There is a bug, a dupe exploit for MP where if you auto loot a container within another container, the item only disappear from the client view in that said container but on the server side, the item continue to exist. The duped item will appear and stay in the client bag. I think the mod is missing `transmitCompleteItemToServer` for syncing.

I want to drop every item from every corpse in range to the ground, can i do that with this mod, tried, but i dont know how to setup config to do what i want

it only took me 2hours of try and error trying to get it work in my world... that was a painfull time with the easiest fix...

Okay, so it actually does this with everything dropped via vehicle salvage - Wires were just the only thing I had configured to autoloot. (Bless the ability to add/remove things from the Autoloot list via context menu.)

What I did find was that this is only a problem with boxes on the ground. If I pick them up manually with autoloot off and then put them into a container or vehicle; it'll pull them out of those just fine.

I'll keep poking around the files in the other mod; but there are a looooot of files.

Sidenote: It also does this with Electric Wires dropped from salvaging a vehicle. Actually, that gives me something to check...

@Tchernobill Checking that in-game was kind of inconclusive; but if I knew what to look for in the scripts/lua, I could probably find out! I did make my original post pretty late and worded some things badly, though - and I did do some more testing this morning.

So, basically: I have one (or more) lootboxes on the ground; if I walk over them with autoloot on, it'll display the icon and show them in my inventory - though the ground boxes remain on the ground. As soon as I walk off of the ground boxes - or try to move the inventory versions into another bag - the copies in my inventory disappear. The debug log shows lots of spam of:

[AutoDrop] AutoLoot_DisplayOnRender itemToRender Base.AccessoriesBoxZ.
[AutoDrop] AutoLootIcon:render drawTextureScaled 620 308.11 40 40 0.63 1 1 1.

@Selly I guess this means the mod creating the loot boxes optimize the creation process by re-using the same box instance id. this (if correct) induces you should never have 2 instances of boxes at the same time.
You can invalidate that theory by removing the box from autoloot list and doing the pick-up manually. if then you can get 2 boxes at the same time in your inventory, that theory is incorrect.

There's a weirdly specific interaction with the Escape from Kentucky mods that I've been wracking my brain over. Basically, those mods have 'loot boxes' that have a chance of spilling onto the ground whenever you kill a zombie.

When you walk over them, AutoLoot will put them in your inventory - but the boxes now exist both in your inventory and on the floor; and if you trigger another loot event on them, it'll remove the ones from your inventory.

Do you have any clues as to what might cause this kind of behavior? I want to try and patch it - but I'm finding any actual errors in the debug log; just lots of event spam whenever I try and loot them.

(You can just not put them in the AutoLoot list and pick them up manually, so it's not exactly mod-breaking - but it is a pain, and I'm not sure which end it's on.)

I use this all the time, til all of a sudden, it stopped. I went to the loot configuration and will choose the option for my autoloot (I have several for different runs), press apply, then apply to the options and save, return to the game, then nothing. It won't autoloot. Went back to the loot configuration and it didn't apply the saved option I chose.

I really like this mod let me save time tremendously, but sometimes this mod makes me charge into zombie horde. Seems this mod forces character's direction into the corpses, which located in middle of the horde, and manual input won't help. it FORCES direction. I tried running AWAY from horde, but my character ran TOWARD into horde. I turned this off, but it was too late that i found my character looted corpses while zombies biting myself.

This mod is a GAME-CHANGER. A must have. One problem I'm having is I have the option to not pickup rotten food but it's still picking it up. Also, any way to not pickup bloody clothing but allow clean clothing? Thank you for the great mod.

"Inhibit/Activate" toggle will not remember on vehicle in MP.
If I go far away and come back. "Inhibit/Activate toggle" reset to default.

But single player is work fine.

Sandbox option Loot Mode allows select one single mod for the whole server. so select autoloot instead of instant loot on MP.

Any way to make the mod store the invetory loot using a gamepad? Maybe Left+Right Triggers. Because i can't interact with the store button with my gamepad, also to turn on the autooloot i need to click on it, but since its only one time isn't a big deal.

@Eizen: annotated maps aren't called that by default I don't think. in the mod options I think they just show up as 'map' or something similar.

Great mod! I don't know if it would be possible to make the right click context menu work for multiple selection? E.g. if I pick up a bunch of cassettes, could I select them all and right click to remove them all from the auto loot system? It would also make it easier when I have a lot of auto looted items in my list which I have been removing one by one as they come in and some more items are looted, I then don't know which items in the list were added so I need to look through the whole list to find and remove what just came in. Thanks!

