The author has stated multiple times that this mod is broken and can't be fixed without redoing literally everything. Just putting it here because the actual conversations about this are a few pages back and not the first thing people see in the comments.

Any chance you can work on the melee to bring it up to the post DLC sound effects? This pack is great but melee either makes no sound or sounds pretty pathetic compared to vanilla.

This is so close to being absolutely perfect,
HOWEVER, I feel that all weapons (Especially things like the MGs, ACs, Gauss and to an extent SRMs) feel very off because they're not at all muffled like you're sitting in the cockpit.

At the moment it all sounds like you're standing in the open right next to the weapon firing, instead of inside a sealed, armoured cockpit with a helmet and comms equipment on.
All you'd need to do is put the sound library through a pretty weak low pass filter and you'd have a perfect outcome.

I feel the low pass filter would both be more realistic, but maybe more importantly, reduce ear strain, as loud high end tends to do that. If you listen to the vanilla noises, all of them are relatively 'muffled' which is a little less ear-grating.

The quality of sounds in this mod are far, far better though and I wish I knew how to find and add the low pass filter to the sounds myself without breaking something.

This really is an amazing mod which can do so much for refreshing the MW5 experience. Have you considered doing a-la-carte versions? Perhaps something with integration into Mod Options (if possible) to allow for a more customization?

There are sounds/classes that I'm absolutely in love with (looking at you, lasers), and some that for personal reasons I'm not a huge fan of (ACs, PPCs, etc.) usually because they're TOO realistic (e.g., they grate on the ears after many repeated plays). So with that I do find myself wishing for "line-item versions" where possible, but maybe that's just me.

Again love this mod, great work!

Any chance of this getting a update or re-release? I really like all the sounds in this mod but since its not been updated in quite a while its missing a couple of sounds or has some bugs such as those big canons in some of the bases having no audio at all and i heard its something similar with some of the new mechs missing walking sounds and such. Im aware that you are currently working on another mod more actively but personally its not quite my cup of tea but i can understand why this mod has not been updated because of that and from the description and some of the comments it sounds like you are having issues updating this one anyways. But other than that this is a great audio mod and it would be nice to see it be updated but i understand if you can't or want to focus on your other projects

Got a problem since i ahve installed that mod.
Everytime a Rival Mercernary is joining the fight (ally or hostile) the intro music isn't played. And the BG music is quiet until the end of the mission

If Khornz would correct me where I'm wrong, the way I've been following it is this: The mod was made a while ago, Khornz somehow lost the ability to adjust the mod without completely breaking it, and it's basically a miracle that any part of this mod still works in any capacity with current versions of the game.

It's been confusing trying to put things together by reading the discussions in the comments (especially for a smooth brain like me) so I really hope I haven't completely butchered the facts lol.
Galaxyfalcon 29 Jan, 2023 @ 4:49pm
Did DLC4 break this? I used to get comms chatter in the menu and in battles among other sounds but while some seem to be working (?) a lot aren't. Am I crazy?
Cyntonian 23 Jan, 2023 @ 1:07am
This mod has become absolutely crucial to my MW5 experience. I hope DLC4 does not break it. Or if it does you're still willing to update it. I do also like your other sound mod, and even though the muffle there is certainly closer to realistic, I just prefer the clearer boom the unmuffled sounds give.
NeighborJoe33 1 Dec, 2022 @ 5:21pm
Apologies if this has been answered before, but is the main menu track posted anywhere online? It has been stuck in my head for nearly a year. Thanks in advance.

It would be a cool idea, if the sound system was more fleshed it, be possible but I am working with very limited stuff, the best I was able to do was tie some sounds into other audio to give the illusion of it happening.
Wayz 11 Nov, 2022 @ 2:01am
No worries, was just thinking about old cars, they all have odd rattles and noises from things in the dash working loose over years and I bet 300 year old mechs would have their own quirky sounds too. I just thought such detail would accentuate the cockpit focus but if cant be done than cant be done.
Kh0rnz  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 1:20am
I have already reduced a lot of the muffle to the point now where some audio just sounds a bit to clear compared to being sealed off, taking any more off would just be reverting to 3rd person feel, the fact you can hear so much already is already stretching it. It should by all accounts be even more muffled to be a true cockpit setting but then you would hardly hear any thing.
Kh0rnz  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 1:16am
The extra cockpit audio for rattles and so forth is simply not possible given the limited audio system of MW5 all it has its basic impact sounds and no set up for those kinds of things, it is not impossible to do it but would ruin compatibility with other mods having to modify Blueprints.
Wayz 10 Nov, 2022 @ 12:55pm
Would add a ton of immersion to the audio cockpit experience.
Wayz 10 Nov, 2022 @ 12:54pm
Updated versions sound much better and muffled cockpit sounds growing on me. Still sounds a little like fighting underwater though. One thing that could breathe some vibrancy into it is sharper impact sounds to really let you know you are being targeted. In particular relentless machine gun fire impacts chewing away at ballistic armour. Also another idea I had and no idea if can be implemented is cockpit rattles, wrrr's, grinds, screeching and vibrations etc when the mech starts to take structure damage.
Enforcer 7 Nov, 2022 @ 9:06am
Would love to see the latest on here...
Bubbles 4 Nov, 2022 @ 3:51pm
Literally spending 1 minute reading the last few comments would answer why your issue occurs.
Sharfgh 4 Nov, 2022 @ 1:25pm
Sound effects break and go completely silent when a lot of weapons are being fired at once.
Solon 28 Oct, 2022 @ 6:27pm
Just saw this at Nexus.
Happy moments.
Kh0rnz  [author] 28 Oct, 2022 @ 3:46pm
Yea I can't make any changes to UI even volume control is not a option at this point. This goes for Mechlab and menu ui it's all stock tho I have all the new sounds ready to go.

