Just played Janequeo again. The bonus is working as you described and it's fun to try to maximize the bonuses, even though the ability generally feels pretty weak considering the amount of effort and luck it requires to get it to meaningfully trigger. That being said, I had not realized that the promotion ability works with apostles! I actually went for a religious victory this game, going for Reliquaries (which probably wasn't the best choice, but it felt fitting) and using Debater apostles to stack promotions. It was super fun!
Thanks for the mod man, all your mods are great. I'm just playing through all your leaders one after the other. I think Janequeo could use a bit of a buff, but fun to try an alternate Mapuche all the same.

@Teddyk Got it. Thank you for the explanation, this makes sense.

Defeated enemy unit has to require a specific technology/civic which Janequeo does not yet discovered (neither triggered a boost) for an Eureka/Inspiration to trigger.
Killing a Knight may boost Stirrups.

To learn a new promotion defeated unit has to know a promotion that is valid to obtain for killing unit (same promotion tree).

To obtain strategic resources defeated unit has to require one. Killing a knight will provide Iron.

As you can see killing waves of unexperienced warriors will provide nothing.

What do you mean by "if requirements are met" with regards to the non-relic rewards? The ability text makes it seem like there are no requirements -- "defeating an enemy unit may trigger" to my mind means "any unit kill = roll the dice on a reward". I was playing a game with Janequeo a while back and remember being frustrated killing loads of invading units and getting nothing, until finally I got a few horses, but by that point I'd pretty much been swarmed and destroyed so I abandoned the game. Maybe I'm misremembering though. I want to give her another shot, but I just figured I want to know exactly how the ability works.

Chance is 100% if requirements are met.
However if eureka/inspiration is triggered then promotion and resources are ignored.
If promotion is acquired then resource check is ignored.

Relics are separate bonus (also 100% to trigger if conditions met).

Barbarians should trigger the bonuses. However I vaguely remember that barbarians do not reliable trigger related (unit killed) event which means that chance is not 100%.

What is the percent chance of getting a reward from defeating a unit? And does it ever trigger against barbs?
