I really like this route, and I'm thinking of using it for an upcoming TS series I have planned, so I'll be sure to credit this route if I go forward with it! :D

I have an idea for a name of the route, The red valley railway/line named after the valley outside of westbourne with red rock

Thanks hamtgerry. It's always encouraging to hear positive feedback :)

Revised this route recent. Like the latest additions. The extended mainline makes for an enjoyable hour's drive (including station stops). Lots of new QDs, including freight. I've not yet explored everything, but am impressed.

Sometimes you need to wait a few minutes in the workshop menu screen for it to say "installing workshop items", then it should appear.

BTW, I just realize one of my earlier comments is incorrect. The one about flowing rocks/stones. I saw them. But, incorrectly located them as the first time the line joins the coast. Wrong. It's when the line joins the coast after those two big cuts.

I'm currently working on two branches westbound, one following the coast and another following a river. Both should be about 5-7 miles long with several stations and sidings. I need to add a turntable at Westbourne for better authenticity, having locos run in reverse back up the main line isn't too realistic. After those are released, I will extend the main line eastbound by a few miles. Should have the next stage complete in a few days.

@Millhiore F. Biscotti

Extra distant scenery might be added in the future, for now I was merely looking to get the close to line detail in and get the bulk of the route released in order to allow it to be backed up on the workshop.

I would like to add gradients, but that involves a lot of extra complexity, which given the route is fictional and I'm not using imported terrain, the result might not look as good as I would have to manually adjust terrain in fitting around the trackwork, and may not look as natural- but I might give it a try anyway. Adding gradients in the cuttings would be a lot easier to do, so that's a good idea, thanks.

@hamtgerry

Thanks for your feedback.

I will add additional scenery onto the hills closer to the track as I'm aware it looks too bare. The tricky part is adding grass onto sloped surfaces without parts of the asset floating above the ground, which would require rotating each asset manually to neatly sit flat onto the surface which is quite tedious to do.

I might also flatten out some of the sharper terrain features using the smooth terrain tool, hopefully without the terrain falling onto the track which would require it to be levelled out again (causing more sharp cuts in the terrain).

I'll take a look at those rocks near the coast again to see if there's any floating assets I've missed.

Good route! Strikes a balance between not being so long as to make free roams awkward, and not being as provincial as a route like Falmouth.

Regarding feedback: the grass and fields are well-done. Adding some trees and the occasional building on the distant hills would help make them look less like 'the background hills' and more like a natural extension of the terrain. Some hill sections could also do with a little more smoothing as they're still a bit conical.

Speaking of hills, will the line always remain completely level throughout? I appreciate that it's a lot of work to effectively re-lay entire sections of the route for changes in height, so I only suggest some subtle undulation, like slight (1:>300) rises centred on the cuttings.

Lastly, the end of the track is visible through the tunnel west of Hayling. Could be improved by having the line curve out of the sight before ending, but perhaps you have plans to extend it anyway.

Finished my first drive along the route: Hayling Bay to Westbourne-on-Sea. Am rather impressed. Quite nice scenery overall. Since you ask for feedback, I'll mention a few areas where scenery might be improved. Twice, tracks run through cuts, with high embankments both sides. Both can use more scenery along hillsides down to ground level. Not the cuts, but the hills). They seem too bare, imo. Cut 1, exposed grey rock textures aren't the best quality. Not sure what can be done, without increasing route dependencies. Cut 2, with expose red-brown rock-face textures, looks much better, except where those textures look stretched and thus blurry. Again, I've no idea if this can be remedied. Just pointing it out. Oh yeah, when the line hits the coast, I noticed floating grey stones on the seaside embankment. I think they are all near the beginning of that stretch of track, but might have missed some later on. But again, this is all nitpicking. I quite enjoyed my drive along the line.
