The difference between the normal and the switch variant is that the switch type simulates a track without a bank.
Irl, on switches and diamond crossings there isnt any of that.

So if you apply the switch track to switches, you'll notice that you get a lower, way more realistic speed on that switch

So it's just a way to make the game more realistic :)
You can use the normal one for switches as well if you want

So what's the exact difference between Rheda 2000 and Rheda Switch? Its not obvious. Otherwise awesome.
