Then I saw your comment about metal spears being in vanilla in B42.
I decided to look at the code for game and I couldn't find it.
The closest thing I found was the metal spearhead attachment for the wooden spear.
I'm not sure if I overlooked it or if you were mistaken but I can't find it in the files.
To know if a mod is compatible, check the tags.
@Monkey Magic thx for report.
@CryingD@rk Metal bars and propane are finite ressources. Metal spear is not overpowered and requires metalwork investment to be reliable. While everyone can have its own point of view, this seems subjectively balanced to me.
This mod and no conflicts with my Metal Spears mod. In fact, should someone wish to have both a singular crafted spear, and my mod running, this one would be fine. While the mechanics are a little different here, the damage range is compatible with my spears - if one considers this metal spear the evolution of the crafted spear, then my spears would be the evolution of the crafted spear's upgraded forms
This mod does have a conflict with it's rival mod, Crafted Metal Spear however, so do not install both of them
mainly decrease (to 1) the propane cost of Metal Spear creation.
I had metalworking 3 only, but I would still expect it to have a higher durability than what he experienced. Could you share what the durability of the spear is compared to the vanilla spear and how much that dura scales with metalworking skill?
Comfier then it looks
To be fair, the "canon" of the game is set sometime after the zombie apocalypse (anywhere between five and eleven months, going by the amenities shut off period* for both Apocalypse and Survivor (0-30 days) - compared with Six Months Later (Immediately), and Initial Infection (6-12 months)
So, yeah it should be possible to find this weapon, if only in Survivor Story loot tables.
*I ignored the setting for One Week Later as the (0-2 months) here make no sense - at best this should be the same as Initial Infection, at worst it should be (2-6 months - since 5-11 months is not an option) in order to comply with Initial Infection.
For sharpness, material may be important, for mass also. But for a spear, I consider it is very minor (so I neglect it).
Damage depending on material is a thing we players have been accustomed to by generations of video games using it as a trick for progression feeling. This is not required for PZ.
Range is too long, I don't think it should have longer range than crafted spear, especially since this is essentially just a metal crafted spear.
I changed this to 1.4 to match crafted spear but 1.42 would be fine too.
I lowered the weight a bit too to compensate for the shorter range, but not by much. Lowered from 2.5 to 2.3, which still makes this the second heaviest spear in the game. It is a metal spear after all, it should be heavy.
Damage I feel should be slightly more than crafted spear. A metal spear should hurt more than a wooden one. Idk by how much. Maybe by 0.05? Or maybe only increase one of min or max damage by 0.1, and leave the other damage as is.
Door damage should be more than a wooden crafted spear as well imo. Either by +1 or +2. I think +1 to make this not op. I changed mine to 6 for this reason.
Durability I feel is perfect, these are good numbers for what this weapon should be.
Some of the more enthusiastic metalworking fellows might have made it...just because they could. Would be a rare thing though.
