We'll have to agree to disagree then. You used exploits on both those videos and yet still call the first one legit. It's not legit if you use exploits (bhop). Impressive runs though. Nicely done!

I love the fact that exploits are allowed in both categories. (Makes no sense.) It seems that no one can beat my time doing it completely legit like I did. This has turned into a joke.

Anyone that can beat me playing legit like I did then they deserve it.

Let me clarify, "speed running" is known as anything goes. Doing a legit run requires no exploits which have been agreed on and spelled out.

I find it satisfying that nobody can beat me without using cheats/aka...exploits. This competition has shown me the true colors of people. Peace!

still people who can bhop have an unfair advantage, look at me i don't know how to bhop and it's impossible to learn in this short time span to get a better time. so because i can't bhop (and this is also can be because of my computer, or keyboard something i can't controll) they get an advantage and a time i possibly can't beat. because of an exploit

@Myr - A shorcut is simply an alternate way of doing things. (e.g. Flinging instead of using bounce gel, not using a lightbridge because of too many portalable surfaces, having extra cubes because the mapmaker didn't use a fizzler.) There are many ways to have a shortcut without ever using exploits.

I know you love abusing the engine and that's fine, but other people like to abuse the map due to the map-maker's errors... which are a great help to them to learn.

A shortcut only happens when the maker missed something... Like leaving the glass open in the first room so you could get a 0 time. I really don't think I need to explain further. You're not stupid and you know Portal very well as I do.

I try to break maps without exploits, but if it's a newer mapmaker then I might show them what's possible, but I won't use it to solve the map.

Mistakes with which we did not anticipate. Myr pointed them out, and I thank him for it, because of which I can learn. But I could not say that he did wrong. Because I recognized his mistakes and the original one race divided into two categories. I think the rules for both are now Ok. At least for now. You are currently second and you can be the first.

Your map, your rules. In my humble opinion, a standard run should not use any exploits, only skill. Speedrunning is well known as the "anything goes" category.

If you're going to allow certain exploits, but not others in a standard run, then it should be explicitly stated. (Only bunny hopping is allowed in the 'runner' category and no other exploits.)

My time took MANY runs to get and was based on using no exploits as well as Prototype's run. If I b-hopped just in the last area and avoided the funnel the one time it would knock about 14 seconds of my time.

If I made a speed run map the rules would be simple. Anyting goes in the speed runner category and no exploits are allowed in the standard run. Shortcuts? Yes, because that's the mapmaker's fault. As I said once before, having the timer start when entering the first area would solve quite a few problems. Also, having the clock go to 1/100 of a second.

Anyway, just some ideas for future possible maps. Thank you for all your effort in this and the generosity.

(P.S. I didn't do this to win a game (I already own all but one.), but just to push people to try harder.)

I agree with Deathwish when he refers to a bhop as an exploit. But that doesn't mean the 'runner catagory' can't use them.

You don't understand the definition of an exploit then. In this case it's more of a bug (as most are), but Valve never patched it like they did the re-portal exploit/bug.

So, you are saying that using the keyboard and mouse discount something from being an exploit or bug is completely ludicrous. Um, so you think portal bumping is not an exploit/ bug then either? That only uses the mouse.

Everything you do in the game uses the keyboard and mouse. It's about what the intended way of doing things is. No, you shouldn't be able to shoot portals through gaps in glass or trap a gel blob on a light bridge, among other things, but you can. It doesn't make it legit.

The "runner" playthroughs have certain people using the bunny hop exploit. That is not part of the game, as it is never taught in the SP or MP version.

Yes, bunny hopping is an exploit. That and other exploits are used in the "speed runner" category, but that's always allowed.

Position in the race does not specify which game you get. Only the first is given priority to choose from all games, then the second, etc ... ...
