I would like to expand the original Woodhead Line.
Do you mind if I merge your track with it.
sispys 2 May, 2021 @ 3:30am
Yes please continue with it Armorin as I think what you have achieved so far is excellent
Ayman494 1 May, 2021 @ 3:02am
You might as well continue this project, scenerising the track that you already have, as TSW Route Editor has been shelved due to licensing and other issues (you wasted so much time waiting for something that ultimately ended up being scrapped) so RW (TS2021) will remain the go-to sim for route development for the foreseeable future; the route development scene here is still very much alive, so it would make sense to complete this network given it covers many lines not yet seen in any Train Simulator AFAIK. If you would like extra help adding scenery to this route, please let me know, as adding scenery is the fun part of routebuilding for me when track infrastructure is already in place.

(I think it was DPSimulation, might have been someone else.)
Cyclone 19 Apr, 2020 @ 10:33am
I have seen DPSimulation do just that, having it on the workshop but then putting a version on the Web site that has other improvements from Armstrong and his own skins, sometimes others. You could always send a final version here (so people can make secnarios), then add a "patch" that can be hosted elsewhere and provide a link to that from this page. I've seen exactly that before to fix a bug.
Armorin  [author] 19 Apr, 2020 @ 5:43am
@Cyclone, the majority of work just isn't portable between the two simulators. That said, I've given up on waiting for DTG to release a public editor for TSW. If I was to restart this, it would be set back in the 80's before too much track was pulled up. I'd also want more freedom outside route constraints of the workshop to do it justice.
Cyclone 9 Mar, 2020 @ 11:01pm
@Armrail I would say just go ahead and finish here. When an editor comes for the newer game, you can then go ahead and use the existing completed version to port into the newer game. That said, we may never see that new editor; perhaps DTG decided they don't want custom routes, so thus decided not to release an editor. Who knows? I know I'm not in a hurry to buy Train Sim World as there is a lot more I can do in Train Simulator (which I got on Humble and can now outfit with DLC to best find Workshop content to play).
Armorin  [author] 28 Jan, 2020 @ 11:14am
I've stopped working on it. DTG released the 'next generation' train sim called TSW. Several years on they have not released an editor for it........

hello
dontram 9 Jan, 2018 @ 3:29pm
When are we going to see this route finished. As stated by gary-jones, 7 Sep 2017, I also would be interested in extending the route to Doncaster , adding the SYJR to Worksop.
gary.jones 7 Sep, 2017 @ 10:17am
Armrail... can you contact me please because I would like to talk to you about completing this project, i.e. extending it to Doncaster.
lukemelon 5 Feb, 2017 @ 12:20pm
Rubbish, Sheffield is poor and has no lines
Jess 29 Oct, 2016 @ 3:24am
Really liking the route so far. Have you stopped working on it? If you don't plan on updating it, then I can manage the scenery etc myself, but probably won't upload.
RTrain 10 Apr, 2016 @ 12:34pm
i only need the Edinburgh to Glasgow route then i can play. Can you put some pictures of the route that you are making.
RTrain 10 Apr, 2016 @ 12:32pm
and when the TramTrain comes next year you could add that too. The TramTrain system is going from Cathedral in Sheffield city centre to Rotherham parkgate so you know
Armorin  [author] 10 Apr, 2016 @ 10:13am
That was the plan
RTrain 6 Apr, 2016 @ 10:07am
are you going to make the Supertram network if it's in South Yorkshire.
Armorin  [author] 4 Feb, 2016 @ 5:40am
It's a WIP, a fully functional track database on a green DEM landscaped moonscape with a few bridges put in place. Not much to look at scenary wise.
rogerayres 4 Feb, 2016 @ 4:23am
can you put some pictures up please as a map is not much to look at thank you.
Armorin  [author] 27 Jan, 2016 @ 10:53pm
I've no problem with that. I think the route would need so many up votes and be made final for you to be able to upload the scenarios to the workshop.
