Dark Braziers [Depricated]

@Sacheverell
It's not ideal, but one workaround for now may be to use the Electric Braziers (Light & Dark via toggle) mod as there is a dark light version and they both satisfy throne room requirements.
Sacheverell 11 Oct, 2021 @ 9:47pm
Vanilla darklight braziers still don't count for Royalty throne room requirements. Honestly amazed it's been this way for so long now.
Noodle 25 Aug, 2021 @ 6:27pm
Vanilla Darklight Braziers do not satisfy Royalty DLC throne room requirements. Any chance you could make a mod to fix that please? until they eventually fix it themselves.
Fathom 25 Aug, 2021 @ 7:24am
Thanks for getting it to us early,Teok :)
Teok  [author] 25 Aug, 2021 @ 2:46am
This mod is now depricated as it is in vanilla :)
Teok  [author] 16 Aug, 2021 @ 9:24pm
Thanks Ululu for letting me know, I'm glad this is finally being added into the base game, so hopefully the people who are having trouble with the mod can play.
ululu 16 Aug, 2021 @ 5:16pm
Heads-up: This mod is becoming obsolete as of the Rimworld Unstable build 1.3.3093, as darklight braziers are being officially implemented into Ideology.
Sacheverell 16 Aug, 2021 @ 4:06pm
Can confirm they're not counting towards throneroom requirement, regardless of mod placement.
divineDerivative 16 Aug, 2021 @ 3:44pm
This still isn't working for me, the dark braziers don't count towards the throne room requirement. Moving it below Vanilla Expanded - Royalty Patches made it load without errors, but did not make it work correctly.
CrazyKuroSushi 14 Aug, 2021 @ 9:26pm
It was kind of weird to me that this wasn't something added into ideology thanks for putting it in.
FG_Remastered 9 Aug, 2021 @ 7:49am
All we need now are dark electric braziers.
Fathom 5 Aug, 2021 @ 8:16am
No worries Teok! This version has been working quite well!
Teok  [author] 4 Aug, 2021 @ 11:54pm
Have you tried unsubscribing from this mod and resubscribing, or checking if you have Vanilla Expanded Patches mod?
Draegon1993 4 Aug, 2021 @ 9:52pm
It did not help either, somehow
Draegon1993 4 Aug, 2021 @ 9:47pm
I tried putting it above all the other mods and it doesn't help, sadly, I'll try the bottom of my list now
Draegon1993 4 Aug, 2021 @ 9:27pm
I'll try that, thanks!
Teok  [author] 4 Aug, 2021 @ 9:17pm
Experiment by putting this at the top of your mod list order, underneath Core, royalty and ideology, and also putting it at the bottom of your mod list order and seeing if those cause any errors or fix any problems you have. On top of that, look for mods that have the word Patch in it, like Vanilla expanded patches and check to see if they change anything about braziers. I know for a fact that Vanilla Expanded Patches changes the braziers code in a slightly different way to mine and it causes problems, but placing it underneath that "should" work
Draegon1993 4 Aug, 2021 @ 9:35am
How would I find out about compatibility isssues? Nothing seems to be causing issues otherwise
Teok  [author] 3 Aug, 2021 @ 10:25pm
Fathom that's a good idea, it might require me to make a new type of brazier for it that has a fungus texture instead of a wood texture though, so it might take a bit of time
Teok  [author] 3 Aug, 2021 @ 10:17pm
It's possible you have an older version of this mod or you have a mod that conflicts with this one, I just tried it on a fresh save and it works for me
Draegon1993 3 Aug, 2021 @ 9:31pm
I hate to be a bother, but these don't seem to work as requirements for a throne room, unfortunately.
Fathom 2 Aug, 2021 @ 8:19am
I appreciate your work! Would it be possible to have this work with the Nutrifungus as fuel source? Similar to the new fungal dark torches?
Teok  [author] 29 Jul, 2021 @ 4:23am
Thanks Fruch, I'll look into it and see if anything can be done
Fruchtgummi 29 Jul, 2021 @ 3:23am
This mod seems to not go along very well with VE - Royalty Patches as the latter gives a red error on startup. Putting Braziers after Royalty Patches fixes this.
Teok  [author] 28 Jul, 2021 @ 6:16pm
As of yesterday, this mod is now fully functioning as far as I know. Thanks for your patience in this, but it was hard to figure out an actual solution to the problem which is why it took so long.
Stranger 26 Jul, 2021 @ 12:05am
Unfortunately these aren't counting towards room requirements, I have 4 Dark Braziers in my throne room but to do the Baron bestowing ceremony it says I have 0/2
Makeithappen 25 Jul, 2021 @ 5:57pm
I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Undun. Servant of Morgoth. The dark fire will avail us. Release the Balrog!
darktoes 24 Jul, 2021 @ 5:05pm
There's a weird level of abstraction in Rimworld, given that nails and glue are apparently conjured out of thin air, and power cables can be made from only a hunk of steel. There's a very solid argument to be made that the dark torches are just wood soaked in a chemical to burn blue, while the electric ones could be UV or some such.

