Still, I'd like to know if this also affects the mines / ashpit. These should probably also have an increased chance for minerals (because it makes sense), but it'd be neat to have an incentive to not take the alt path and just go to caves. Maybe you could get valuable runes and soulstones in caves and gold in the alt path?
That's beyond my modding knowledge unfortunately.
If you wanna adjust the percentage chances manually, you can do it pretty easily by changing the values on line 12 and 16 in the mod's main.lua file (game folder/mods/foolsgoldmines_2568315232/)

Yeah that is a fair point, it's up to personal preference really. I feel like ashpit especially is a lot tougher than most of caves II/depths I, and I personally almost never go there in a regular vanilla run.
I will note that it's a bit of a gamble, too - rooms only have a chance to have any gold at all, so you can get unlucky and not get much benefit from taking the harder path :)
