I've actually thought about doing this, and I've got the author's permission to do so. Though I couldnt figure out the blender file well enough and I havent tinkered around with it since.

I know this may sound like a dumb idea, but could you use the assets for this map to recreate Chiron Station? Is a remake of the most infamous Halo CE map but this time for Halo 2 and using the entire Cairo Station theme and aesthetic. Is one of the oldest addons in the Halo Workshop as 343i added him alongside other popular modders to the secret Workshop beta in order to develop mods for Halo that they wanted to showcase during the Workshop announcement.

As far as I'm aware, no. It only requires Garry's Mod and the map itself. It is most likely a conflict with another addon or something on your end is broken if I had to guess.

Though i'm not going to completely deny that it could be the map itself, if anyone would like to test it on a clean install then go ahead, my cairostation files are way too whack to organize a fix atm lol

Does this require any games? For some reason when i load in all the glass /reflective textures are instead of glass like in the screenshots. non-transparent error textures. its not like the reflections its the texture itself.

I am still procrastinating, and now i have work, so it would probably take a very long time lol.

Though I did upload an unlisted incomplete version of it a while back, though i dont know how well it would work after so many years

The textures are ripped from Halo 2 and will be replaced with more resolution accurate textures when I eventually get to redoing this again. If you want to sure, just know that they belong to Microsoft

I have a version of the part 2 map that has been like 99 percent ready for like a year or two (or three) at this point. However my methods and standards have changed in the since and I may or may not recreate the map using said methods. Though I probably should just release a polished version of what i have lol..

As for the explosion things, i have no idea how to extract the sprites from Halo 2 effectively and make a source engine sprite out of them, so maybe maybe not

Outskirts is potentially on the agenda! I'd have to take a look at the maps geometry to make sure it's Source friendly but as I recall it didnt have too many complicated angles, so I think its totally doable!

Just not any time soon lol

I just wanted to ask if this map included AI nodes? I think this would be a fairly good map to do my NPC wars so I was just wondering. This looks like an amazing map.

Someone with a keen eye could probably do It much better than me by using even more thorough texture alignments. It's just a bit of a hassle. (A "remake" of ntx_cairostation is kindof on the table for me at the moment using the stuff I've learned in the past year of mapmaking and mostly that factor).

Your other issue with porting Halo 2 maps to Source is how complex the geometry is. Halo 2's got a lot more leeway because it has loading zones and it's bsp's are models rather than brushes. So do be wary of that

Re-create. As far as I know there is no way to covert Halo scenario_structure_bsp to source engine's .bsp or .vmf. The most accurate way to go about it would be to make a model (with no collision) and "overlay" brush work over it. However this has downsides. I mostly just eyed this map based off of texture scaling and manually re-created it though.

that makes sense i wish i could shrink the flight path a bit better they would fly better almost like the mad car mod with like 2 other mods makes it to were u can set a path for ground tanks and transports the drop ships kinda work they drop off way more guys then they need to right now but im sure it will all work out also thank you for being so responsive

I dont think the entire area around the station would be suitable for map space, while there is much more empty space in zone2 it's still limited by visleaf compile times and my lack of willingness to work with the 3d skybox. As for "fleet battles", Source engine has some limits for that. The station *might* be able to fit in the world size horizontally, the station's verticality is well over 1.5 times the map height. However the 3d skybox is more or less fully useable, albeit at 1/4 size.

dude HELL YEA ID LOVE TO PLAY THAT for the starwars vs halo thing im working on i love ur map so much the way it is now expanded would make it to the point u can do an entire attack on the station ive got star fighters and cap ships for both sides but the map space for flying they hit the invisa wall and blow up would it be possible to expand the space part ig im not really sure what to call it lol but if not all good im exited to see whats next

malexhigh9 - The anniversary version would be rather difficult as thats much more geometry. I'm barely getting away with the amount of geometry I have as is.

Vortigaux - I'm still considering those. The command center would be easy if it werent for the fact that it's all in a 45 degree angle compared to the rest of the map which would make building with brushes rather difficult. The drydock might be too big, but I'm also considering it as it's the most probable area to do. As for the rest of the map, that will come in ntx_cairostation_zone2 which is mostly done, just needs to be polished off and finished. It includes the cargolift area, the exterior hinges, the bomb area, and the lower hangar.

This map is amazing. Even in its incomplete state, the attention to detail is commendable. I am curious though, you traverse just over a quarter of the station in Halo 2, and it looks like you've built a good portion of that already, excluding the drydock and big gun. How far do you intend to go with the playable space? I would love to see the command center from the cutscenes included if possible.

was able to ai node it and yea if they were smaller it would fit in the map works grate plays almost like halo they jump from 2ed floor and take cover and chases still love the map lots

While I could've just used the 3d model as the actual skybox, I couldnt get it scaled well enough to where it both didn't move enough and didn't interfere with the map itself, so I scrapped it in favor for a much simpler 2d skybox

Someone ported Halo 2's skybox over to a .mdl file for me and I put that in a blank map and took 6 screenshots and formed it into a skybox cube. It could admittedly be done much better but for now, it works.