If someone wanted to make a realism mod, adding mineable copper and/or a special plant that can be grown to produce dark flames would be more sensible. I'd think some sort of copper-infused fungus? There are also a handful of wood types irl that can produce a slightly colored flame, but it's a subtle effect.
[RTB] Sarianos 24 Jul, 2021 @ 8:17am
Was mostly just an idle musing that came from testing mods and re-reading all the descriptions for 1.3 I was mainly just considering knocking together a recipe and patch to fuel dark lights with probably a treated wood using the copper from the extended materials mod.

Gotta say it's pretty sweet to see a more scientific exchange in the steam comments, sweet mod, neat mod author, go figure.
Teok  [author] 24 Jul, 2021 @ 7:38am
While blue and white flames are purer and tend to be hotter, the same can also be said for certain chemical fires which tend to be weaker. I actually have a fire starter solution at home which creates a blue flame which is extremely weak in terms of heat. It can be extremely hard to distinguish a chemical color of fire from the color that radiates off it based on it's heat. Since we know from experience in real life that even the hottest natural bush fires on earth never turn blue, we must then come to the conclusion that it's simply a chemical reaction.
[RTB] Sarianos 24 Jul, 2021 @ 7:24am
Bit of an irony note on the heat value, scientifically speaking any material burning with a blue or clear flame emitting little light is generally a result of a more pure burn and a significantly higher burn temperature unless you happen to be burning Cu₂O type copper oxide.
2toothy 24 Jul, 2021 @ 7:16am
Thanks Teok, appreciate the quick response regardless :)
Teok  [author] 24 Jul, 2021 @ 7:09am
Sorry to all who've found out the hard way that the mod isn't working as planned. The braziers are in the game, however they aren't counted towards the current total for braziers in a throneroom as 2toothy has pointed out. I believe that fixing this will require C# code, which is doable, but will take some time. Thanks for your patience
Flesh Forge 24 Jul, 2021 @ 6:37am
was just wondering why this wasn't already in
Teok  [author] 24 Jul, 2021 @ 6:24am
hey 2toothy I'll try to fix that
darktoes 24 Jul, 2021 @ 5:49am
There aren't electric braziers in vanilla, it's a mod, but it would be really cool if you had electric dark ones.
2toothy 24 Jul, 2021 @ 4:53am
love the idea for this mod, tho for some reason these arent registering as braziers, my noble still has an undignified throneroom debuff with 0/2 braziers :(
Teok  [author] 24 Jul, 2021 @ 3:39am
there are electric variants in vanilla?
//SlipperyPete:. 23 Jul, 2021 @ 10:13pm
@darktoes, There's a 1.3 version of electric braziers out now, but I haven't tested yet to see if it includes a darklight version.
darktoes 23 Jul, 2021 @ 9:28pm
Any chance of an electric variant for wood-defunct biomes?
Teok  [author] 23 Jul, 2021 @ 8:40pm
no problemo
TerrorScream 23 Jul, 2021 @ 8:39pm
ah fantastic, my darklight worshiping nobel no longer has to suffer! thanks!
