The answer is literally on this first page of comments.
This mod lets you load ideo's for NPC factions.
The error I got on loading the ideology was:
"Could not do PostLoadInit on RimWorld.Precept_RoleMulti: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at RimWorld.Precept_RoleMulti.ExposeData () [0x0004b] in <f087ae8b1fa44ddb8f53c3de012702a9>:0 at Verse.PostLoadIniter.DoAllPostLoadInits () [0x00032] in <f087ae8b1fa44ddb8f53c3de012702a9>:0 "
And the one when trying to move to the next screen was:
"Error while generating pawn. Rethrowing. Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at RimWorld.Precept_RoleMulti.IsAssigned (Verse.Pawn p)"
As stated earlier, manually removing and re-adding the specialists seems to fix it, so it looks like something with them isn't quite working right.
Try manually removing and re-adding (full remove, not "regenerate") the specialists for each loaded ideology.
I was having an issue where I couldn't join an NPC ideology if it was loaded in, (the "Next" button simply did nothing whatsoever). It looks like loading an Ideo doesn't do something that manually altering does. I suspect your issue is similar, with the game constantly freaking out about whatever was missing.
@cubicPsycho
In the RimWorld save and config directory, there's a new folder named "Ideos" next to the "Saves", "Config", etc, folders. Just delete the unwanted Ideology files from the "Ideos" folder.
Here's the logs if you're curious. https://gist.github.com/7f800ffe5e394d81a46740080445691d
- Allowed saving all ideos and allowed saving ideos in-game.
People don't like reading descriptions, do they?
After the game started you can edit ideologies with dev mode, but you cannot save them anymore.
Also you cannot save any other Ideology but your own.
Exception in Verse.Window.InnerWindowOnGUI: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null
As well as Object reference not set to an instance of an object errors
Delete the .ideo files of any ideoligions you don't want.
the base game only lets you save/load ideologies for your own faction, while this mod lets you save/load NPC ideologies as well
mod is still necessary
