Hi Tchernobill, as said bellow, are you porting this mod to 42? There're metal spears, but they're hidden behind a lot of grinding, skills, items, etc. Thanks in advance, if you're not updating you still rock the B41 with this spears, so thanks!
Zeitresu 28 Jan @ 6:11am
I was wondering if this mod would be updated to B42.
Then I saw your comment about metal spears being in vanilla in B42.
I decided to look at the code for game and I couldn't find it.
The closest thing I found was the metal spearhead attachment for the wooden spear.
I'm not sure if I overlooked it or if you were mistaken but I can't find it in the files.

@Matteao. There are vanilla Metal Spears in B42.
To know if a mod is compatible, check the tags.
matteokmp 26 Dec, 2024 @ 8:09am
Is this mod compatible with B42?

Hello ! Can i upload in public a version of your mod with FR traductions and a little modifications about the item stats for my server? I'll credit you in the description with a link.

Recipe doesn't actually require you to wear the welder's mask
Tchernobill  [author] 23 Oct, 2023 @ 11:04am
@ Captain Tofu This is default vanilla spear attack speed.
Captain Tofu 23 Oct, 2023 @ 9:27am
Very powerful and very fast attack speed. Reminds me of the scrap weapons "Salvaged Spear".
Cider Bizet 6 Oct, 2023 @ 12:38pm
Surprisingly fragile for a steel pole
DarkWhiteCat 26 May, 2023 @ 4:51am
was another thing, but thanks, working now.
Tchernobill  [author] 25 May, 2023 @ 4:06pm
Check points 3 and 4 of that FAQ
DarkWhiteCat 25 May, 2023 @ 3:52pm
added the mod, but no spear recipe appears in the metalworiking section. Anything in particular i should check?
Tchernobill  [author] 19 Apr, 2023 @ 3:10am
@Clint this is a know Vanilla bug.
Clint 4 Apr, 2023 @ 9:25am
BUG: If you have the Welder Mask marked as "Favorite", the recipe does not recognize it as being in your inventory.
EpicW4r 22 Mar, 2023 @ 7:45am
Hey :) May I add this to my package of mods with credit given to you of course :)
Tchernobill  [author] 11 Mar, 2023 @ 5:19am
@Lune Yes.

@Monkey Magic thx for report.

@CryingD@rk Metal bars and propane are finite ressources. Metal spear is not overpowered and requires metalwork investment to be reliable. While everyone can have its own point of view, this seems subjectively balanced to me.
CryingD@rk 11 Mar, 2023 @ 5:07am
can you add more ingrediants to craft spear because i think its just too easy if you are in a warehouse or smth
Monkey Magic 3 Feb, 2023 @ 9:09am
Given the concern someone raised in my workshop regarding possible conflict between this Metal Spear mod, and my Metal Spears mod, I looked into the matter to appease them. The results are:

This mod and no conflicts with my Metal Spears mod. In fact, should someone wish to have both a singular crafted spear, and my mod running, this one would be fine. While the mechanics are a little different here, the damage range is compatible with my spears - if one considers this metal spear the evolution of the crafted spear, then my spears would be the evolution of the crafted spear's upgraded forms

This mod does have a conflict with it's rival mod, Crafted Metal Spear however, so do not install both of them
Lune 18 Jan, 2023 @ 6:17pm
Nice mod! Can this also be used for spearfishing?
Tchernobill  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 10:09pm
@Cold_Ocean they also have more damage and distance so it seems ok to me like this.
Cold_Ocean 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:08pm
can you increase weight for metall spear because now wooden spear with machete have more number of weight then metall spear ?
Tchernobill  [author] 30 Dec, 2022 @ 11:34am
version 1.3 a.k.a. Progical is out
mainly decrease (to 1) the propane cost of Metal Spear creation.
Progical 23 Dec, 2022 @ 4:07pm
The vanilla propane torch got changed to have a maximum of 10 units instead of 100, so making one spear now uses up far too much propane. Can you adjust the value to compensate for it?
Pixstel 17 Dec, 2022 @ 11:13pm
is there a way to attach weapons to it? if not that would be great if you could add that!
Crow 7 Dec, 2022 @ 4:40pm
Installed this mod on our server for my spear-wielding friend who wanted a higher durability spear, made one for him and he took it out and said it didn't really give much more durability than the spears he was already using.

I had metalworking 3 only, but I would still expect it to have a higher durability than what he experienced. Could you share what the durability of the spear is compared to the vanilla spear and how much that dura scales with metalworking skill?
bearhiderug 3 Dec, 2022 @ 2:09pm
Was my great grandmothers last dinging room chair, i feel inclined to keep it =p

bearhiderug 3 Dec, 2022 @ 1:47pm
I have a metal spear...
Monkey Magic 28 Nov, 2022 @ 2:03am
"It cannot be found, who would have wasted metal for such a weapon before the plague?"

