Added this mod to a play through I started last week, and it looks like it isnt tracking progress anymore?

I have a bunch of additional hero mechs from other mods added in so maybe thats it?

Nice mod. In my play throughs I use 1 hero mod to the main mech i start with and any mech that comes with a pilot and a second one if it's a hero mech. The mod is working with DLCs through Rasalhague and October's update.

Something appears to have broken the mod for me, the various upgrades are gone and can no longer be applied.
DeadWalker6718 21 Feb, 2023 @ 7:42am
so i know it hasnt been worked on in awhile but does anyone know if it works with the new DLC 4, and it says hero passives are INTENDED for hero mechs, but does that mean they can still be installed on normal mechs or is it blocked?
BigTimeGamer 3 Jan, 2023 @ 9:23pm
should add in the description that you need the dlc

looks cool but cant get cuz i got no cash to spend on games rn and the dlc would break my other mods WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hero mechs have a gold border instead of white and a symbol in the top left corner of a shield with a face, this symbol is also used to indicate systems that have hero mechs for sale. As stated in the description I put the word hero all over so as to make it clear that the intention is for the 8 hero traits are for hero mechs and the 2 general are for all but that I lack the blueprint skills to put that in the mod so all traits can be applied to to any mech. One person commented that he had been playing with a mech so long that HE DEEMED IT TO BE A HERO MECH and applied the hero traits to it and I thought that was cool. it's your game play it how you want.
TONY7777 17 Oct, 2022 @ 11:11am
what makes a hero mech a hero mech? Can these mods be applied to all mech? how will i know a hero mech when i get one?
Kurst  [author] 25 Jun, 2022 @ 5:55am
Awesome! Thank you very much for telling me!
Barghest 23 Jun, 2022 @ 4:04pm
well good news it still works
Kurst  [author] 18 Jun, 2022 @ 11:47am
I would like to but I don't even have DLC 2 and I don't have any free time sorry. I haven't played or worked on any mods in almost a year.

Thank you for asking though it feels good to know some people still like my work :D
Barghest 17 Jun, 2022 @ 3:10pm
one of the most common sense mods, call to arms update ?
Daemod 2 Apr, 2022 @ 5:02am
Hey, did something update? I can't fit the hero upgrades on my new godzilla K-Crab?
Scooty 17 Mar, 2022 @ 7:26pm
OH I thought this was to make a custom hero mech out of a normal variant by doing Hero Mech cantina missions to say "find 1 Hi There! javelin", but I guess it's not that.
Kurst  [author] 18 Jan, 2022 @ 3:35pm
It requires having the Cantina which I believe is part of the first DLC Heroes of the Inner Sphere. The cantina adds skill trees for the player that the NPCs don't have. This mod adds a skill tree meant to give hero mechs a small power boost.
Frission 17 Jan, 2022 @ 8:15pm
Does this do anything without DLC then? I thought the skill trees were Heroes
Kurst  [author] 9 Dec, 2021 @ 8:33pm
You're welcome.
Atomic_Revenger 9 Dec, 2021 @ 7:00pm
OH cool that works and it's faster, thanks.
Kurst  [author] 9 Dec, 2021 @ 4:13pm
It won't let you drag it over but you can right click the upgrade to add it.
Atomic_Revenger 8 Dec, 2021 @ 6:04pm
I only have the Hero mech GOBLIN gets. I've added all ten upgrades from the hero collector tree. the slot count is 2/8. It won't let me add anything else. I've tried going the other way around adding the basic ones but then it wont let me add most of the hero ones. they don't go grey on the list and bonuses don't show.
TheBookReaderMan 8 Dec, 2021 @ 10:40am
that is really good to know, thanks
Kurst  [author] 8 Dec, 2021 @ 12:10am
The heroic passive upgrades do not cost a slot they are meant to be free just for being a hero and stack with all other upgrades. So you can add all the normal upgrade you would take and get the heroic passives. The scrolling on the list you have stops at however many slots you have and I haven't figured out how to change that but you can add past what you see up to full slots. IE you can have all 8 heroic passives and 5 normal upgrades on a 5 slot mech but the scroll bar will stop at 5.
TheBookReaderMan 7 Dec, 2021 @ 7:23pm
it also helps that it somehow glitchily let me add all of the hero buffs despite only having five upgrade slots
Kurst  [author] 7 Dec, 2021 @ 5:03pm
I agree Heroic Punch is a good idea.

