Broken while using t.keeper, I feel it would be more balanced if there was a chance for enemies appearing when breaking the gold mines.

Good idea but spawn rate is pretty insane to the point you can max out your coins in my experience.

I liked the mod idea when I saw it but I appreciate it even more now because it saved my t.Keeper run

I really like this idea because it encourages you to press on and not R if you get otherwise pretty mediocre items (Pickaxe, Boom, Leo, etc.) because just the utility of breaking rocks makes them much more useful if you can buy a few items later on thanks to them.

Still, I'd like to know if this also affects the mines / ashpit. These should probably also have an increased chance for minerals (because it makes sense), but it'd be neat to have an incentive to not take the alt path and just go to caves. Maybe you could get valuable runes and soulstones in caves and gold in the alt path?

That's beyond my modding knowledge unfortunately.
If you wanna adjust the percentage chances manually, you can do it pretty easily by changing the values on line 12 and 16 in the mod's main.lua file (game folder/mods/foolsgoldmines_2568315232/)

@DamageMaximo I think this is a perfectly reasonable addition. Downpour/Dross is worth going to on non-Corpse runs due to all the extra room drops and boss items that can potentially be obtained in the Mirror World, while Mausoleum/Gehenna lets you essentially skip Womb/Utero 1's annoying lack of special rooms. Mines is just kinda there, the only thing you can get there that you can't get elsewhere is Knife Piece 2, for the knife familiar - which is nice, but not generally worth the trouble on its own.

that's a great idea for a mod! another cool incentive would be including an extra item at the mother knife run maybe, but not sure which pool though.

Yeah that is a fair point, it's up to personal preference really. I feel like ashpit especially is a lot tougher than most of caves II/depths I, and I personally almost never go there in a regular vanilla run.
I will note that it's a bit of a gamble, too - rooms only have a chance to have any gold at all, so you can get unlucky and not get much benefit from taking the harder path :)

But wouldn't that make it so anyone who is decently good at the game only goes to the mines now? That makes the chapter 2 ignorable most of the time, the extra difficulty on the mines isn't enough to work as a pay-off

maybe you should add a rare room with the notch axe and/or remote detonator.
