how is it not showing respect if i go out of my way to do that? i have gained nothing from this. any followers and subscribers are not for anything i've done or plan to use in future. it's all for the community and author.
judging by Ramm's recent comments i'm now worried they're going to ask me to take them down after i asked for authorization, which means all the time and effort i put into making each add-on will be wasted. thanks.
https://imgur.com/a/KpRFdYG - i asked.
i discussed it with Ramm.asmiette and they gave me authorization.
they said they are fine with it as long as it required the original mod. each add-on takes like 10 - 15 minutes of my time to do. i put my time in to download, load the game, unpack the vpk, delete the files and rename the necessary files, set up the description which is intense clicking. it's a lot of clicking.
all i wanted to do was a nice thing for the community and mod authors.
all the modders will now gain subscribers again from the publicity as it requires the original mod. and it clearly states that it's not my work and all credit should go to the name specified. i have not edited the programming element of the files. i have simply renamed files to make the engine load them in place of different special infected.
many other modders have thanked me and are happy to see their work uploaded in such a respectful way.
-Next time ask the authors to make sure they have no problem whatsoever with it before doing it, don't just assume things. It's a matter of respect. I'm not saying that you had bad intentions whatsoever but I understand how Ramm.asmiette feels about it.
-Also I think adding so many mods and spamming the "most recent content" pages with those everyday kinda ruins the opportunity for some modders to put their new mods and get some visibility when it comes their new content. They want their brand new mods to have more visibility and burrying their fresh content and possible future popularity with so many ports kinda ruins the page and may be their will to upload new stuffs if you don't give them some space.
-Don't monopolise the workshop public pages as if it's your own private show please. Think about other people who want some visibility for the brand new mods that they want to post.
and i figured the original authors wouldn't mind due to making them so they don't work unless the original mod is installed with it. that seemed fair to me.
all these mods i've uploaded aren't updated due to their popularity. they're updated because i think they're good mods and worth updating.
