Not compatible with 1.5

I tried launching with just this mod and it fails to generate the map when you select your world tile and crashes the game.

I like this mod in theory, but unfortunately every morning when the sun first starts to rise, the brightness increases in discreet steps every second or so until it reaches vanilla brightness levels, and when the night is very dark, these steps are *extremely* obvious. A bit disappointing.

Is moonlight removed from Biomes Core?
it seems like there is no way to config the mod ingame anymore, and if you press mod settings it just opens Nocturnal Animals.

So, Realistic Darkness includes a 'dusk' effect. If the two mods aren't compatible, any chance you could add that feature to this one? Or is there a way to turn off the darkness effect and keep the dusk in RD?

I don't even think it's about nerdiness, at least for me. When someone pushes a mod update...I just want to know what changed, even if it's not a big deal. Random mystery updates are just...distressing.

Yeah, some modders have said they don't bother when "it's just technical changes" but I think they underestimate just how nerdy the rimworld community is, given the genre of the game, amirite? ;)

- First of my mods to implement an alternative way of cache updating with 1000x less overhead. Before, there was a patch attached to the end of the game's ticker which would regulate when to update the cache (daily). To reduce overhead, this patch has been moved an unrelated method that Rimworld consistently calls every 1000th tick.
- Code maintenance, updating code to my newer style.

During the full moon you'd see vanilla levels of brightness, but outside of that it's only darker. So darker only, basically.

Does this result in both darker and lighter nights? I like the idea but I’m not sure if I can realistically handle nights getting much darker, for the eye strain.

Yes it does. The mod works by darkening whatever the current sky brightness is, which is already regulated by the weather. So it stacks.

Yeah, back before I knew better I tried to give flames actual lighting like you might expect. But there's a reason they don't give off light in the game. The way rimworld handles lighting updates is arguably its weakest area. Extremely laggy.

You could try using my scattered flames mod though. It gives the illusion of light by making flames give off glowing particle fx

The description doesn't mention it, though does this also cover wildfires?
Realistic Darkness doesn't and the only reason I have yet to use this or the other is because the thought of putting out non-glowing fires is creepy...

Ahh that makes sense ty. I picked a vanilla biome and feel like I do not see Biomes!'s moonlight working (but I may have just been missing it). I am running both now, no crash and can see it on the vanilla biome colony now

Not really. I had originally planned on support, but when I started digging into it, it struck me as no casual effort to integrate the two. Sorry :( I don't really use that mod, if I did I'd probably be motivated to getting it working all prim n proper.

It won't conflict in an error-prone sort of way, it just won't align graphically.

This sounds absolutely fantastic! However I do have one question.

Would this be fully compatible with Rim of Madness - Werewolves! by Jecrell?

The reason I bring it up is because the mod itself introduces moons to the game and I don't know if this mod would conflict with said moons orbiting or not.
