Ok, I figured it out. If anyone's curious, the ships have an AI Remote Control block that's covered by armor panels. If you destroy that, either by shooting it or grinding it, there's a 50/50 chance that it blows up and makes the entire ship go poof. It is also what's housing the inhibitor script that makes you take damage when grinding. So if you want to grind down the ship by hand, rather than by ship, you'll have to chance destroying that block. Otherwise, using a ship, you should be able to just ignore it. But if your guns on your ship or station blow it up, you have to incur that 50/50 chance it makes the whole ship go poof.

I'm also having the same issue DeathShaper was having a year ago. The first 5 Drifting Pursuants that spawned and attacked us that we actually managed to kill, crashed and we were able to salvage them. Now we've had 3 spawn in and when our base starts firing on them, after a moment of volleys, the ship just disappears without leaving anything behind.

I enjoy the mod but I dislike Drifting Persuants appearing every 10-20mins like clockwork and instantly knowing where my base is. Other mods seem to handle threat detection and enemy spawning a little more neatly.

Added this to my existing world, Drifting persuant spawns in like 5 mins after loaded, base managed to shoot it, but it instantly dissapeared after getting a few hits. about 5-10 mins later: a second one pops up, same thing happens. They dont even crash down on the planet, they just vanish in thin air.

Not sure what to do with this one. My lightly armed planetary base, plus myself in a fighter, had a really good long battle against a pair of of Stinging Adversaries. One flew away (to fight another faction maybe?) and after 20 minutes or so, I brought the other one down. But... then what? A huge wreck, but no way to get at it? I can't grind the mats (zapper tech). If I grind with a ship grinder, it gets disabled. If I grind the AI module, I die to zapper tech. If I shoot the AI module, the whole ship instantly disappears. Is there no way to get salvage from these enemies?

Definitely need to adjust the threat modifer (a LOT) if one is playing with Industrial Overhaul

These are a pretty awesome challenge that actually matters. Your first Drifting Pursuant Mk 2 that showed up had the same general shape, but in LG format. Holy crap. :D It blew up half of my WC turrets and disabled the rest. I had to chase it w a rocket launcher and blow up more than half the atmo lift thrusters. The juice was worth the squeeze though, once I brought it down! Just had to avoid grinding the AI module until I pillaged the rest of the hull down to the bare armor.

This mod plays nice in a frustrating way with the mod critical reactor explosions. Very sad when your own turrets sometimes hole the reactor and vaporize the entire NPC ship. :D Base survives with a quick easy kill, but no salvage. :P

Just had an Adversary and Pursuant show up same day, and I shot them down in LOS of my base. Now all 7 of my LG turrets are dead and I have to hustle. Good stuff! Separated turrets with welder defense under heavy armor works really well -- if you can keep steel plates stocked.

This is a bit much - am still using Gravel Gatlings and using the Scarce Resource mod so Magnesium is hard to come by, and in comes a drone with assault cannons, missiles and gatlings.
Wasn't a good mod combo for me lol

Maybe they've been updated since I was using the expanded overall pack, but SPRT-Stinging-Adversary-MK2 was a bs bullet sponge, 4 Gladius turrets, like 10 PDCs, couple handheld weapons plus some small grid weapons later on and still took like 5 minutes to take down. Felt like the standard ufo types didn't have this much damage resistance/hp.

I have encountered 4 SPRT-Stinging-Adversary-MK2 these days,one disappears in the air,one crashed to ground and when I grinded down the AI control module(it looks like remote control but has purple light)it disappears.The other 2 crashed to the ground and didn't disappear,I thought they disappear because the AI moudule was sabotaged,but in these 2 I didn't find the AI module,maybe already destroyed before it crashes.So I just can't figure out why they diappear.

I had an issue when encountered SPRT-Stinging-Adversary-MK2(or Pursuant MK2,can't quite remember,not the round one anyway) on an earthlike planet,but after I destroy a bit of it,it just disappeared in the air,not exploded or crash to the ground,it just disappeared,this happens sometimes.
And if I lock my ship and the pirate ship together with landing gear,my ship and engineer will disappear too,then I can't respawn,the game stucks and I have to exit and load.
I don't know this is problem on my side or what...

I'd forgotten how difficult I'd made some of these bad boys. I'm playing a survival game on the alien planet and it's serious whack-a-mole with these things to keep them in line. What a great mod! Thanks!!

Indeed. But sometimes running away from danger in a panic can be fun too.

Removing the jump drive inhibitors removes the danger, but not the excitement or the fun!

Besides, most of these facilities are in gravity wells anyway. Can't jump in gravity wells.

Removing the jump drive inhibitors completely removes the danger if you can simply jump away from any encounter :steamhappy:

I hate the fact that you use the inhibitors, but I've got a mod that puts them all in their place.

Simply slot this mod, and it makes inhibitors a waste of time.
