man, i really wanna play this whole thing, but there're so many bugs that just keep me from progressing everywhere, like in act 2 with rumbi where the camera is locked to the vent you exit from so i have no idea what to do and end up soft-locked respawning as rumbi, or act three where the boss gets stuck on nothing trying to head over to his third point in the chase sequence, teleports over running in place, and you can't hit him to progress

i loved the first part, kingslayer looks stunning, sucks i can't complete this one

I decided to go back and play the first 2 mods after playing Kingslayer, but now I'm a bit confused: In the recap for King Slayer, it is implied there is a section following what Bow Girl and MU were doing in one of the first two mods, but, they aren't in either?

God DAMN, man!! This is by far the best Hat in Time mod I've played! I did notice some parts that needed polishing like the the fight against the ship, and there were points where the Chameleon appeared out of bounds, but overall this was fantastic! You even implemented a new game mechanic, that is amazing! You took what was basically a love letter to James Bond and Metal Gear, and made it into something much more. You should really take a career in game design because this mod was epic! I hope you put your talents to good use in the future; thank you for this amazing experience Elsie.

I think I like this part better than part 3 just for the sake of more simplicity, and it also just feels a bit less overwhelming. You can also mess around with custom playables in this one too and see how they effect they cutscenes which is always funny lmao. Every part of the saga is fantastic either way.

after the cutscene of entering the base, you can just go backwards and fall into the void until you eventually hit a death barrier making you start the entire playable section over

Just beat all Acts.. Final was a little rough but it took 2 deaths to beat it and one agonizing glitch where I died just before my health would have refilled (oddly enough I was able to keep "alive" by mashing) and I hate that bullet hell attack and the electric AOE. I don't know how I dodged it occasionally and I would just take damage. This mod made me want to play the Metal Gear Solid series.. I don't know if you set out to make a mod to make someone want to play the series, but good job, you accomplished it. I don't do well with stealth games but maybe hopefully it's more gentle than what I hear Splinter Cell is like.. Good job.. I love this. My only issues are a lack of good feedback in the final boss segment to know how to dodge stuff.

Just a minor clarification.. this isn't the timer of the bomb.. but before it despawns because you took too long or missed like a complete moron.. just in case you were confused by timer

Booting it back up seems to have fixed the glitch. By any chance does using Time Stop near the Cherry segment to the Dweller snakes fuck up the timer needed to blow up the last generator or was that a soft lock glitch? Cause I had no issue and didn't use Time Stop.... maybe it was a weird coincidence

Great Mod with a compelling story.

I would like to say there was a weird bug where during the Finale something blocked me from throwing the exploding cherries at the shielded enemy (being vague as to not spoil things for someone reading this before playing) while I was holding the Blade of Independance (That isnt much of a spoiler right?)

I did manage by dodging until the enemy happened to be near one of their explosions though.
when the enemy took my items I was able to throw them though.

just thought you'd like to know.

all in all awesome work with an awesome finale!

Time attack part really sucks

I need suicide button or restart button or kill me instantly whenever i fell.

Because whenever i fell i need to start all over with not refreshed timer which is unavoidable fail

And why the hell chapter 2, 3, 4 need to start over whenever i die?

I mean look, this is a large and awsome mod yeah i get it.
And chapter 2, 3, 4 are huge as chapter 1.

Which is starting over middle of level feels like complete bullshit and exhausting.

But hey this mod is very cool

It's just harsh and unforgiving whenever i have some skill issue.

-Considering The Penultimate Moment does not let you use hats or badges to reach the end, the time limit can be pretty short
-When you fall and go back to the beginning, you have to wait until the timer runs out because you aren't going to reach the end anyway with the little time you have, which is something that will happen often without a no bonk badge

I believe all this can be fixed in the upcoming sequel, there are some many great things about this mod and it makes me excited to wait for the next epic adventure!

-Controls and mechanics for the Bullet Hell sections can be polished more, hitting an enemy does not give you a visual feedback for example
-While I like that the mod has voice acting, the processing effect used for the shapeshifters can cause them to sound intelligible, I think I heard some high frequencies on it, but I still believe the distorted effect can be achieved without sacrificing the ability to understand the characters
-Some custom songs are mixed extremely loud (like in The Penultimate Moment)
-The briefing dialogue can be really long, some dialogues can also extend for a while
-Considering the mod it is more dialogue and story focused, a more interesting characterization for the shapeshifters could be given for their reasons for wanting to destroy the world
-For all the creativity this mod has to offer, the fact the last boss was very similar to Mustache Girl was slightly disappointing.

-The maze-like sections in some of the levels could also have more markers for when you have already completed them or distinction locations to know where you have been
-The splits between acts is really long, while I appreciate having the mod being split in 5 acts, truth is that it could be split in 10 or even 12 acts instead, for people like me is really important because it means I have to wait for my day off and dedicate the free time of an afternoon for a 1 or 2 hour level instead of being able to play a single 20 or 30 minute level before going to work in weekdays
-Bosses also lack their own act
-Management Chamber 2 projectile and cherry mechanics are completely broken and I couldn't beat them without mods
-Management Chamber 3 can get you soft locked

This is one of the best mods I have ever seen so far, the amount of ideas and creativity and ideas it is unmatched, includes lots of different mechanics, stealth, puzzle solving, 2D sections, some parodies of famous bosses and even bullet hell sections. The settings are really colorful and surreal and the atmosphere is fantastic, the art direction is also impeccable and it shows ambition in every single aspect that composes it. I consider this an essential mod and I recommend it to anyone who wants to have more A Hat in Time content.

