doesn't matter in the end because im told repeatedly by other warpaint artist that there warpaints that had a 35 - 40 positive rating when accepted.
Yea, it looks interesting, but how others said, it kinda contrast with the game art style, usually I wouldn't mind so much because what I did also contrast with the game and I didn't cared a lot, but it conflicts with the art style more than other war paints.
It may hurt to read harsh words, but it's always for the betterment of your work.
You actually put effort in this, yes. It actually has a smart idea, yes. The textures DON'T look awful, YES.
But it doesn't belong in the game. It won't be the worst thing added to the game, sure, we have Glacial Glazed, but the execution of this WP is - so ridiculous it may sound - too cartoony for its own sake.
Again, it does NOT look awful, but having the near plane textures & colours next to everything else in the game it's resembling a sore thumb. There are moments when there's so much cartoony simplism that it stands out too much.
