Okay figured it out. It's because if I move Armsmen to Barracks level 2, I need to create entries for both Barracks level 2 and Barracks level 3!

I'm trying to mod your mod to move the Armsmen down to Barracks level 2, using RPFM program.
But for some reason I cannot see them in the recruitment menu after I change your mod. Do you know why I have that problem? Appreciate any advice you can give.

For any reason the warhammers expire and the soldiers do hold nothing in their hands. only the maces are visible. Why?

Shouldn't have to. But once they are in a campaign removing them will of course be an issue for saves with them active.