Daniel 9 Jan, 2016 @ 2:59am
Hello, I've been playing you're map for many months now. Can I make scenarios for your map and upload the to the workshop and leaving a link to this route.
Armorin  [author] 22 Nov, 2015 @ 10:10am
Hi, thanks for the kind comments. I find the trackwork in the area quite interesting.
Current status is on hold due to time requirements. If I do continue (considering I've lost the orginal source files due to a computer crash), I would look at converting the track database over to the ECML track textures which are much more appropriate than the L2B ones used. Also, I was not happy with the L2B texture set, and I think ECML files would do better here also.
The main issue holding me back from route development at the moment is the time requirement and the uncertainty surrounding the next generation architecture under development by DTG. I may well hold of on any route developing work until then. It might be better to start anew under the new generation architecture, as there may well be no upgrade compatibility at all for all I know!
sedge73 20 Nov, 2015 @ 12:27pm
This could be great if finished!! :-)
sispys 20 Nov, 2015 @ 12:09pm
Hi there. I´ve just stumbled across your route. I was actually building a very similar route myself but for MSTS therefore I know it fairly well. I´m impressed, are you still moving along with it´s development?
JustinTime1572 28 Jul, 2015 @ 3:13pm
i am in the process of doing manchester to sheffield via hope valley i have the track diagrams ect but am new to route building takeing me ages :( any one wants to help me please email me or messege me on steam hodds1@msn.com cheers chris
sedge73 14 Jan, 2015 @ 1:09pm
I really hope this carries on... I spent years watching the class 20s down near Beighton when I was a kid
Armorin  [author] 22 Sep, 2014 @ 4:25pm
The DLC requirements are as tagged: London To Brighton, Endinburgh - Glasgow and Classic European Assets. The latter many may have as part of another expansion pack (e.g. Woodhead) or as an original RailWorks purchaser. Thanks for the pleasant comments and support so far. DLC requirements may change, as the priority at the moment is developing a good track database to work on. There is much to do, but hopefully joy can be obtained at every step on the way.
Skifans 11 Sep, 2014 @ 2:05pm
Is it just the Edinburgh - Glasgow and London To Brighton the only DLC needed?
Skifans 11 Sep, 2014 @ 1:50pm
Live in Sheffield so carnt wait, unforunatly don't have the needed DLC though :(
Armorin  [author] 23 Aug, 2014 @ 4:55am
In this case I have used an existing track rule to keep the route workshop compatible. It is possible to change the max speed tolerance in the track rule without effecting existing laid track. Such parameters really need moving out of the track rule so that they can be defined in the editor. The underlying issue still remains that superelevation needs to be speed aware. A short easement on a low speed curve which automatically forms into a 6 degree bank is never going to be satisfactory.
kris120 21 Aug, 2014 @ 8:03am
I coincide with you that in this curve you cannot use a longer easement. There trackspeed is very low, I'm shure. So It ist not problem to have no superevelation there. I build a longer route and use seperate trackrules for 8 different linespeeds (40 to 200 km/h). With such a set it is possible to get optimal superelevation and the easements were never too long or short. In your case that yould mean a complete new built, which is a little bit too much. Maybe you can correct some fast curves with small radii. It's woth to do so, I'm sure.
Armorin  [author] 21 Aug, 2014 @ 4:28am
@kris120 - If you are talking about the track geometry on the curve south of Masborough station then the track geometry is not that far off. But there are cases, especially on the GC lines where the super elevation should be switched off as the TS implementation is not speed sensitive. A longer easement would not fit the track geometry, but the TS super elevation is too great for the short easement and speed limit. I've already switched it off in many locations.
kris120 20 Aug, 2014 @ 11:02am
Please use a much larger MaxSpeedTolerance in your trackrules. About 100 for a line with 60 MPH / 450m minimum radius is good. (got a shock south of the Westgate sidings).
Good luck with your route!
