Well, then basically

1. you have to unpack the .bsa file from this mod, or just get the mod from the Nexus, which is unpacked. I would STRONGLY recommend the latter, if you don't already know what you're doing, since it will also keep Steam from overwriting your changes with my mod here.

2. look under Data/Textures for the texture files. The'll end in .dds which is the DirectX compressed texture format.

3. Make sure you have the Gimp .dds plugin. Just google it, if you don't know where to get it from.

4. Load the textures and start editing, just like any image file.

already confused. i have gimp
jagdtiger  [author] 11 Apr, 2017 @ 12:34am
Well, these are probably not the best to learn retexturing on, since my uv mapping (texture corrdinates) is... not made for humans. I would seriously suggest telling Blender to remap the coordinates first.

But otherwise, well, you just open the texture file in a graphics editor, and you paint. Both Photoshop and GIMP have .dds plugins, but you might need to download and install them first.

NifSkope can export a wireframe picture of where the polygon edges are, so you can set that to a layer and see what you're doing.

how do i retexture? can you teach me?
Frip 27 Sep, 2016 @ 5:09pm
good for those who kill with power
Tailin Sero 23 Jun, 2016 @ 7:09am
that's lame. oh, well... :steamsad:
jagdtiger  [author] 22 Jun, 2016 @ 6:16pm
I'd love to, but I don't think anyone figured out how to add weapon animations.
Tailin Sero 22 Jun, 2016 @ 4:42pm
can you add a flail?
Leontine 28 Jan, 2016 @ 7:43am
These weapons are pretty accurate as far as I can tell, I havent made any of the smaller ones yet though. The general designs were all very nice and historically accurate, nothing seemed too long or too small, however most morning stars used to be made with a steel neck not a wooden one since wood has tendancies to warp and then break during battle. Other than that I only had a pet peeve with the plastic looking texture on some weapons.
jagdtiger  [author] 2 Nov, 2015 @ 11:42pm
That's the knight templar armours, plus my own templar shields mod, since I like it more than the ones in the templar armours. But then I might be biased. Pretty sure the armours are on Steam too, but the shields are only on the Nexus.

yo uh, sorry for the non-related question, but that outfit on the character in the last screenshot-is that a vanilla armor set, or a mod? >> and if it's a mod, which one/s?
jagdtiger  [author] 22 Oct, 2015 @ 3:29pm
Aye, they just needed to "bite" into the armour to not slide off, not have several pounds of metal there slowing it down.
Xott 22 Oct, 2015 @ 11:24am
Thank you! Most people don't realise how small the flanges of real maces were. These were fast, elegant weapons. Well, at least as far as smashing weapons go.
jagdtiger  [author] 18 Aug, 2015 @ 5:35am
Well, as long as you enjoy smashing some forlorn's head in with them, that's what matters :p
Oz 18 Aug, 2015 @ 3:12am
Hm. Didn't know that. I'm not exactly up to scratch with maces. Swords are more my thing. Either way great mod :)
jagdtiger  [author] 17 Aug, 2015 @ 9:06am
Actually, a lot were smaller. Some had wider flanges, but then much thinner. There was a bit of variation, basically.

