Vanilla pale ones definitely have one of the least streamlined experiences in the game, IMO. I'm not fond of any class that's just "wait for resources to slowly pile up before you're allowed to do anything" and I end up just skipping a lot of turns waiting. Mid-tier units being completely RNG has not exactly been my favorite thing ever, considering how expensive the trash tier units are. I'll definitely be enabling the total overhaul mod once I get tired enough of the current status quo of the game.

Honestly the first time I played Cloud lords I actually tried to stay in the skies, but it turns out that just utterly screws you over. Everyone on the ground ended up 15x stronger then me, and I couldnt accsess some of my better units because of a lack of gems and iron.

Awesome. I love your mods so much. I swear I never play vanilla after having these great tweaks and changes. Thanks for the hard work!

Yes.

I assume this mod has been integrated into the total overhaul mod?

I suppose. That's not for now though, as I won't be revisiting content until I slap everything together into one mod.

Currently playing a Cloud Lord game and these sound like pretty cool ideas. As it is, there's really no reason to stay in the clouds and the Cloudfolk are pretty useless because they can't travel between cloud formations. The tweaking of units sound nice but I'd actually like to see more units overall. The roster is pretty limited and there's no real reason to get anything other then Dusk/Dawn (if you have the gems) Guards and Archers as is.

Updates break saves.

At times after loading save, Pale ones extra rituals disappear until a mastery is used on each earthmind/oracle.

Ayyy straight legend! these fellers needed tunneling.

Regarding the earth king, that miiiight be a side effect of the ritual requiring the king of earth to be dead, since there's no info on whether you can summon uniques that are bound to a plane if they are dead. Will look into that later.
BLloyd 3 Sep, 2021 @ 9:04am
Hi, currently the repair the court ritual only creates elementals and minor elementals rather than returning the King.
Also given the Pale Ones are as much aquatic as earthbound maybe a water plane equivalent could be put in? (Presumably with them going around with a jug to pour what's left of the Queens into)

Pale ones can already get into the void through the elemental planes. The void really doesnt fit with their theme anyways.

As for changing cave walls, I don't know what you are asking. If you want a way to change the cave wall sprite to a slope via terraforming, there isn't. The sprites are generated dynamically base on what's next to them.

Animated boulders, as per what the dwarfs have, are probably fine, but even more content for pale ones is not needed right now, so I will backlog it as a possibility.

The pale One need the possibility to carve a giant rock from a mountain to roll around Elysium stomping everything in it's path. It could be stupid or with intent.

A spell to transform walls to slops.

You could also permit them to go to the void for late game.

Great mod though.

Unless I never put out the update (which I believe I did), Pale Ones can summon Pedoseion (Okay, it's more like take several tubes of super glue and glue him back together) and can, with his help, recruit earth elementals, his children, and champions of mountains.
Urzamax 31 Aug, 2021 @ 11:32pm
Sure! Sorry for the mega-post, I just thought that you'd need more convincing. Also, I agree with the fellow who suggested giving Pale Ones the chance to summon one or more Earth Kings, particularly Barathus. In Dominions lore at least they have a very close connection to him, including a national Earth-Elemental summoning spell that's specifically flavored as a pact with him. I think they should also be able to call upon Rhuax, for much the same reasons as Barathus (in Dominions, Magma Children are functionally if not literally Rhuax's offspring, lent to the Agarthans in recognition of their ancient agreement). As I recall he's the king of Magma, and who's better suited to understand magma than the children of the deep earth?

Been meaning to get around to that. Thanks for reminding me.
Urzamax 31 Aug, 2021 @ 11:23pm
I think that the Pale One's exploration problems can be solved by simply giving Grub Lords a two-tile vision radius--you can flavor it as a sort of blindsight or tremorsense to explain how they can see through the tunnel walls, and it would ultimately make life way easier and less painful without having to constantly scry blank chunks of rock all the time in order to avoid breaking into a reservoir and killing your best diggers. I do think that flooding Ahartha is a viable strategy for the Pale Ones, it just should be something you choose to do rather than something you perform by mistake because you couldn't spare the gems or valuable mage turns to ogle what is, about 8 times out of ten, just a bunch of boring rock walls. Scrying is definitely a useful tool even at its current price, but it shouldn't be something your early game is dependent on.

Great mod for an alternative gameplay. Usually exploring and using other planes doesn't make sence, even for the 2 classes that spawn into it. I'm very happy to see some live into the ground and skys planes!
Primagen 30 Aug, 2021 @ 10:46pm
Maybe let the Pale ones summon Earth king. In game text says they worship him as a god. Also maybe give them the Ancient Olm from Dominions. Would stick with the theme and give them more punch.
Deja Vroom! 30 Aug, 2021 @ 3:32pm
This is a great mod for making the pale ones more flavorful and useful in the mid-game. Tunnelling always felt unrewarding and difficult to do in the early game.
Commisar Jon Fuklaw  [author] 30 Aug, 2021 @ 9:06am
I'll take it into account.
Spiritualcramps 30 Aug, 2021 @ 4:31am
Hey I have been a big fan of Agartha and played them a lot. The tunnelling grub lord is a great addition, I believe easier scrying is needed so you don't accidentally flood the main cavern and don't have to constantly go back and forth between overworld and underworld to check you aren't going into a sea tile. Also I would like to use granite units outside settlements maybe a second ritual to allow you to give one the ability to leave the cave for each cast of the ritual. I feel it would be best as a tier 3 maybe costing diamonds and iron?
Commisar Jon Fuklaw  [author] 29 Aug, 2021 @ 11:45pm
Well, like I said, this one is a little light on content. The only thing I in terms of military addons is a single ritual for summoning more shitty pale ones/dorfs/elementals.
ZoroTheBold 29 Aug, 2021 @ 9:31pm
Finally, someone gave Pale Ones tunelling! Can't wait to try this out. Great work!
