I just came across this mod and it looks great! Does it also allow teetotalers and drug-averse ideologies to consume caffeine without being upset?

Still a nice mod which I will use for the other addictive coffees :D

Hmm, I just checked VGP - their coffee is not a drug! So no, does not function with this.



Technical:
Rather than using a ChemicalDef to apply the coffee and tea effects, VGP just has drinking the beverage give you a hediff called "caffeine". The JoyKind for these items is Gluttonous, or Food Consumption (chocolate, insect jelly) but because they are not drugs there is nothing for me to support, and this mod will have no effect on VGP.

Yeah. I install for ex your awesome Zuccini bread and for now my entire colony eat. bread. All the time. Everywhere, forever!)) Because of how game works you actually don't have options when you add some diffrent food mods. You still cook 1 meal..

You are best off only making one meal type for pawns, maybe two.

Yes, the game has two used stats to determine food selection:
Preferrability, and then that is modified by an offset if desired. So technically Lavish meals from the base game and Gourmet meals from Vanilla Cooking Expanded are the same (both prefer Meal Lavish), but the gourmet meal has a large offset to make pawns want it more.

Yeah, you just said that "I have a custom patch that I use to make them sought out as normal food better, and not need to be set in drug policy". I thought it means the dessert became meals not drugs with that patch. Anyway thanks for your work. Sorry for my offtop, it's just a pain to manage your food in vanilla. The only way how I can make my pawns to eat different meals if there is a choice is "Real dining" mod. In vanilla it's impossible, you may have 3 types of meals but your pawns always choose only one they like the most..

Desserts are not meals, they are drugs. Weird, I know. Can only be consumed via force or as recreation.

Thanks for your answer, but may I ask how your pawns choose what to eat with that custom patch: simple meal or dessert? If they have a choice and not a policy for dessert, won't they always choose dessert because it gives more positive thought?

Caffeine and caffeine items still count as drugs and can still be assigned in drug policy. Just no longer count towards Chemical satisfaction for Chemical Interest/Fascination pawns!

The way desserts were made is odd, and I have a custom patch that I use to make them sought out as normal food better, and not need to be set in drug policy. Joy code is odd, I made these because I learned something about it! Hope that answers.

Also is there a chance to have a mod that can control how you consume "joyfood". In Vanilla Expanded for ex you may have a policy for desserts but only because they are "drugs". So you can make a policy for it but your teetotalers refuse to eat it. And that's odd.. Because apple pie and heroin are diffrent things.. There are also a lot of mods that add joyfood but you never can control what and when your pawns eat. Well it actually works like that even with vanilla chocolate. So in game you can have a policy for joyfood only if it's a "drug". I really don't know anything about game code, so maybe it's just impossible to make such a thing.. Sorry for my English, not sure I explained it well..

Thanks for your work. So does caffeine still count as a drug? I ask because I love to have a drug policy for everything my pawns may consume. Am I still able to make a policy for ambrosia, cofffee and smokeleaf?