Well, if you want a more imposing mace, the flanged 2b is a bit bigger. Try it out. The spiked ball morning-star also has a pretty big (and hollow) head, if that helps.
Oz 17 Aug, 2015 @ 12:11am
I was just judging on the pictures, it looks really small, i think the heads were a bit bigger.
jagdtiger  [author] 15 Aug, 2015 @ 9:04am
Hmm? I think they're quite historically sized. But if you have some link to differently sized historical stuff, I might even do it.
Oz 15 Aug, 2015 @ 3:43am
Why the hell are they so small?
jagdtiger  [author] 5 Aug, 2015 @ 11:03pm
I don't think Beth has the animations for flails, and you can not create new weapon categories.
Kent Bandit [1026th SEAL] 5 Aug, 2015 @ 6:59pm
aw, pity, I searched flails and this is all I get. :(
aelfweard 19 Feb, 2015 @ 5:08am
Not Gabem/, silly me.
GAAAABEEEENNNN!!!!
aelfweard 19 Feb, 2015 @ 5:07am
Mmm. Someone who knows their weaponry.
Thank Gabem/
XtraSpicyChkn 25 Jan, 2015 @ 2:49pm
Yup.
jagdtiger  [author] 25 Jan, 2015 @ 1:15pm
Aye, I know what you mean. I think they ruine a jolly good war when they started bringing guns to a knife fight ;)
XtraSpicyChkn 25 Jan, 2015 @ 1:13pm
And I love medieval anything.
XtraSpicyChkn 25 Jan, 2015 @ 1:12pm
Yeah, but nobody i know gets it right...
jagdtiger  [author] 25 Jan, 2015 @ 11:59am
Well, to be fair, that's getting to be somewhat mainstream knowledge these days. In any case, nice to meet another fan of medieval impact weaponry.
XtraSpicyChkn 25 Jan, 2015 @ 8:46am
"That is the correct name, yes. Historically the morning star was a spiked mace, not a flail." THANK YOU.
jagdtiger  [author] 24 Dec, 2014 @ 11:43pm
Yeah, most vanilla weapons are silly huge.
PhiOpsAurelio 24 Dec, 2014 @ 6:22pm
Perfectly scaled, I think! They're not incredibly huge like the regular in-game maces.
yvan 10 Oct, 2014 @ 9:03am
excellent
jagdtiger  [author] 2 Sep, 2014 @ 11:57pm
I like using my own shield from here
http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9673/?
more than the one included with the armour, though.
Gregor Pheer 2 Sep, 2014 @ 4:30pm
Nevermind, ignore me. I found the armor set not two minutes later after a bit more searching. XD
Gregor Pheer 2 Sep, 2014 @ 4:27pm
I love the morning stars. Great job. :D Also, what is the armor set in the last picture called? I've been looking for something like that with no luck.
dataDyne ☂ 2 Jun, 2014 @ 3:42pm
Oooh i love maces, especially flanged like the Ebony one
jagdtiger  [author] 31 May, 2014 @ 11:00pm
thanks.
ying_ko13 31 May, 2014 @ 3:48pm
Having jolly good time with these, very realistic. Good mod.
jagdtiger  [author] 31 May, 2014 @ 3:00pm
Hmm... Well, there were thousands of smiths across hundreds of years, so I'm sure there are a lot out there that have other dimensions than mine. I'm always available for suggestions though (although I can't guarantee I'll actually have the time or inclination to actually model it), so if you can point me at some museum piece or reasonable reproduction, I might actually do it. Or not. As I was saying, I have ridiculously little time lately. But it could happen.
Squiggly-Squid 31 May, 2014 @ 2:40pm
i love this guy finally everything i search is swords and type in MACE and the reseach amazingly accurate i would love to talk to the make but was tad wrong such a mace was normaly big so it can pernatrate the armour but still thank you
Mazlak951 17 May, 2014 @ 5:47am
I love the detail of research put into this. Thank you sir for the time and effort you put in to designing this mod. I don't even play maces but im downloading this pack so I can try them out.
ying_ko13 14 May, 2014 @ 5:31pm
The historically correct weapons are much welcomed.
jagdtiger  [author] 14 May, 2014 @ 9:37am
Thanks. That was the intention, so it's good to know I'm not the only one who finds them historical enough.
linus-bock 14 May, 2014 @ 8:47am
Verry nice and realistic.
yvan 13 May, 2014 @ 9:43am
Très beau mod . merci les maces se faisais rares
ying_ko13 13 May, 2014 @ 9:34am
Been wanting weapons like these. Jolly good. Thank you.
Black Stabbath 13 May, 2014 @ 4:51am
