I had two legacy heroes that were soulmates and when I started a new campaign with both of them one got "**relationship_none" instead of a romance.
I'd just like to know if this is a limitation that can be removed, or if the game's got monogamy hardcoded? Because as a Polyamorous person with several characters who are as well, I'd like to be able to play my lovely battlecule.
Anyhow, I just played those events! I love your mod! It's fun, witty and vanilla Wildermith-ish. Events didn't feel forced and I am totally buying these romances! This mod definitely deserves more views. Thanks for creating it and sharing it with the world.
If it makes a difference, they were set as siblings at the start of the campaign, rather than being two characters who were born to the same hero-parents. I wonder if heroes created this way aren't properly receiving the familyWith| (sp?) aspect.
(If they are, it's possible that there's something wrong happening in the siblings relationship of this specific pair... Hmm...)
I think the peacetime-comic works because it's so poetic and mysterious. You don't get ANY information of how the PC meets the spirit and their conversations. So it can be short, without feeling too abrupt or destroying the suspension of disbelieve. I actually think your event would work really nice if you just copied the wording from the peacetime-event 1:1. It would also allow the more thick-witted of us to get the connection. ^^
But IF we get to experience them actual meeting, we need a bit more background.
And maybe it's a good idea, not to show the whole conversation of the PCs, but instead have the narration say something similar to: "After a short conversation, X and Y come to a decision" - so we can headcanon what they are talking about and why they want to end their rivalry.
All in all, I like your writing. And your mods adress exactly the kinds of events that I feel are missing in vanilla right now! I'll definitely use them in the next campains I play. Thanks for the good work!
One idea I came up with: Maybe the NPCs have heard legends about this spirit and his mysterious power, to give people the oportionity of a fresh start? (And they'll never really know if it's the spirits magic or them believing in it...). So they have a short conversation about it, giving the much needed background, some emotions and making the event-resolution less abrupt. Maybe that's not the most creative solution and you'll come up with something better - but the event does need a bit more grounding to really work.
I did try my best to keep the tone and comic style as close to the main game as possible, so these events should fit in pretty seamlessly! I'm pretty picky about my event mods too, so I wanted to make these ones blend in!
