While messing around with the eye textures I noticed that the head textures in the mod weren't being used, and instead the vanilla ones are. I also noticed that the eye texture stays even if the colonist has no eye.

that is great, but use at your own risk until i can double check everything x3

For some reason colonists eyes don't close when they are sleeping. Other than that the mod seems like its already fully working for 1.4.

Yeah, first priority was release
New priority is updating everything for 1.3
Next priority is sorting which is which, mostly happy they are working xD

Just had a look at the ears for the other three renewal mods and it looks like they are also having the same problem as the eyes. The EEar and WEar textures for both north and south seem to be swapped.

There is not currently a way to make the ears go above hair for east and west, sadly. I will likely get the eyes straightened out for 1.3 while i'm fixing everything else. You are right, i did swap the south facing textures

I just looked in the mod textures and it looks like the EEye_south and WEye_south textures for the human yellow eyes (H3) are facing the opposite way of all the other south-facing eye textures.

Maybe if you swap the EEye_south and WEye_south texture files for all the other eyes it will fix the problem?

There seems to be an odd bug with all four of the renewal mods where if one eye is destroyed on a pawn the opposite one will disappear when your pawn is looking south, but when the pawn moves east or west the eye that is destroyed correctly disappears. Oddly enough the human yellow eyes seem to act correctly in both cases, but the other pairs of eyes don't.

Also, is there a way you can make the ears for the other renewed races hide behind hair when facing north or south but go over a pawn's hair when they look east or west?

So yeah, this is one of my longer and more involved projects. I realize that its not for everyone, but I'm not changing them. I make mods primarily for myself and then decide to share them. If they are too large for you or you are expecting realistic eyes (don't know why you would with rimworld), this is not the mod for you.

You can make your own adaptation if you like and even use what I've done as a framework. Humans currently have 5 sets of eyes and one set for the bionic hediff. It adds a lot of variety to humans generated and makes me very happy. As I said in the title, if you don't like it don't feel obligated to use it.

might actually be a good idea, u make good mods, i like to draw crazy things^^

youre not wrong in that sense, dragonball has connected eyebrows too. its just that it looks so much like glasses. what i´d do: redraw the eyes with barely visible outline and move the eyebrows up a tiny bit just so theres skin visible in between, and i´d tighten the eye, particularly the corners. that should do the trick. i mean if you wanna i can come to the discord, sure

If you'd like to discuss the creative process that led to the eye design. Feel free to hit up my discord. I was inspired by several forms of both eastern and western art styles while making the eyes, and having a pronounced upper eye is fairly common. I think the general idea is that it denotes the bone ridge above the eye, but I could be wrong.

nice work, step into making rimworld better. also i like the compatibility aspect but those eyes have a rlly bold upper outline(eyebrows? those dont connect to the eye), they look like half bordered glasses. man the eyes are even shaped like glasses, rectangular with rounded edges. some look darker then the face around them, like sunglasses.

I totally respect that. I don't think Gloomy face would be compatible as well but I thought why not ask ^_^ ty for your answer.
Roskii Heiral  [author] 30 Jun, 2021 @ 4:15am
I chose their size and style very specifically. Much like every anime/disney cartoon/loads of comics, I find a larger set of eyes to be more in line with the style I'm going for.

I don't use Gloomy Faces, but I don't think it would be compatible since they do similar things.

Expressive eyes is cool but they kinda look like they are wearing glasses. Maybe they need to be smaller IMO. Regardless it is a good mod and ty for sharing your work. Question, would this work with Gloomy faces?