To be fair, the "canon" of the game is set sometime after the zombie apocalypse (anywhere between five and eleven months, going by the amenities shut off period* for both Apocalypse and Survivor (0-30 days) - compared with Six Months Later (Immediately), and Initial Infection (6-12 months)

So, yeah it should be possible to find this weapon, if only in Survivor Story loot tables.

*I ignored the setting for One Week Later as the (0-2 months) here make no sense - at best this should be the same as Initial Infection, at worst it should be (2-6 months - since 5-11 months is not an option) in order to comply with Initial Infection.
Atara 9 Oct, 2022 @ 1:55am
I wasn't really thinking about other games when I made my suggestions. My thinking is, would a metal spear or wooden spear do more damage to a door for instance? It doesn't make sense to me that they would do the same damage, a metal one would definitely be more effective. A heavier weapon made of denser material would also have more mass, so it *should* do more damage. Most important thing I think would be to balance it relative to the other weapons in the game. Even a spoon attached to a wooden spear does more damage, which doesnt make sense to me. The changes I suggested still make it heavier than all other spears except machete spear, and also do less damage than all the spears except crafted. Making it one of the weakest spears in the game still, *IF* you do not account for it's durability. But it's durability makes it kind of op still so I tried not to make it that much stronger with my tweaking to make it more realistic.
IOWPER 4 Oct, 2022 @ 6:45am
We can weld somethings to the metal spear as wooden spear:steamhappy:
Tchernobill  [author] 1 Oct, 2022 @ 2:33pm
@Atara Thank you for your interest. I'm happy to see you tweak it to your liking.
For sharpness, material may be important, for mass also. But for a spear, I consider it is very minor (so I neglect it).
Damage depending on material is a thing we players have been accustomed to by generations of video games using it as a trick for progression feeling. This is not required for PZ.
Atara 1 Oct, 2022 @ 2:06pm
Good mod. Some thoughts on the stats and suggestions for balancing.

Range is too long, I don't think it should have longer range than crafted spear, especially since this is essentially just a metal crafted spear.
I changed this to 1.4 to match crafted spear but 1.42 would be fine too.

I lowered the weight a bit too to compensate for the shorter range, but not by much. Lowered from 2.5 to 2.3, which still makes this the second heaviest spear in the game. It is a metal spear after all, it should be heavy.

Damage I feel should be slightly more than crafted spear. A metal spear should hurt more than a wooden one. Idk by how much. Maybe by 0.05? Or maybe only increase one of min or max damage by 0.1, and leave the other damage as is.

Door damage should be more than a wooden crafted spear as well imo. Either by +1 or +2. I think +1 to make this not op. I changed mine to 6 for this reason.

Durability I feel is perfect, these are good numbers for what this weapon should be.
Tchernobill  [author] 22 Aug, 2022 @ 1:06pm
@Azi_Dahaka12th You cannot. This is a standalone weapon that does not include the attachement mechanism.
Azi_Dahaka12th 22 Aug, 2022 @ 12:56pm
can i not attach a knife to it?
Tchernobill  [author] 11 Aug, 2022 @ 7:39am
@Siowar no, but you can add it in a collection, any translation mod is also welcome.
bearhiderug 6 Aug, 2022 @ 2:32pm
yes
Toby 6 Aug, 2022 @ 1:24pm
Is this mod safe to add to a pre existing save?
Siowar 29 Jul, 2022 @ 8:47pm
Hello! Can i include your mod in my spanish translation package?
xxbasmanxx 8 Jul, 2022 @ 2:40pm
There is nothing wrong with the translation. I just do not like to subscribe to a large number of mods on this decided to offer you to add translation to your modification. Thanks for the answer.
Tchernobill  [author] 8 Jul, 2022 @ 2:03pm
@xxbasmanxx Thanx mate, but this I already recommend RU translation here . Please see with them for potential correction.
xxbasmanxx 8 Jul, 2022 @ 1:44pm
Sup. I made a translation for your modification into Russian. I can give you the files, that you would implement them in your modification. Is it interesting for you?
Tchernobill  [author] 4 May, 2022 @ 10:16am
@guinea pig This is expected behaviour. What makes you say it's a bug ?
lord foog the 2st 4 May, 2022 @ 7:31am
It seems I need max metalworking skill to craft full durability ones, has this been fixed? Normally at like 6 carpentry full durability spears are always made
Ambassador Past 22 Mar, 2022 @ 5:05am

JackOverkill 3 Feb, 2022 @ 6:21am
dmg should be a bit more than woodspear no ?
Hawkefire 27 Jan, 2022 @ 1:31pm
Honestly could also make it found impaled in zombies, similar to how you can find various crafted spears impaled in zombies.

Some of the more enthusiastic metalworking fellows might have made it...just because they could. Would be a rare thing though.