You're right it doesn't matter if the game classifies it as a hero or just you. New modders are always welcome!
TheBookReaderMan 7 Dec, 2021 @ 3:20pm
fair enough on, not adding it, tbh I literally don't even use melee, I just thought that if it were to be added that would be a good line,

I don't really think that whether the game officially counts it as a hero mech really matters because as you also pointed out the only real differences base game are armaments and paint job, I will definitely take a glance at modding though
Kurst  [author] 7 Dec, 2021 @ 12:07pm
Heroic punch yes I remember and I like it but I'd have to remove a different skill and adding a skill to an already unlocked tree is tricky. I already know how I want to go about that and do a lot more but It's a lot of work, I've lost interest and my life has exploded on me. I'm sorry but I don't think I'll end up making it.

You've had a mech so long and put so much time and energy into it you decided it's now a hero mech. That sounds wonderful the point of mods is to play your game your way! I have a personal mod that adjusts and adds a few things to my liking making a mech a hero is just a check mark in a box. You could always get into modding yourself :)
TheBookReaderMan 6 Dec, 2021 @ 9:26pm
also gotta admit at the time of commenting this I decided that because I had been basically been using a (different variant to the starter one) centurion since basically the beginning that it just is a hero mech now, I've gotten enough kills with it that it may as well be, so because of that I appreciate that the hero upgrades are just that, and therefore can be applied to whatever you want
TheBookReaderMan 6 Dec, 2021 @ 9:21pm
this mod is great, I saw a comment on the nexus mod page about an upgrade giving +50% melee damage, I forget what their tagline was, but may I suggest "they say that heroes are able to punch above their weight" sorry if that is what they suggested
Kurst  [author] 7 Oct, 2021 @ 4:08pm
Thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying the mod :)
Innocent killer 4 Oct, 2021 @ 4:07pm
Thank you for the mod. I like the idea and agree with you. A Hero should Feel Like a Hero?
Kurst  [author] 23 Sep, 2021 @ 4:15am
Thank you. I would like to do some kind of progression but my understanding is that other mods use those files and doing so would make them not compatible with each other so I did this for now. I need to do experimenting to see what I can do and I have a lot on my plate so if and when is unknowable.
deathtrooper900 23 Sep, 2021 @ 2:03am
(this was an add on because steam limits your comment length)

So I think this was a great idea, and if you are really worried about balance, then edit hero mechs to cost more so that you really have to pay for it.
On a side note- do you automatically unlock the whole hero tree or is there some kind of progression to it after the initial unlock. My thought would have been that you unlock another perk for each hero mech you collect or something like that, but I;m guessing that's a code limitation?
deathtrooper900 23 Sep, 2021 @ 2:03am
Don't Listen to that guy, I felt kind of let down by Hero Mechs, especially since toward the end of the game you can get tossed against a whole company of enemy mechs. If your supposed to be this legendary commander who paid his dues and now has these legendary mechs, It would make sense that they would be just that much better than the standard. In this game pilot skill starts to make less and less impact against sheer weight of numbers. But in the battletech universe for every great Mechwarrior, there has ALWAYS been these legendary mechanics to back them up, even with all the statistical boosts a bad pilot wont get nearly as much out of these mechs as a good one will.
Kurst  [author] 22 Sep, 2021 @ 2:51am
I will try rephrasing my last statement. Pilot skill is important but the premise of the mod is that there is more to it. If you do not agree with that it's fine that is your opinion just as it's your choice to use the mod or not but I have no interest in arguing over the internet about it.

@Mr Miyaki
Hero mechs are mechs with special battle enhancing attributes that gives you an edge and smooth out inequality when you face elite enemies in the battlefield.lol

Just because someone sees things a different way doesn't make them a "troll". Grow up.
Kurst  [author] 21 Sep, 2021 @ 7:43pm
If you don't like the mod then don't use it but please don't waste my time trying to troll me.
Mr. Miyagi 21 Sep, 2021 @ 7:20pm
A bad pilot will not live long enough to be able to afford those things - so if you really want to get down to it, C-Bills AND a good pilot make a Hero mech.
Kurst  [author] 21 Sep, 2021 @ 6:22pm
Yes the pilot plays a role but there are a great many factors that can affect the capabilities of such huge machines. The mechanics that work on it, the tools they use, the time they take, the parts they use, and so on. I could write a few pages detailing how much I can think of off the top of my head that would affect the capabilities of a realistic mech. There are mods for pilots, consider that is a way to try and account for some of those other factors. It's a mod for a game if you like the mod use it and if you don't like the mod then don't use it. Play the game however you find fun.
Mr. Miyagi 21 Sep, 2021 @ 5:34pm
"Hero Mechs" were "heroes" because of the men and women who piloted them.
Not anyone can do well just because they have a shiny toy - and MWO is proof of that.
