The best mod that I've found. It improved a lot my framerate. Thank you so much

Good to have the original terrains, thanks very much! I have a suggestion: remove the startup\user.cfg from this modpack because a) it makes this modpack desync sensitive and overrides other user.cfg mods and b) it's not very useful (the only items in the user.cfg are noWaterReflection and noWaterRefraction and you can set those manually in the options menu, anyway).

Hey Morness, sorry about my negative remark earlier. I see now that you even use the Skybox Logo here. Great explanatory mod! But...does it come with some tuturial texts or something? That would really be of a lot of help I'd guess. I'm going to download the mod myself and check it out.

I just want the game to look like it did before, ie:
http://hdwallpappers.com/images/wallpapers/age-of-mythology-the-titans-gameplay-screenshot.jpg

It's way more subdued in color.
Sammy 8 May, 2014 @ 11:19pm
Hmmm, the mod if definetely in mods\Ensemble Terrain\ and I have it enabled, it's just the game still looks like it's using the new overly bright/saturated textures
morness  [author] 8 May, 2014 @ 9:18pm
Steam doesn't download mods, the game does when you fire them up. If you can see them in the Mod Manager list, you have it already. In Myth workshop items update automatically whenever you start the game (even new versions of it). To be absolutely sure you can look at your local files and make sure you have mods\Ensemble Terrain\
Sammy 8 May, 2014 @ 9:14pm
It doesn't seem to be working, I've subscribed to this mod and enabled the mod in the main game but it hasn't downloaded in Steam or anything.
reganmusic 8 May, 2014 @ 9:01pm
Oh, awesome! found it and it works fine. thanks!
morness  [author] 8 May, 2014 @ 8:51pm
once you subscribe to mods (or start making mods), then they'll show up in the game where you can enable or disable them. The mod manager is accessible from the main menu. The little square button with the Steam icon on it.
reganmusic 8 May, 2014 @ 6:12pm
Hm, do i find the modmanager in steam or in the game?
morness  [author] 8 May, 2014 @ 5:52pm
We updated the game a few hours ago where the mod manager was enabled by default for everyone. Maybe try restarting Steam if you haven't -- that triggers an update. If the mod manage is accessible you should be able to see the mods and toggle their enabled state. Can you let me know how that goes?
reganmusic 8 May, 2014 @ 5:21pm
Nothing is working, im unsubscribed and tried completely removing the game but it gives me old UI and textures whenever i download the game :S
CorruptedHelix 8 May, 2014 @ 2:52pm
I subscribed but there are still new graphics, how do I actually turn the original graphics on after I subbed?
Anbun 8 May, 2014 @ 2:15pm
@blueberry It's already posible. In the in-game settings. Under shadows? Just click 'off' instead of 'lowest' or whatever. Done! Any other shadows must be a part of the unit/building it's self.
blueberry 8 May, 2014 @ 1:19pm
Do you think you could add a way of completely removing shadows?
Ozhara 8 May, 2014 @ 1:06pm
I was told by a friend all lagging was gone for him after disabling Vsync.
ComputerDude 8 May, 2014 @ 11:04am
I seriously need this, the game is lagging like a motherf***er right now with me! I didn't think the graphic settings would be set so high to a point that it would lag on my pretty old pc >:(
Venadictor 8 May, 2014 @ 10:29am
how do you apply the mod
Laptop 8 May, 2014 @ 10:25am
Some people will probably want the modded water removed, morness, yes.
nottud 8 May, 2014 @ 4:11am
Yes please.
morness  [author] 7 May, 2014 @ 7:11pm
Also, do you guys want me to remove the modded water? The water has been replaced but using the old textures doesn't look right. If I get rid of them, it'll be the original terrain with the new water.
morness  [author] 7 May, 2014 @ 7:10pm
I fixed a bug with unsubscribing. You can try it with the latest build (in the beta branch called modmanagerbeta). If it's still there after firing up the game, delete it from the mods\ folder and reload assets it should be good to go in the future.
StatTrak™ Chloroform Rag 7 May, 2014 @ 4:41pm
@reganmusic Try unsubscribing and right clicking the game in your list. Select properties and verify your file integrity that should give you the old files back.
reganmusic 7 May, 2014 @ 4:26pm
how do i get the new textures back if I've already downloaded these old textures? :'(
reganmusic 7 May, 2014 @ 4:14pm
wait I just wanted to look at the files in my windows file browser, i didnt actually want to use the old textures or UI... how do I undo this damage?
nottud 6 May, 2014 @ 6:02pm
Works well the mod I had a go with it and it replicates the original terrains perfectly. :) The only criticism I can give is that the water doesn't quite look quite the same/as good.

