do you plan to remake other missions from classic arma games?
cringe
I'd like to know, because I don't want to look like a moron in front of friends after having asked them to download the mods.
I really hope to see more scenarios from you
I'd like to remake more of the campaign but I am constrained by time. Manhattan is cool but besides the problems you mentioned, it's also not a particularly unique mission concept. My first choice for a remake would be Bitter Chill, it's a fantastic mission from a storytelling standpoint as it gives payoff to many of the choices made by the player in previous missions, takes the campaign into its "Act II", and has great aesthetics and gameplay.
The main overall problem with Arma 2 missions is actually their use of modules which simply do not exist in the same form in A3, such as Ambient Combat, Civilians, and Civilian Vehicles. It's a shame that BIS never saw fit to port these modules as they are far superior to what we have in Arma 3. The more arcane things like FSMs are actually straightforward in that they function exactly the same way in A3 as they did in A2.
Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with ArmA coding (I helped contribute to the ArmA Rearmed 2 mod which remade the ArmA 1 campaigns for ArmA 2) but I hope one day we see all of the pre-3 campaigns in an engine like this. After the loss of Armaholic, it's become very hard to mod the older games, meaning projects like the one I contributed on are not easily available for download.
Willing to cheerlead and test any future efforts with stuff like this!
Even this mission is more of a remake than a direct port. I reused existing scripts where applicable but I wrote a lot of my own code to replace the existing cutscenes. I also made the actual mission from scratch instead of changing classnames.
Arma 2 missions are full of spaghetti code and use features that are no longer in Arma 3. As an example, I had to edit every script in this mission to use Arma 3's new remoteExec commands instead of the old MP framework. The more complex missions use modules that aren't in Arma 3 at all and are very difficult to port. The cutscenes all use tailor-made animations that, for the most part, have not been ported to Arma 3.

i hope we get the full campaign.