XCountryTraveller 7 Aug, 2014 @ 4:32pm
I like how you have captured the correct scenery for the Sheffield Area, from the homes to the Walls at Sheffield station. I'm impressed! I hope to see the scenery build up towards Chesterfield. I have done a scenario and with the scenery it's absolutely amazing. Well done!
TheDeterminator 16 Jul, 2014 @ 7:43pm
Fab route, Fab idea, Fab Work so far............. And generally FAB!!! :)
I can see from the work already done that it will take a wile to finish, I wish you the very best of look and hope all goes smoothly for you.
This is a fairly local line to me as I live in Huddersfield and used to travel the line to sheffield then Chesterfield. Love it...... and it's history! :)
Will you be extending to Huddersfield maybe? ;)
adambarber1996 3 Jul, 2014 @ 3:41pm
What does WIP mean? I'm not very good with technical terms. Sheffield is my home city and I thoroughly enjoy driving around the map simply because of that and of course there is the local units I can drive on it such as the class 142 Pacers, class 150s and 158s. Very nice route, I llook forward to the finished thing!
Dhassell 14 Jun, 2014 @ 6:21am
Looks Awesome So Far Gonna make a free roam to look around the hole map Its massive! alot of hard work so far
Armorin  [author] 13 Jun, 2014 @ 6:30pm
Hi Adam. This is a WIP version and it will be a considerable amount of time before version 1 will be ready.
adambarber1996 13 Jun, 2014 @ 2:22pm
Hi, should I subscribe again to receive the full version when it is finished or when an update is available? As you only have Woodhouse with station buildings and you are working on the Doncaster section.
鐵道榮 11 Jun, 2014 @ 5:40am
hi. i try again. it is ok. sorry that i annoyed you. thank you.
Armorin  [author] 11 Jun, 2014 @ 5:05am
Hi Carl. Not sure what 'order this scenario' means. 'Subscribe to route' perhaps? No idea what the issue is but I would try verifying the game cache and ensuring you have all the dependencies.
鐵道榮 11 Jun, 2014 @ 3:14am
hi . i found to order this scenario that casued my ts 2014 crashing
Mattg17 8 Jun, 2014 @ 11:07am
Can't wait to see the route with the full scenery. This is no dobut my favorite Workshop route so keep up the good work.
BTYSONATOR 8 Jun, 2014 @ 10:11am
okay i have only explored Sheffield - Chesterfield
Armorin  [author] 8 Jun, 2014 @ 9:21am
Scenery will be built up over time. Currently Woodhouse is the only location with station buildings.
BTYSONATOR 8 Jun, 2014 @ 9:15am
maybe add some station buildings to make it more realistic, i have never seen this route so i thought it would be good to see it with scenary
XCountryTraveller 4 Jun, 2014 @ 7:00am
Thanks. Had a test run and seems cool. Keep up the work.
Armorin  [author] 3 Jun, 2014 @ 6:00am
Chesterfield is the current limit southwards and Doncaster is likely to be the next major rail hub I will hit. Sheffield - Doncaster provides a varied route to drive and the mileage isn't too great to scenerise. I would like to hit all major rail hubs in time. One of the important design criteria was to avoid the A to B route mentallity and redundancy in the event of the inevitable Sheffield - X commercial routes.
Armorin  [author] 3 Jun, 2014 @ 5:54am
I've tried to keep DLC to a minimum. L2B provides a superelevation track rule, and E2G provides important infrastructure (e.g. tunnels) that work with the track spacing (L2B is too narrow). Between the two there are a good selection of objects to use. The classic european pack will be needed for the supertram track rule. I don't have GEML or L2P which might have provided a better suited DLC to use, and am currently not in a position to expand my TS DLC collection.
Snapey93 3 Jun, 2014 @ 4:15am
guttered about this, i go on the train from long eaton to sheffield but i dont have the DLC for this route :( hope Railworks make this one day.
