I know what you try to meant just create the folder "Sounds" and put your ".xnb" file with your sound effect like this --> \Documents\My Games\Terraria\ResourcePacks\"ResourcePackName"\Content\Sounds\Player_Killed.xnb

Here's the location of all vanilla sound effects --> \Steam\steamapps\common\Terraria\Content\Sounds All the .xnb names that you put in your ResourcePack have to match with the vanilla file names otherwise it won't work.
