This is fun! I totally destroyed my friend in this game. Gotta love being able to checkmate through a portal with one rook.

I would try to keep my backside closed, and just play a normal game of chess, while my opponent wastes time on the portal feature

@Sunset Moth [NO WAR!] I know exactly what you're talking about! It's called global chess, and only a few were made before the company that created it went bankrupt. I know a guy who used to own a board games shop who was an investor in that company and has one of the few copies of the game.

@MrNobodyX3 you should add ,sticked to the portal line of each player, a mirror copy of the connected part of the board to better see the moves you can do by passing the portal. if it can be toggle on/off would be perfect. really nice work btw, really enjoyed the game.

@brad1134 Just play like normal, the portal side pawns move backwards, and the edge of the board warps to the other side. For more read discription

I think he was homeless, IIRC it was a homeless help thing at a church?
he had this chess board that was actually round, all the pieces were magnets and stuck to it
it was cool

Also, a good thing to remember for Chess is the white square should be on the players right (this would apply to the row the King and Queen are in...normally the end of the board). White on Right. Further confiming the author is correct :) Nice!

Yogoni has it correct. Each queen should start on a square of her own color.
At least, that's how regular chess does it.

@Yogoni Just looked it up, King in on the right side of the player. I have it correct.

@Millstone85 I know he made the portal side equal leigth to the standard battlefield. Something I asked earlier but no one responded so I left it.

@thefivetree as well I want to point out I just looked up the version you speak of. The of the other is to be the video game Portal in Chess form. This just fetures a refferance to the game in it's page image. Nothing more does it have to do with the video game series.

If you know how to play chess you should be able to learn this in minutes. I ♥ you Portal Chess.

One suggestion, please add Queen bags for each side for Pawn upgrades.

You should consider adding side portals to the center of the field. Bishops and knights are much weaker now that the board is so rectangular and rooks/queens are riddiculously strong, to the point where the games are almost entirely about them. Side portals would generate much more interest for the other pieces involved.

This is late input. but... Valve did not create the aspect of going through portals, they simply made a game that used portals as a huge part of it. Not only that, this bares no resemblence to Portal, it just has portals in it. Valve would be fools to try and go after something like this for copyright infringement.

Yes as reference, tho that alone can not stop me legally from claiming it as mine. However the public ownership of chess may (unlikely) cause issue. Under any means I will not even concider to do so as I have no interest.

I'm on your side, but I have to tell you that's wrong. You are using a similar motive on your logo as portal (The chess piece going in and out of a portal), and the colors are similar too.

Actually this couldn't be copyrighted by MrNobodyX3 Becuase he would need the written consent from the creators of portal to be able to obtain copyright for a Portal remix of chess.

I second the motion to copyright and pitch this to a game company. I'm horrible at even regular chess, but I still think this is brilliant! And I don't even own the game to play it yet!