Would be nice to have a version which allows you to change the terrain but keep water to the new version.

que es esto?
morness  [author] 4 May, 2014 @ 1:45pm
@Fritz

The terrain system will not have any performance differences. All the terrain layers are blended together before being uploaded to the GPU whether you use the additional layers or not -- is still just one draw call in the end. Theoretically you could improve your loading time slightly without them, but it doubt it would be noticeable.
Amber Doe 4 May, 2014 @ 11:24am
Why don't we just buy the original, you say? 'cause ESO servers (which simply allowed multiplayer on the original AoM) are down for quite a long time, maybe? xD
And even if I won't download this mod, I can understand why some people just want to see all the old textures and stuff... Ah, nostalgia :')
nikodem 4 May, 2014 @ 9:16am
...
Wismo 4 May, 2014 @ 5:47am
Why Download a mod that makes the game look like the original, why doesn't you just buy the orginal? its like buying a whole new computer only to play browser games
Chalupa_Pants 3 May, 2014 @ 10:44pm
Good job Morness. :D
Giovanni Dotti 3 May, 2014 @ 8:19pm
How run it?
The Coal Man 3 May, 2014 @ 2:28pm
lol he says badest, very much work, and ^^, yet you guys notice he randomly added ignorant.
Veek! 3 May, 2014 @ 12:36pm
Again, very cool, if I'm ever feeling nostalgiac this is where i'll come back to, I really don't understand the other people here in the comments calling it... ignorant?
Unregistered User 3 May, 2014 @ 12:34pm
@morness

I assume it could also increase frames, yes?
morness  [author] 3 May, 2014 @ 12:29pm
While these mods offer a nostalgic experience, the primary reason for creating these mods is to provide a "learn by example" so modders can see how they are pieced together. AoM takes a very different approach to mods than Age of Empires did. AoM mods will never replace existing original files -- they will be loaded in lieu of. Hope it helps!
Unregistered User 3 May, 2014 @ 10:55am
@Argon

Um, it's for people who like the original look better. They didn't just PUT IN THE OLD TEXTURES, they added it as a MOD if people want it. PLUS if people have performance issues with the new version, they can just download the old textures. YOU'RE ignorant.
Bladex1200 3 May, 2014 @ 10:51am
You guys criticizing morness should be ashamed of yourselves. All these mods do is give the players the choice of using old or new textures and UI for the game. Choice is good. Some people want to play the game as it looked in 2003 but on Steam for mods and multiplayer. Why are you bashing those people?
read before get scamed 3 May, 2014 @ 7:11am
i don't like it
no no no
~StudioS~ 3 May, 2014 @ 6:51am
badest mod idea ive ever seen ^^ very much work to remake the game, and you just put in the old textures, so ignorant...
Watermalloc 3 May, 2014 @ 5:58am
They're for people who prefer the original look of the game.
ImperatorTiberius 3 May, 2014 @ 5:40am
I mean.... why?!? Please explain, why does the remake have to look like the old one? It will play like the old version, feel like the old version... just with updated graphics and here you are downgrading the graphics again?!? Why would I want this? Same goes for your other mod, why is it there? Just because you wanted to be the first who had released a mod, even though it's not really a mod?
Alex 3 May, 2014 @ 12:01am
good wonderful
The Real Mr.Blue 2 May, 2014 @ 8:43pm
cant wait for the game
El Chupacabra 2 May, 2014 @ 2:15pm
GREAT MOD 10/10! WOULD DOWNLOAD AGAIN.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar 2 May, 2014 @ 12:55pm
Thanks, now we just need a game to play it with.
