Are the gateways still broken?

Follow up: The gateways are essentially broken. They are spawning new enemies every few seconds for what appears to be an unlimited number of times.

These are more of a danger to breaking your game than even the threat they pose to a colony.

The gateways are a bit much. A caravan triggered one of the waiting clusters right when I had a solar flare. In the short period during the solar flare, those gateways spawned an estimated 600 Vex units.

Cool idea, but unbalanced. Even my most heavily armored pawns with the tough perk can get one shot by torch hammers. :(

They need to leave more components behind , i dont mind them crushing my poor guys and being an immense challenge because hey, we aren't guardians and don't have space magic. threw them into a medieval world just for some hilarity and it went exactly as you'd think it would.

how many units are supposed to be produced by the "gate" on a mech cluster? Cause I just had a cluster awaken and it produced 34 mechs on a 80000 Wealth and 80 day colony. I had 4 colonists with not even flak yet

Apologies for the weird commonality, it was something that I found a little difficult to grasp, but I changed it so it should be more balanced now :)

Personally i would prefer if the commonality of them were reduced so the game picks more smaller units. Just had a raid of ONLY Hydras and Minotaurs. My own mechanoids were instantly obliterated and my few colonists couldnt even get through their shields. Severe skill issue at play here. Kinda sad because the Harpies and Hobgoblins werent that bad, dangerously strong weapons but they themselves were kinda glasscannons, to a point where i would have still considered them balanced.

This is a really nice mod, though I think when it gets to higher difficulties, the vex in large numbers are kinda ridiculous with the explosive shots. But my main issue is just all the vex bodies being destroyed in the process. Leaving barely anything to scavenge once the fight is done.

If its possible would you be able to make it so the bodies are immune to damage? I saw it done with stuff like the new biotech mech chips, making it so they cant be blown up or anything.

@gerewoatle as simple as adding more enemy type and making our own lore.
Rimworld is story generation game to be precise. not just siimple simulator. and we can make our own lore with thousand of mods. heck fighting destiny mob with bionic human partnered with legendary pokemon equiped with magic is what make rimworld fun LOL

Imagine being so vehemently butthurt because people think adding different mechanics and changing gameplay for more variety to a game with an open modding scene would be cool, couldn't be me. Lmao anyways cool mod, the texture work is supreme and I can't wait to see more of your work! Keep it up my friend!

@Shayle I get that, but it doesn't mean it's something that can actually fit the mechanics of the game without detrimentally altering the nature and feel of said favorite thing and making it little more than a reskin without any of the original thing's substance.

The question then becomes if you want to actually play Vex or just some otherwise human colonists who look like Vex but otherwise have nothing meaningfully Vex-like about them.

Either that or completely overhaul RimWorld into something entirely different, which, to be blunt, is something no one has the right to demand of a modder.

@Gerewoatle - Yes its a colony simulator, but some people who love certain games want to add their favorites to any other game... Kinda like how there are always SCP mods for every game....

I just have to ask what people who want these weird factions to be playable, like the Vex, think they're gonna actually do with them? RimWorld is a colony simulator. How on Earth would the Vex or many of these other non-playable races ever fit that without completely changing how the game works and plays?

Guys, being able to play the Vex is literally OP, they need no food, no energy to refill, can produce themselves super fast, etc.

Found a possible mistake: the Aeon Maul and Torch Hammer both have the <label> "line rifle" so that's their name in-game. I think you did a copy/paste when making their xml and forgot to change it.

Question, have you considered making races and more factions from Destiny like the Fallen / Eliksni or the Cabal? I think it could be pretty epic to reinact certain battles from Destiny in Rimworld like that with other mods that make colonists more like guardians.

so, for those of you that are going to ask if this is compatible with "what the hack" or will it be compatible in the future, there is a good reason as to why they aren't hackable. read the Destiny lore about the vex. they aren't exactly robots, instead they are being controlled by a microscopic organism known as radiolaria suspended in vex milk. so think of these as mech suits for the microscopic organisms. thats why they aren't hackable, you can't exactly hack something thats being controlled by someone.

So... the vex portals. I had a mechanoid cluster that spawned with 5 or 6, then woke up. The portals spawned hundreds of vex and I didn't notice the cause of the slowdown....

New update, reduced vex sound effects, apologies for the tinnitus, added a new custom resource dismantled from slain vex called "Vex Alloy", this is so far used to create the first vex armour. Enjoy~

Firstly I really like the work put into these and in game they function fine. But that is where it ends for me. I only see them spawn in with mech clusters. Which does make the cluster even more challenging though feels like they have no reason to be there. Then there is their sounds, they are incredibly loud and it killed my experience with them. Could the sounds be reduced or a volume slider added for them?

oh, well i hope you manage to do the D1 ones someday, maybe if you get the Hezen models you could just recolor them to match the other programmings (red, silver and gold-ish), but for now it already looks awesome, keep up the good work!

To be honest the D1 models and programming variations would be my go-to if all the models were ripped, I slightly prefer them to the D2 vex models. As for Precursors and Descendants, they might be something to add in the future, along with Sol Divisive.

Wyverns are an interesting idea, but the next vex units planned are harpies and the dreaded gorgons ;)
