@CommissarCerberus This does not work for any modded ship, it modifies the vanilla ships. If you're playing with Frackin Universe, the other mods I linked will help you. If you're playing without Frackin Universe, I tend to recommend another mod that popped up after I created this one - Crew Capacity Configurator. I can't confirm whether it works with the mods you're playing with, but I haven't heard about any trouble with it.

I don't think this works for the Galaxy in Conflict races? I was able to hire a few past the 2 person limit per level though.

Some slowdown at high crew count was always the case even when I first made this, though I usually only noticed it around 60+ crew. I think it may depend on your machine, and how much you have on screen at once.
Deus_Ex_Mewkina 27. okt. 2024 kl. 7:12
For the information "it's still working" but became pretty slow when you began to have more than 20 crew member.
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 26. okt. 2024 kl. 17:58
@Deus_Ex_Mewkina I would assume so? I haven't played Starbound in quite some time. Unless there was an update, I expect everything is still working.
Deus_Ex_Mewkina 23. okt. 2024 kl. 14:23
still working?

Throw it out the window!

@Coolfrog Only the vanilla ships are affected by my mod here. If you mean BYOS through Frackin Universe, the two Frackin Crew Size mods linked in the description will help you. If you don't mean with Frackin Universe, try searching Crew Capacity Configurator - though that mod isn't mine so I don't know if it works with BYOS.
✧ Hazel ✧ 30. juli 2023 kl. 20:21
Would that work with BYOS?
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 19. juli 2022 kl. 15:16
If you're using a modded race, then yes, that would have been why this didn't work - this mod only affects the vanilla ships. I'm glad crew capacity configurator solved your problem!
yowai inudesu。 19. juli 2022 kl. 3:09
yes i'm using Neki race, maybe that's the reason? anyway thanks for the suggestion, capacity configurator is truly a bless
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 18. juli 2022 kl. 18:10
@take on Nam C0w Strange, that should have worked. Just to be sure, you're using a vanilla ship/race, right?
Assuming you are, I can't see why deleting the ship and booting the game wouldn't have fixed your problem.
In any case, another mod that might help is Crew Capacity Configurator.
yowai inudesu。 18. juli 2022 kl. 3:11
i reached max ship upgrade with crew size overcapped mod and it didnt work, the game doesnt let me recruit more, i uninstalled it and installed this mod, backup player file, delete the ship file and then boot the game, it still doesn't work, can anyone please tell me the way to fix it, i want to see my ship crowded
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 5. juni 2022 kl. 18:00
That... might work, actually. In singleplayer, the mod only does anything the exact moment you upgrade the ship. So long as multiplayer doesn't change anything when it loads the ship - which I'd doubt but can't guarantee - I believe that plan should work. You may want to test with a character using admin commands first, if that's possible for you. If you go through with it, let me know! I'd be interested to hear the results.
Pichi2214 5. juni 2022 kl. 3:57
oh thank you for the fast reply!

Main thing i am wondering is since the crew size stays after uninstalling the mod if that would cause issues even if I don't have the mod installed anymore (with regards to multiplayer). Cause my current plan would be to play in multiplayer until i unlock the upgrade to 12 crew members, then go to single player with the installed mod and upgrade it there to be safe and uninstall it before rejoining the server.
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 4. juni 2022 kl. 18:40
@Pichi2214 It's been a long time since I've done anything with multiplayer in this game, but from what I remember it's generally not good to have people with different mods. At the very least, I think the person running the server needs to have the mod, beyond that I'm not sure.

Assuming no issues are caused by your multiplayer situation, you can install this mod any time before you upgrade your ship. Having the upgrade unlocked or not shouldn't matter. The changes from this mod take effect when you upgrade the ship, so as long as you aren't already on the tier with 12 crew, you're not too late.
Pichi2214 4. juni 2022 kl. 8:57
Hi!! I am not entirely sure how mods like this Work so i have two questions before I install just to make sure i get it right

if I am on the tier with 10 crew members should I install the mod before I unlock the ability to upgrade or can i have the upgrade already unlocked for it to work? I don't want to accidentally upgrade too far and have to go through the whole deleting certain files thing