Some notes I made while playing the mod:
-A few sections could have been benefited of having a marker for the finding Hat to use in case you get lost
-GamerGirl sections have a really small screen which makes them a bit of hard for to see for someone like me
-Bullet Hell sections break Assist Mode entirely

Somehow I ended up softlocked at the Rumbi Bomb section. I came out of the vent, ended up in a place with a fixed camera, fell down, got caught, couldn't move until the timer ran out, fell off again, failed to explode, and got completely softlocked. I don't even know what I'm supposed do do there, the fixed camera is a serious issue in that regard.

Honestly this mod started out really good (can't hate an intro that includes snake eater) but it's brought down quickly by a lack of checkpoint in the later stages with one of the later ones having none at all (I think it was Act 4 but it's been a week or so since I played it so I can't be sure).

There were also several sections where you are asked to pilot hat kids spaceship, but the spaceship controls are so sluggish that it just isn't fun, this is required for the final boss of the mod which is so drawn out and unfair that it made me give up.

It makes me sad because I feel like a lot of effort was put into this mod but it really feels like it crumbles under the weight of it's own ambition.

It's hard to take the claim that there's 4 original bosses seriously since the bosses are a remix of other boss attacks, a sonic boss, a kirby boss, and mustache girl... Twice

Overall it seemed to lose that 007/MGS vibe and by the halfway point turned mostly into an annoying stealth section which I managed to break the last part of with the time stop hat so. Then came act 4, with an astonishing lack of checkpoints and a timed segment.

4/10 imo, it had a strong start and shows a remarkable amount of modding skill but I can't get around the annoying level of references, not homages and not parodies, references. I wish I could have seen what this team could have done were it not so seemingly obsessed with doing other games' concepts ala New Vegas: The Frontier. If you want to take this critique as me hating or something like that feel free to I guess

I find it disingenuous to say this mod is "Perfect" as several comments have. The first mod didn't overstay its welcome and was based pretty much around 1 joke. The sequel mod however seems to have started to take itself way too seriously. Or it doesn't and I can't tell because the tone is as focused as a grade school kid. Referential humor also isn't really my thing, so that lost something for me. It was everywhere, just to list some of the ones I remember immediately:

- Mithrix (Like... All of Mithrix, down to some of the lines outright)
- Eggman
- Taboo (From smash bros brawl but could be wrong about that one)
- Zero 2 from Kirby
- Metal gear at minimum twice

This mod is really amazing. The amount of passion and work put into it is stunning. Probably the best A Hat in Time mod out there!

Unfortunately, there are some things which makes playing it very tedious and reduces the fun significantly. The biggest problem:
- So many softlocks. I probably got stuck in every single act. In act 3, the boss got stuck in a chase sequence which required me to play the entire act again (where are the checkpoints?) :/


I know the mod should not be easy but please put a ton of checkpoints in it. It is neccessarry if you get stuck to reset yourself!

This is great! Act 3 is by far my favourite but the lack of checkpoints in act 4 was a let down. The void was very cool tho so it made up for it quickly. Thanks for such a great mod! :)

I'm surprised there isn't a bug fix discussion thread of sorts. The only really egregious bugs I've been having is in the second and third acts. There was a minor one in Act 2 where the Rumbi mine section wouldn't change camera angles, leading to confusion and a reset, but the biggest one is with the Timmy fight in Act 3. Sometimes he just gets stuck in his pathing, I hit him, then he snaps to the next position in his pathing and becomes invincible, subsequently softlocking me. He did it after the first hit, he just did it after the second hit, and I don't want to keep going European Extreme with the cameras or the one CAW agent sitting in the corner just to move the chase one path point at a time after replaying through the entire level again.

Beyond that, this mod's been going great. The Gatekeeper Ocelot duel was a big highlight for me - I love that fight in MGS3.

Holy peck, this was an awesome mod! I enjoyed every second of it. I did get softlocked a few times in a couple boss battles (Acts 2, 3) as well as in Act 1 where I jumped on one of the rocks and ended up in a GameGirl(tm) minigame and had to restart the level. Also, the amount of checkpoints in Act 5/the finale is abhorrent and lackluster; the act could have benefited from more checkpoints as restarting the whole level just to fall again is deeply disheartening.

However, I did enjoy the mod; I sure hope there's more coming soon! Thank you for making such a great mod (and its predecessor)!

This game very good so far which is why it is sad that there are some game-breaking glitches I have uncovered. In one of the Game Girl minigames, I somehow managed to clip out of bounds and could not return. Similarly, I had also managed to get out of bounds and fall forever in the room where you try to press a button and the gravity changes. (Both of these glitches I found in Act 2). It would also be nice if there was some hint you had to ground-pound the pilot guy, as it took me lots of tries to figure out that was what you have to do.

Not sure what's going on, having trouble in the final boss fight, the mafia ball keeps going straight through her, making it impossible to deal any sort of damage, I think it's a glitch
