This mod works great in tandem with the 'Predators Unleashed' mod.

I was trying to have my colonist tame a rat, but the moment my colonist approached the rat a kestrel suddenly swooped in and carried it off.

An update would be very nice. We need birds.
Noctus 18 Apr, 2024 @ 2:26pm
Does this still work fine with the new update? Or are there any plans for an update?
Aulwynd 2 Mar, 2024 @ 4:21pm

@hzwb348153 Thank you for your feedback! Consider using the discussion topic "upcoming feature suggestions" for this. Comments are easily buried here.

Thank you still for creating such a wonderful mod, wrote this second comment because the other comment is over the character limit :steamhappy:

1) Birds should have the ability to "disappear" into a tree, with maybe an icon on top of the tree indicating there is a bird in the tree, if people approach the tree they will run and fly to another tree... 2) When visible on the map, the bird should always be flying, their flying pattern should be either circular or making a number 8 while they are just cruising around, of course when hunting this flight pattern changes... 3) Only way to catch them is either using a dart gun, trapping them, catching them while their down or hatching an egg from their nest... 4) It should be imppossible for people to rush in to get close to a bird and try to catch them, they will just fly away, and minimum gun range should be a bolt action rifle to gun them down, any less and they just fly away (because of their very good eyesight)... 6) After successful hunt birds should fly to a nearby tree to feast, not enjoy their meal on the ground... This is some of my suggestion...

Owls! Owls are all I need in rimworld! Wonderful!

WalrusMan 18 Oct, 2022 @ 10:03am
Really hope you plan on updating these to 1.4, they really add a lot of life to the game and I'll miss them a lot while playing.

Can birds fly over walls?
IronSides 23 Jul, 2022 @ 9:23pm
The best part of the mod is when I discovered that the birds use drugs.

I had a wild crow who drank all the beer from dead raiders i left on the ground. He flew around for a bit vomiting all over the map.
Milki 7 May, 2022 @ 12:29pm
I LOVE the mod btw. Came back to play Rimworld just because of this mod <3 Really appreciate you putting flying animations. Wish you would add eagles in the future, and maybe rarer birds that are only seen in the snow.
Milki 7 May, 2022 @ 12:23pm
I feel like most raptors should be a lot stronger than a Goose or Turkey. Would be cool to have them be more useful in fights at least a little bit more than the aforementioned farm animals.

Do Traders sell barn owls?
Zeitloser  [author] 28 Apr, 2022 @ 12:57pm
@Abacaxique should be fixed.
Abacaxique 28 Apr, 2022 @ 10:26am
I just tamed a kestrel and it seems that it's considered as a pen animal. Is this intended? I feel like it should just be a regular animal. We can train it to attack and stuff, but it will never folow the master being a pen animal.

btw great mod, I love the new birds flying around and singing (:

@Karmapowered

Thank you very much for your kind words!

Well, it seems that I plan to release a Birds Beyond for every major biome and vultures are definitely on the list for the hotter biomes!
Karmapowered 15 Apr, 2022 @ 1:45pm
Hello,

I'm looking forward to using both your bird mods in my next RW run.

I can't wait to see what birds can add, and I expect to be pleasantly surprised since I'm more of a "survivalist" RW player, constantly exploring, trading for rarer resources, relearning long lost craftsmanships, fighting diseases, temperatures and lack of food or water, etc., rather than wasting my time sitting in killboxes.

This being said, I wonder if you could be convinced to add *vultures* to one of your next mods. I believe these majestic birds hold an essential role in any ecosystem. With the excess number of corpses in RW, I believe they would feel right at home. The only mod that did something similar was this one :

Thank you very much for your consideration, and your generosity in sharing your mods with us here.

Good to know! Thank you.
Zeitloser  [author] 15 Mar, 2022 @ 2:28pm
Erin already did her part on it. I am currently very busy with work related stuff and want to spend every minute I got to spare on a few games I never had the chance to finish. Maybe Easter?
Erin  [author] 15 Mar, 2022 @ 2:32am
@Lucly - Yes.
Lucky 14 Mar, 2022 @ 5:59pm
Will there be modules for more birds in other biomes in the future?
Sir Sp00ksalot 7 Mar, 2022 @ 1:04pm
Perhaps there is something with the combat mods people use which is altering the birds combat effectiveness. There is a pretty big difference between Yayo, CE, and Vanilla
Sir Sp00ksalot 7 Mar, 2022 @ 1:03pm
For things that pretain to animals I use Vanilla Animals Extended, Alpha Animals, and Animals Logic l. On the combat side I use Yayo' Combat.
Zeitloser  [author] 7 Mar, 2022 @ 12:29pm
@Sir Sp00ksalot

There is something wrong on your side then. Kestrel has designated maxpreysize (0.3) far below the 1.2 bodysize of a deer.
Zeitloser  [author] 7 Mar, 2022 @ 12:21pm
There is something really fishy going on. There is contrary feedback of the birds being too strong or too easy to kill by their prey. Do you guys have any other mod installed that may tinker with damage-values so the damage-multiplier against prey doesn't work?
Sir Sp00ksalot 6 Mar, 2022 @ 5:16pm
The birds from this mod get killed by literally anything they attack for food. Its embarrassing to see the kestrel beaten in combat by a rat or rabbit, but they also seem to greatly overestimate their own strength and attack larger animals like dear.
Слава в Україні 6 Mar, 2022 @ 4:56am
One crow knocked down my pawn. The best mod in the world.
Draconis🐊 4 Mar, 2022 @ 12:43am
The Animals Forage mod would be a good one to have cross compatible as it would solve a few of the issues with hunting birds as some could be set to forage and would thus flush out tiny animals like ducks and such do, producing tiny amounts of lizard or rodent meat.