also I am playing on a multiplayer server, is this mod compatible with that even though the rest plays vanilla?
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 5. maj 2022 kl. 13:14
@Cronos9919 no problem! And like I said, if that mod doesn't work just let me know and I can put together a mod that makes the tier nine ships have 99 crew.
Cronos9919 4. maj 2022 kl. 21:57
Oh ok, yeah I read that last night and I guess I misinterpreted with my half asleep self, thank you.
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 4. maj 2022 kl. 21:00
@Cronos9919 If nothing else, I could almost certainly create a separate addon that updates the levels from Tier Nine Ships. But like I mentioned on the question before yours, there's actually a mod called Crew Capacity Configurator that I *think* lets you increase the crew size of existing ships.
If I'm wrong about that, or if that mod doesn't work on the tiers from Tier Nine Ships, feel free to tell me and I'll put together that Tier 9 mod. Otherwise, I think you'd be better off just using that one.
Cronos9919 4. maj 2022 kl. 20:15
Having the same problem as others here, with the ship already being max tier. There is a mod out there(Tier Nine Ships) that increases the tiers of the vanilla ships by 2 additional tiers(which comes with more rooms for your stuff.) Would it be possible to make this mod work with that one by giving the addition crew members on higher tier ships from that or other mods?
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 3. maj 2022 kl. 17:42
@Davoker no problem! If you want a mod that lets you edit crew size on existing ships, check out "Crew Capacity Configurator".
It's a mod that came out after I made this one. I've never tried it, but if it works as advertised on its page then frankly it's a better mod than this.
Davoker 3. maj 2022 kl. 17:07
@SerpentsBlight Ok I get it, I thought it could still work with the updated ship, the idea was "something as easy as changing a number, no hassle, it might even work" hahaha but no xD

Ok friend, thanks hehe
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 3. maj 2022 kl. 16:57
@Davoker - You could patch only the T8 structure files if you wanted to only have increased crew on the final tier of your ship, yes. In fact, this mod does patch that file in exactly that way - it just also patches all the previous tiers the same way too.

Even if you did that, it would still only take effect when you upgrade the ship, so a ship that is already at the last tier when you do that wouldn't have increased crew.

The reason I don't believe an alternate version of this mod is necessary is that nothing is forcing you to recruit crew. If you want your ship to have a "max" of 4 crew members, stop recruiting once you have 4 crew. If you want that "max" to instead be 24 or 32 or anything, stop recruiting once you have the amount you want.
Davoker 3. maj 2022 kl. 15:36
I clarify a little more, I mean that you cannot have more crew members than each ship upgrade allows until you have the last upgrade, the one with 12 crew members, that would be when it would allow you to have more than 12, but not before.

For example, the Novakid ship (to put any ship), edit the file "novakidT8.structure" (this is the file of the last ship update) in this part:

"config" : {
"shipUpgrades" : {
"capabilities" : ["teleport", "planetTravel", "systemTravel"],
"crewSize" : 12

And changing the 12 to something else, 24, 32, whatever, would be done in a clear .patch file, to replace, wouldn't it be enough to simply increase the ship's crewmembers "just with the latest ship upgrade"?
Davoker 3. maj 2022 kl. 15:22
One doubt, the last upgrade of the ship that allows 12 crew members, can't you just change that number for another one? for example 50 or 99, whatever.

This would allow you to have more than 12 crew members "but only when you get the last upgrade of the ship" exclusively, isn't it possible to do so?
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 13. sep. 2021 kl. 16:23
@JustDuckie89 Sorry! That's just how vanilla works - you can only make changes to the ship when it's being upgraded. It would take a much more complex and invasive mod to change how the ship works, and quite frankly I don't know how you'd do it.

If you really want this to work, it's possible to delete your .shipworld file, which would let you upgrade your ship again. There are guides online if you want to do so. That deletes your ship, though, so if you do that make sure to move anything you want to keep onto a planet first. After that, you could upgrade your ship back to where it was before through admin commands.
EmminLK11 12. sep. 2021 kl. 14:03
I don't like that you can't use this mod if you already upgraded your ship :steamthumbsdown:

cant go wrong with an army of starchildren
SerpentsBlight  [ophavsmand] 6. aug. 2021 kl. 14:07
@eliseoshawking Almost certainly! This mod only changes the cap of the crew size and makes no changes to the crew members themselves. So as long as the mod adding the crew doesn't affect the crew size cap, I can't see anything conflicting.
eliseoshawking 6. aug. 2021 kl. 7:54
works with non vanila crewmates?