I've got the "Include rotten items" turned off but the mod is still picking up rotten food like eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc.

Anyone know of a workaround or fix for this bug that I'm encountering? If instant autoloot is enabled, items on the floor will be picked up by won't disappear both in the inventory UI and also the 3d model. Walking over the item again will allow us to loot a "ghost" clone of the item but turning off autoloot will promptly remove them from the inventory. Trying to loot the item does nothing.
My first base is a clutter of a ton of items and there's tons of fake items everywhere. I can pick up all the real items there just fine but I'd like to not have these fake items there since they lag my game due to how many of them there are. Any ideas on how to remove the fake 3d items on the ground?

@Tchernobill I have a mod idea, that I got partially working using chatgpt (I'm being lazy), however the code is spitting out tons of errors, so maybe it's something you could put together quite quickly.

Basically I wanted to create AutoSpeed, which would detect if a zombie is nearby, similar to how sleeping in safety works. If a zombie is detected within a set distance (say 6 cells?), game speed is either reset to Normal or Unchangeable until at a "safe" distance again.

The purpose of this mod is to safely use the auto corpse mover mods without getting caught off guard, inventory moving/looting and tree chopping, which I tend to do at a higher speed.

I can send you the ChatGPT code over if that's in anyway useful.

@helioemery unfortunately it is not possible with my method in current version of the game.
Z Loot (except clothing) is generated when it comes within reach (1 tile).

@Tchernobill, First of all, great mod. Is there any way to make the mod loot farther? I have been battling huge hordes of 2000 to 3000 zeds and the killing field is usually 300 to 500 cells in length. It is very tedious to go down a 500 cells road or street going back and forth from left to right to pass over each zombie to loot. It would be awesome if there were an option allowing for a father reach, so I could just go down in the middle of the road and the mod would loot from all dead zombies in either side of the street. Thanks again for that great mod.

bjbrady88 For windows users, check %username%\Zomboid\Lua\AutoLoot_*.ini files you can exchange them manually. If you edit them, errors could have unexpected consequences.

Is there any sort of way to save, export and modify the auto loot list out of game? I know you can make a save of your preferences in game. Is it possible to Copy and paste that saved preference from one saved game to another?

I was able to disable automatic picking up of things from the roof rack and auto cart when the character comes close. It helps.

But I don’t see such an opportunity with ordinary boxes for storing things. Wooden boxes from which you can make a warehouse at the base.

What can I do to prevent the character from taking things from their boxes in my warehouse at home?

On the gamepad it is not convenient to turn off the mod using the button on the keyboard.

It turns out that it is possible to disable the auto-pickup of items from selected containers.
This helps me for playing on a gamepad.

Unable to remove items from glove box when entering car.
To get this you have to open the passenger door from the outside.
Is there a way to see the glove box when getting in from the driver's seat?

Firstly I just want to say that this is, literally, the best mod I’ve found this far. To me, this is just such a huge QoL game changer. I lolololove this game, but needing to sort through dozens of zombies after a massive killing? And/or forgetting which ones you have already checked.. was becoming the most frustrating part for me.

I just have a quick question! Is there a setting that allows you to “cap” the number you pickup? ie. If I want to cap my auto loot for beef jerky to 5 and then it turns off - and anytime it falls below this threshold, then auto loot will turn back on? Sincerest apologies if this is already a setting that I am missing!

probably a mod conflict on my end but i can't seem to auto loot or even manually loot placed items. i just noticed it with a place orange and pot of water or pasta i can't remember

@Tchernobill Hello, use the menu to choose the objects you wanted to collect since the ones that came due to defects were not needed and they piled up a lot. so I chose what I needed and the mod simply stopped working, it no longer picks up anything

AutoLoot find items in nested containers, but containers inside containes will not be item destinations as they have NO effective weight reduction in Vanilla.
Said otherwise: nested weight reduction is not handled by AutoLoot on purpose.
Anyone is free to play anyway they want.
But I wont spend hundreds of hours and risk new bugs for such thing.

so when setting auto loot for a garbage bag inside a backpack for example (this is a nested container, the NC mod is just a QOL for the containers), the autoloot doesn't work, i installed a duffel bag slot mod so it seems to only recognize container/bag slots instead of individual containers
