really pretty and well designed map. i really like this concept of seeing how the transition between "old" and "new" Aperture was like.

Like a lot of people, apparently, I completely missed how to activate the vital apparatus vent in the first room. I noticed the Portal 1 model and assumed it was there to help set the era since the chamber was easy enough without it, but then I read the comments 😅

Rubycario, where is the cube dropper? Can't find any cube in the 1st test?

Loved it!

Finally got around to playing this one. Both puzzles were pretty good, and the style was equally impressive. I somehow missed the cube dropper in the first test and solved it without using it but I like when puzzles can be open ended like that. Thanks for creating.

Beautiful map and simple puzzle :steamthumbsup:

Wow that was a nice test, I would love to see more leading up to and finishing in the portal 1 asthetic as I haven't ever seen that done before and you are def one of the best to interpret that.

Nice map. My only problem was that I overshot the last move and had to re-start.
AndrewFLWR 9 Oct, 2021 @ 6:24am
I would love to see a new map for this.

The puzzle layout feels a bit janky but the puzzles themselves are good and the visuals are great. Thumbs up!

I love the use of P1 props as a representation of an early modern design, as some sort of "90s style". Very clever :steamthumbsup:

@quaternary
There was an intended solution for both puzzles, however as I hammerised the map, I slowly discovered alternate solutions to the puzzles that I had not accounted for, I decided it wasn’t worth fixing them as instead it fit the Portal 1 nature of the map and it was too late to fix them.

The themeing on this is really incredible, huge fan of the way this looks and i'm surprised i haven't seen this more haphazard type of map construction before since it fits right in with the underground theme. I liked puzzle 2 but i'm not sure what the actually intended solution to puzzle 1 is

Wow, what an amazing atmosphere. Such a brilliant choice of music, I loved that. The first puzzle was alright, but the second one was very nice - highly elegant with almost no elements at all. Very good map, big thumbs up :D

Good puzzle. Thanks for making! :)
Chaosmaker243 8 Jul, 2021 @ 1:48pm
I loved that! I would love to see more of this style! It's very interesting!
Avast AntiPony 9445 7 Jul, 2021 @ 8:33am
It's possible to beat both testing areas without any cube.
Stormflare 7 Jul, 2021 @ 6:29am
Awesome map! Usually I don't like conversion gel puzzles, but these two were quite fun.

Es muy difícil para mi :steamsad: luego de una hora logre superar este mapa, a 10 FPS encima... jajaja :steamsad: creí que no lo lograría, gracias por esa canción de fondo, la amo :p2cube:

Good map. There are some plot problems that I saw on this map. I understand that is your new interpretation from the 80s era. But still, I will point them.

New pedestal button was already in use during the 80s. Doesn't make sense to use old pedestal button.
The use of portal 1 dropper and emancipation grill were strange, since they both exist, but in parallel with portal 2 objects, and not simply a time that aperture decided to scrap those models. I believe the dropper that Aperture was using during 80s was the old one from 50s. The Grill in the 80s was the old one too. But the buttons, indicators and the cube models are all correct, since there is a poster in-game that shows that.

Thanks for creating.

@joe98 Place a portal there after you get the portal gel on. That way you get get the bounce gel beyond it.
ZAEROS 6 Jul, 2021 @ 5:43am
Good fun old style map, Enjoyed, Thank you.

Not bad! Very aesthetically pleasing. Can be skipped entirely, though: https://youtu.be/XEI50hkIQeg

Very nice; thanks.

@Reika

Yet you cannot really utilise it. There's no real advantage you gain.
portal bump  [author] 4 Jul, 2021 @ 8:50pm
@Andy T

There are a few ways you can solve the puzzle, using the cube dropper is one of them.
Andy T 4 Jul, 2021 @ 8:24pm
Is Cube dropper meant as Red Herring? Because I did not use it, neither can I find the trigger for it. Simple two mini-chambers lazy weekend runs.

Nice stuff! I like the rather unique mix of styles.
quatrus 4 Jul, 2021 @ 7:17am
Very nice map - tricky gel placement to get bounce to exit area. WEll done thanks for creating -will follow.
lillonaute 4 Jul, 2021 @ 5:54am
Nice design but I encountered a technical issue: the bounce gel in the second room actually landed me on top of the wall in the next section, and I then could not get down in a way that put me back in the map. I was able to jump down and wander around the area outside the test chamber, but not get back into it.
joe98 4 Jul, 2021 @ 5:06am
In the second room I cannot land on the blue goo panel. Instead I fling OVER the panel. Mo matter what I do I cannot land ON the panel.
RedstoneParadox 3 Jul, 2021 @ 9:49pm
Good puzzles, but I was able to juggle the white gel to avoid using the cube in the first puzzle .
Fuku Yamama 3 Jul, 2021 @ 9:36pm
Very nice, I'm looking forward to the next installment.
