No TRG with the MX mags? Either we need to get rid of those goofy MX mags completely, or at least get a short bullpup with them. Heck, there are already crazy drum mags for the bullpups, which no one could possibly get their arms around.

The way my weapons work is with the MagazineProxy function, which allows some weapons to use different magazine models depending on the magazine inserted. Not all weapons support this function though, including the Navid. Basically this means that even if I put Zafir boxes in there, the model will still show a Navid box on the gun

First of, i already know about BWMod, i just hoped we could get something that's maybe closer in quality to vanilla. Secondly, wouldn't it be possible to have them use lim-85 or zafir belt boxes, i mean surely the 7.62x39 mm and 7.62 mm Nato aren't that different in size, are they?

Would be possible, but i chose against it back then because the cartridges in the ammo belt visible on the gun just look too huge for it to be 5.56/7.62
If you want those guns in those calibers though, i recommend checking out the BW Mod, which adds both MG4 and MG5

I actually tested converting the G3 rifles to 5.56 some time ago, worked pretty well - maybe a project for a different person!

Oh haha, thanks for asking! This is the last thing I expected here. Im in college to become a nurse and its extremely intense, i only have very little time to play at all. My interest in Arma has sadly declined a lot with the appearance of games like Ready or Not, Squad and Insurgency, which all fill the need of realistic shooter games for me without the bugginess of Arma. Maybe I will one day get random motivation again to work on something for Arma, but dont expect anything really.

Thanks to everyone who added my mod though! Im very glad about its success.

does this do anything to the evo scorpion, i love the look of the gun, but damn it barely does anything in damage. i dont expect it to chanber rifle rounds but 45 or other things would be awesom.

Its all optional! if you change only the magazine, the new weapon will have the exactly same stats apart from damage. Sounds is somewhat difficult to do, as is recoil, since both are tied to the firemodes of a weapon! I only use recoil templates of other weapons
Its best to just keep digging into my mods - its all in there!

i managed to do it! got myself a pbo manager and dug into your mod :D i thank you a lot!
i have put CBA_556x45_G36 mags into AKs and the magazine actually fits and doesn't clip (the drum is kinda crazy as well but it works)
now what i have to know is what else do i have to change ? recoil ? sound ?

Its not that difficult, all I do is create new weapons that inherit everything from the base weapon and then change the magazineWell so that it takes different magazines, optionally change a few stats too. As for practically doing it coding-wise, I cant really give a short explanation here! that would be too complicated. I'd recommend using any addon of mine as an example, just look through the files and try stuff!

Personally, I like the Type 115 even more for its 50, but 6 round slugs and buckshot do pretty well in CQB, too. We really need access to subsonic rounds, though. Maybe I should start carrying those Halo-inspired 50 cal pistols from Optre more often. Not quite Beowulf, but a little more power to them even than 50 AE. None of these would probably be necessary if there was any legit subsonic 5.56 ammo for ACE, though

Promet for 7.62 Nato was planned, but to be honest, I barely have time and motivation nowadays to do any modding. Maybe one day I will do a few more weapons, but no promises!

to do his guns in .300 blk and 7.62 NATO, but if he can't, it'd be cool to get the Promet & Type 115 from you in those calibers. NI Arms + its ACE compat mod do a good .300 blk, and both ACE and KA Weapons Pack 4 do 7.62 NATO, as I'm sure you know. So, the ammo is out there to use. To have buck shot, slugs, grenades, or 50 beowulf underslung on a gun that can also do both HV marksman shooting and subsonic rounds would be very useful.

Alright I have um, rethinked it a little
How about a 5.56 Mk-I EMR ? Same velocity, same accuracy, less recoil, maybe a 30 round mag or stick to the 25 rnd, a little lighter. (It would not be OP, 5.56 negates that instantly)
Why ?
You know the Mk-12 SPR, a DMR based on the M16, something like that.
Why ? For some close range infantry support it is nice to have

Also gimmie some of them sweet FAL mags in AKs if you get the chance. :> Modder by the name of Anthrax did that with his Continent in Arms mod and it's kinda aesthetic. Although his is the CUP mod, I bet you could do the same thing with Western Sahara's FALs and some AK-12s or whatever. Or just butcher a bunch of guns from CUP later, but I think I already mentioned that in an earlier comment.

Perhaps save these ideas for a separate pack since that would possibly create a dependency. I am not sure if magazines obey the same rules as guns do for DLC restrictions. I don't think they do? But I am unsure.

Either way keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more.

That is definitely not allowed.

Also can you add the SDAR as a Kel-Tec RFB? It'd take M14 magazines. I don't think that has been done yet.

Interesting :o But Aegis has had those AKs for a long time now, Im pretty sure they have a different way to crack the encryption. You will definitely need the Contact DLC to use any alternative weapon variants, same as the Apex or Marksman weapons. I'll look into it and maybe throw out a few more variants some time

The Contact weapons are now accessible! The Aegis mod already added variant of the AK weapons found there but we need the Prophets and shotguns! Also, will I need to have Contact to use the new variants?

Well CUP is a pretty open-ended license, so you're fine meddling with those guns, that much I know for certain. You just have to make sure you aren't ripping the assets completely. Like you can't copypaste models from CUP into your mod but you can make a mod that uses CUP models as a prerequisite with CUP loaded.

Im already doing the recoil thing actually! I give guns a recoil pattern of comparable guns, like the Katiba 5,56 uses the recoil from the Mk20/TRG-21 (cant remember which one) since those are also 5,56 bullpup weapons

As for other mods, I have thought about it! But Im not sure it will be okay with the original mod creators

Oh, word of advice. If you want any semblance of balance, you should copy the recoil patterns of the original guns onto the guns that are receiving the new mag, and not the other way around.

An AKM with FAL mags that has the recoil pattern of an AKM is just a straight upgrade to a FAL, which makes it overpowered. Conversely, a hypothetical FAL shooting 5.56 but still has the recoil of a FAL is something that nobody will ever use.

You might already do this, but in case you don't, I strongly advise it. Anthrax made a similar change to his Continent in Arms mod after I brought up this imbalance issue. It's a little extra work, but definitely well worth it.

If you ever get the chance, a similar mod made with CUP would be awesome. I have previously seen the mod maker Anthrax make some cursed gun mashups that work really well such as the M14 in 7.62x39 which you already have here, or AKs chambered in FAL mags.

I've been wanting to see a Groza with some funky alternative mags.

This mod has my support merely for the fact that it makes the Katiba shoot 5.56 in real life instead of dumb made-up caseless rounds because ArmA 3 alpha devs decided "it's a feature, not a bug" that guns don't eject casings... despite the fact that the in-game model shows casings...

Thanks! The SPAR and MX are really difficult because of their tiny magazine well, almost all magazines clip the weapon somewhere. And what do you mean with the Mk18 and full auto?

Sounds really cool, the only problem is that there are no dynamic 9mm mag models, I'd have to make a Stanag mag with 9mm ammo (which exists IRL)