Again sorry I can't change the UI stuff but when I can I will.

Trying to by pass the limits imposed after DLC 1 that limited the ammount of audio that can play at any given time
Wayz 28 Oct, 2022 @ 3:25pm
Also that god awful incoming relentless screeching from Vtol/tank hordes firing AC's has finally stopped.
Wayz 28 Oct, 2022 @ 3:22pm
Damn, yeah target switching chimes are also very loud by comparison and will also be part of UI sounds I guess. The MASC I will just have to keep it humming so that it doesn't power down lol.
The other problem with the muffling and having to boost volume to appreciate the sounds is mechlab and menu on the leopard becomes very loud when return from a fight. Besides this the MG's, missiles and Guass all sound great! Need to try some PPG's next.
Kh0rnz  [author] 28 Oct, 2022 @ 3:13pm
I don't think I'll rever weapon volume it's intended to be dulled give that the weapons even on your mech are on the exterior so they are not as muffled as those on enemies but still follow the same pattern.

For the MASC nothing I can do the UI is still borked can't make any changes audio wise to those sounds as of yet.
Wayz 28 Oct, 2022 @ 2:14pm
The weapon sounds are a little subdued like they are muffled on my 5.1. To compensate I have turned up the volume and dulled the volume on voices as they are much louder. Any chance you could dull the volume on the "crack" upon activating Masc/Supercharger though? Its extremely jarring and sharp compared to the sound effects.
Wayz 28 Oct, 2022 @ 1:28pm
Cheers for all the hard work, appreciate you.
Kh0rnz  [author] 28 Oct, 2022 @ 12:54pm
Cockpit sound mod 3.0 sounds of the succession wars mod is now live.

https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/756?tab=posts&BH=0

This older mod will remain up for any one who wants it as 3.0 is a cockpit styled audio mod and may not be someone's cup of tea.
Kh0rnz  [author] 9 Oct, 2022 @ 2:02am
What annoys me is I can't make any changes to the UI audio that section is still very much bugged but the moment I ca work with it I have changes I think the first thing I'll start with is dropping the audio ducking so every time Betty or Ryana says something it doesn't just nuke all other audio.
Wayz 8 Oct, 2022 @ 12:31pm
Was suggesting mod options because others clearly do like Betty etc, everyone gets what they want that way but I hear ya. Betty optional sub mod maybe? Either way its more about what you want being your mod & I can live with it I have to=)
Kh0rnz  [author] 8 Oct, 2022 @ 7:18am
disabling it is easier other wise it requires more code input I can also just flat out mute Ryana as well.
Wayz 8 Oct, 2022 @ 2:39am
Can you lower the volume on Betty or better yet add a toggle on/off using mod options? I mean, we have this big ass red square around our cross hairs that silently tells us that we have a lock without a computer confirming this for players like we are stupid or have no eyes to see, over, and over and ...yeah you get the picture ;P
Kh0rnz  [author] 8 Oct, 2022 @ 2:01am
Sadly the UI is still bugged, every attempted I made to update it failed I think the entire bank is broken, no one else can update it either. But I manage to give betty her beeps and boops for warnings I couldn't change any thing else I'll do some more preview stuff as more progress is made. Maybe something like a Jagermech with its AC array.
Kh0rnz  [author] 8 Oct, 2022 @ 1:54am
The auto cannons were remade with the cockpit interior in mind it sounds different given to the circumstances of where you are now as with all guns you are situated away from them all the weapons will be muffled and have a greater punch and quick fall off as is par the course of most actual weapons. Same goes with the reloading the internals are located away from the pilot in a secure compartment and thus would in any normal circumstance not be heard but there is indeed new audio for reloading each caliber type tho no exaggerated as before.
Bubbles 7 Oct, 2022 @ 6:41pm
I agree with Wayz, the autocannon noises sounded better originally (imo)
Wayz 7 Oct, 2022 @ 12:55pm
Sounds bloody awesome, only thing that leaps to mind is that it missing that sexy shell ejection and reload fx for the ballistics. That and Betty I think will annoy me after a while with target status notifications but meh, sign me up!

Kh0rnz  [author] 29 Sep, 2022 @ 1:33pm
The soundscape is still kinda busted I can't change the UI sounds unfortunately so all the new beeps and boops I had planned will have to be set aside for later but there is a lot of work to do I have to now account for new assets in game like Orbital guns, the new melee weapons the re implementation of all the environmental audio (Building destruction ,explosions ETC) All the weapons are getting a overhaul as well so there is plenty to do once I got enough for demonstrations there will be you tube videos under the title of Sounds of the succession wars cockpit sound mod.
Wayz 29 Sep, 2022 @ 2:59am
looking forward too it asam currently back on PGI's sounds as no sound mod I can find seems to fill your shoes.

Melee audio is not working
Kh0rnz  [author] 21 Sep, 2022 @ 1:56pm
No problem I recently got into TT Alpha strike starting my venture into battletech Table top so I guess I got inspired to try again with this audio tho because of the back up being ruined in about 50 different kinds and also being rusty I am going back to working with what I have which is the cockpit stuff so to sum it up really the new mod will be like Cockpit mod attenuations but with most of the audio from Sounds of the succession wars I do hope to post demos on my youtube when I get more space to actually install the game the mod tools took up virtually all remaining hard drive.

I hope you will enjoy the new concept or rather return of the cockpit sound mod.
Delta Hound 21 Sep, 2022 @ 6:14am
Thanks for the update Khornz, thanks for all the effort and don't worry about it, I don't expect you to bend over backwards for something you aren't getting paid for, wish you all the best. :praisesun:
