First, it serves the same purpose as a normal gasmask; filtering air. But it also has special features. The major one is that the mask analyzes the breath of the soldier, so it can detect viruses and other sicknesses. If the system finds one, it will send all of its data to the RnD's Disease Research Departament, which will immidiately start researching a cure. The plague doctor will then cure other soldiers if the cure is found. All masks of CR have this, which in term makes it extremely hard if not impossible to damage a larger part of the CR with biological warfare.
