This mod is broken for 4 0.X.

Find one of many, many alternative, updated Ethic Point mods on Workshop if using the 4.0.X version of Bug Branch.

Any chance for you to make this into a technology instead of a base addition? I know its possible to make a tech that grants ethic points. Just make it impossible for Gestalt civs to research

This really needs an update as it breaks several ethics, including materialist, spiritualist, xenophile, and militarist.

Needs an update, if you want to do it yourself you can copy the 00_ethics.txt from Bug Branch and edit line 2678, changing the cost from 1 to 3 for the gestalt ethic

through some testing I found that this mod is deleting the 2 vanilla human factions from the starting factions list, it's the only mod among my mods that is doing so and I tested it with only this mod and the EC bug branch main mod

I've done a bit more testing and it seems to be something to do with prescripted countries (I like to play without any prescripted countries in the menu so I always do a search for the prescripted countries and delete them from the files while keeping the files, left blank, in place). It works with no issue as long as there is one prescripted country (even if from a different mod), but as soon as there are no prescripted countries it won't load at all.

Guess I'll just need to design a prescripted country of my own!

Still seems a bit strange though as I've never had crashes as a result of havnig no prescripted countries before and I'm using basically the same mod list as when I last played heavily modded back in 3.4!

However again without this mod active I was still able to launch the game with no scripted countries yesterday, include the base version of bug branch with just the 5 ethic points available.

Also getting ctd's before game start with this mod active. Deactivating the mod prevents the crashes.

it was stuff such as the main human empires being named humans1 and humans2 and then the other empires having lowercase letter at the start of the empire names. Even an empire called VOOR.

@mark07 You would probably need to make your own custom mod that edits common/ethics/00_ethics.txt, if you try to edit one of the mods you already have from the workshop it likely won't work

I changed number of ethic points from 7 to 1O how can I also change cost of gestalt so that normal empires do not have those?

@Punished Dwight, this seems to be a compatibility issue, since when I open the game with only UI Overhaul Dynamic, Ethics & Civics: Bug Branch, and Ethics and Civics: Bug Branch Submod: 7 Ethic Points, the pre-scripted empires are still there
