went through my mods and found out that damocles slab was the ultimate culprit . thanks for the help!

@rakithk if you have mods that edit the items.xml folder (such as mods that rename items by directly changing their internal names instead of using LUA code to change the pickup description), they break newly added/reworked items when the game updates, even if the mod doesn't apply to those items at all

this mod doesn't alter items.xml, so i don't believe it'd break anything? (i could always be wrong, but it works on my end without any alterations to the mod itself)

perhaps check other items like breath of life and athame to see if they're broken as well, and go through your mods to see what ones might be causing the issue (a lot of common modding tutorials involve editing items.xml, so there's a bunch of mods like that that break upon updating)

@Mechanomical removing the My Shadow resprite should be fine because the anm2 file only applies to the Shade familiar; though, I suggest going into main.lua and removing the lines referring to "LITTLE ONE" (specifically line 5, line 31 and line 34) so it also removes the custom pickup text

lemme know how it goes if you do decide to alter the files that way

I was gonna remove the My Shadow resprite in the files but I notice that this has an animation file, is removing the file gonna cause any problems?

@Gifting People Deus Ex that's a really good idea, but i'm not terribly confident i'd be able to do it justice because my animating skills aren't that great (and i feel that SOMETHING is better as a simple follower, like it is in the source material, but that's just me)

Any way you could maybe try making a Something mod for Dark Esau? Would seem to fit perfectly.

@Splashy there's actually a few omori characters in this workshop if you go search for em, i would've used them for the showcase images but i'm a bit shy in reaching out

his tainted form could even be sunny

or even something style enemies/bosses

i know im just spewing ideas but god it even fits with the isaac theme

i know this is just a resprite but now i need an omori character that starts with mom's knife or damocles AND starts with shade

just pushed another update that should drastically improve compatibility with other mods (by removing the need for an items.xml edit)

update has been pushed, adds custom EID descriptions for both items (i'm not exactly sure if it still breaks EID for y'all, but if it i suggest checking other mods as well) and a little special sfx

So this mod breaks external item descriptions for me. Makes it just not show up :(

UPDATE: got it working, the update i had originally pushed failed to be actually implemented, so i had to reupload the changes
the mod's safe to reenable now

@Forte i know the issue, the workshop uploader somehow didn't push the updated items.xml file (the file that causes these crashes) to the new version, so later today i'm gonna try to remedy that

Have been having issues since the newest patch where the game crashes with this mod in the Knife Piece 2 room in Mines II. Not sure why this mod would affect that but it's only crashing when this mod is enabled (and when it's the only mod enabled).

just updated for the tainted patch, i'd like to know if anyone stumbles upon any problems with it if that's okay
