That seems to be an issue with tModLoader itself i believe. I'll contact the person who made the PR

The name colours of some items have been changed when using this mod. Though this only seems to affect items of rarity 11 (Purple), which tend to turn black, white or grey.

Pretty sure he means that it's for WHEN 1.4 comes out not that it is. It even says 'Built for 1.4 Alpha version of tModLoader'.
